Transcript
00:00 Following the LA Clippers first game in over four months, two-way star Paul George
00:04 used his postgame media session to call for justice for Breonna Taylor and George
00:08 Floyd saying quote "I take this time to give my condolences to family of Breonna
00:12 Taylor, George Floyd and everyone else murdered by police." He also mentioned
00:16 that her murderers were still free saying "we will use this platform to stand up
00:19 for those who can't stand up for themselves." In doing so George joined a
00:23 large group of NBA players including Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris
00:27 who have used their media sessions to call for justice for Taylor who was shot
00:31 and killed in her own home by Louisville police officers on March 13th. George
00:36 directed all basketball-related questions to Taylor and Floyd instead of speaking
00:39 about his performance at the Clippers first scrimmage. Teammate Joakim Noah who made
00:43 his Clippers debut this afternoon echoed George's statements saying quote "I think
00:47 it's important to know what's going on outside. There's a lot of people fighting
00:50 for justice and that's the truth. It's keeping the message on Breonna Taylor is
00:53 really important, keeping the message on what really matters and make sure the
00:56 message isn't drowned through basketball. It's not about the messages it's about
00:59 putting in the work in the communities." The NBA has made social justice a big
01:03 part of this season's restart allowing players to choose from a select group of
01:06 statements to run places their names in the jerseys painting the phrase "Black
01:09 Lives Matter" at midcourt. As the season continues expect players to keep the message alive
01:13 and continue fighting for social justice.
