Dallas Cowboys Trade: Executed Plan Gets Starting Lineman in NFL Draft
Transcript
00:00The 2024 NFL Draft first round came and stayed for a bit with the Dallas Cowboys finally
00:09executing a trade down plan that in the end landed them a protector for quarterback Dak
00:13Prescott's blind side.
00:16Dallas now has its successor to Tyron Smith, can leave Tyler Smith at guard, and picked
00:21up a bundle of extra picks along the way.
00:24I'm Mike Fisher.
00:25We are at the star in Frisco where the Cowboys have completed their first round work.
00:30Dallas ends up with a 29th pick and a 73rd pick in exchange for the 24th and a future
00:367th round pick all via a trade back with Detroit.
00:39In the end, the Cowboys move around so they end up owning four top 100 picks, 29, 56,
00:4573, and 87.
00:47And now they can do some business on day two of this draft as well with the weapons to
00:51go get targeted running back Jonathan Brooks of Texas or whomever.
00:55Guyton was all along one of the stronger connections to Dallas for any prospect in the pre-draft
01:01process.
01:02Freakishly long and athletic, 6'8", 3'22", played on the right side for the Sooners,
01:08did not give up sacks, need some work as a run blocker as is the case with so many college
01:13offensive linemen.
01:14You slot him in alongside Tyler Smith and now you have a formidable looking left side
01:20of the offensive line.
01:22The NFL draft will continue on Friday and we'll do it from here.
01:27We'll also talk over the course of our coverage of the Cowboys at CowboysCountry.com and on
01:33the Fish Report about what grade you give the Cowboys, not for the player because I'm
01:40not a scout.
01:41I don't grade players.
01:42I find out what the team's plan was going in and how they executed that plan.
01:48Stay tuned for that.
01:49Covering the Cowboys at the Star in Frisco.
