00:00 - All right, guys.
00:01 We're gonna do a little routine in the locker room
00:02 and in the corner.
00:03 You know what I said?
00:04 Touch gloves if you want to.
00:05 If not, go by the corner.
00:06 - Scheduled for six rounds
00:09 in the super featherweight division,
00:12 Dominic Valle.
00:14 Fighting out of Tampa, Florida,
00:16 the younger of the Valle brothers,
00:18 looking to move to 7-0
00:20 against Damian Alcala.
00:23 - Time! - Here we go!
00:24 It's time to fight.
00:26 Valle's got the win.
00:28 Time to fight Valle in the silver and blue trunks,
00:32 red and black trunks,
00:34 for 72, 29-year-old Damian Alcala.
00:39 [crowd shouting]
00:42 - Good right hand there from Alcala right off the bat.
00:45 A lead right hand right down the middle.
00:47 [crowd shouting]
00:50 - Dominic Valle in his fight against Carlos Rosario,
00:54 who came in with a 6-1 record.
00:56 Literally finished the fight.
00:58 We called it, of course, Chris,
00:59 with one second remaining.
01:02 So he went the full six rounds
01:05 back in November of last year
01:06 and almost the full six rounds the last time.
01:09 That is valuable time.
01:11 You want to get in and out,
01:12 but if you're in there, you can learn big time.
01:14 - And listen, we don't get paid for overtime,
01:16 but getting those rounds in when you're young
01:17 is really important.
01:18 Good shots back and forth.
01:20 Good overhand right there from Alcala.
01:22 But as I was saying, Goldie,
01:23 yeah, you want to get those rounds in,
01:24 but you still want to get that knockout.
01:26 So if you get a knockout in the last round,
01:27 that's ideal. - Ooh, watch your head.
01:29 - It's a win-win.
01:30 Marc Ture's happy 'cause he's got plenty of time.
01:33 And Dominic gets to add another KO to his record.
01:35 - These guys are having trouble fighting each other
01:37 early here in round one.
01:39 - Second fight in the United States
01:41 for El Duro, Damian Alcala,
01:45 who had his training camp in Mexico.
01:48 In Tijuana.
01:52 - Tijuana versus Puerto Rico.
01:53 Have to be known to have a banger down here.
01:55 We're at round number one, 90 seconds in,
01:57 and these guys are tagging each other.
01:58 - [speaking Spanish]
02:01 - Aggressive style, good chin.
02:04 On the scouting report of Alcala.
02:07 And an all-pressure fighter.
02:09 Both Dominic and his older brother Marc is fighting.
02:12 They both said in the fighter meetings,
02:13 "We'll find each other. It won't be a problem."
02:15 - Yeah, yeah, I really like watching both these guys fight.
02:18 They're very exciting.
02:19 I mean, the brothers, that is, the Mailloux brothers.
02:20 - Let him go, Blue!
02:22 - Good shot to the body. - Blue, let him go!
02:24 Box out of that guy.
02:25 - Red, let him go!
02:27 [crowd shouting]
02:31 - Older brother Marc is in the corner of Dominic tonight.
02:35 Also unbeaten as a professional.
02:37 [crowd shouting]
02:40 - Dominic does a nice job of mixing his offense up.
02:41 He throws a lot of head shots,
02:43 but he does not forget the body that we see.
02:44 A left hook down low,
02:45 which I think is one of his better punches
02:47 that he uses to break guys down.
02:49 - And not only does he utilize that 73-inch reach
02:53 and that 5'11" frame for a super featherweight, Chris,
02:56 but if he's not jabbing,
02:58 he's keeping that lead hand in the face of his opponent.
03:01 - Yeah, I mean, he's a volume guy.
03:02 His offense is his defense.
03:04 He likes to get to you, let hands go.
03:06 There's that check hook on the outside as well.
03:09 [crowd shouting]
03:13 - Quick hook lands.
03:15 Longer putt in round number one.
03:17 And again to the body.
03:19 - Look out for the bell!
03:21 - Well, El Duro,
03:24 the toughness is being tested early
03:27 by Dominic Baez.
03:29 [crowd shouting]
03:32 - [speaking Spanish]
03:44 - [speaking Spanish]
03:47 - Come on, the legs. He got no legs.
04:08 Look for the body. You heard him twice.
04:09 Shoot here, shoot up the middle. Shoot here.
04:11 But get it around the elbow, D. You hear me?
04:13 - Yeah.
04:14 - D.
04:16 - Coach Mark Ferre asking for more body work.
04:17 We spoke about the body work of Dominic Valle.
04:20 Was it enough for Coach Mark?
04:22 - You know, I was complimenting Dominic
04:24 on the utilization of the jab,
04:27 and I guess Mark disagreed.
04:28 He said, "Can we get the jab going a little bit?"
04:31 Round number two.
04:33 22-year-old Valle, silver and blue trunks,
04:35 black and red trunks for Damian Alcala.
04:39 - Yeah, I like that about Coach Mark.
04:40 He doesn't mince words. He tells you what he wants.
04:43 He doesn't sugarcoat anything.
04:45 This is boxing. There's no room for that.
04:48 - And his bond with the Valle brothers,
04:50 and they were the first to really come in
04:53 to the Mark Ferre, Plant City, Pro Box table,
04:58 is extremely outstanding.
05:00 - Dominic on that nice right hand
05:02 that caught Aldora on the chin back to Mark.
05:05 - Big swing and a miss. Round number two.
05:09 [crowd shouting]
05:12 - See if Alcala can get any offense going.
05:23 - He's just covering up, trying to recover now.
05:25 I think he's still feeling that right hand
05:26 from a few moments ago.
05:28 Ooh, big overhand right.
05:32 - And that left hook is one to look out for as well.
05:34 If you're--there it is. He just missed, Grace,
05:37 from Dominic Valle, one of his favorite punches.
05:39 - Yeah, there's a noticeable power difference
05:41 between these two.
05:42 Dominic Valle just has the much heavier hands.
05:45 Ooh.
05:49 Timing on that shot. Nice overhead right.
05:52 - Chris, they oftentimes say you're born with power.
05:58 You're gonna be a power puncher or you're not,
06:00 but in this modern day of fitness and science,
06:04 there's a way to bolster your power meter as well,
06:08 and the Valles do a great job.
06:09 - Oh, absolutely. I mean, there's always a potential
06:11 or a ceiling to how hard you're gonna hit.
06:13 The Valles brothers train very, very hard.
06:15 They're big for the weight class,
06:16 and obviously, they got all that volume.
06:18 A lot of those knockouts come from volume,
06:19 not just one punch power.
06:21 - He has landed four straight jabs
06:23 and now goes to the body.
06:25 Still a minute on the clock here in the second.
06:28 All Dominic Valle thus far.
06:30 - Yeah, there's not been much offense
06:32 from Alcala this round.
06:33 The first round was a little more competitive.
06:35 Not this round. It's been all Valles.
06:36 - Caught him in the body again.
06:42 - Oh, that liver shot.
06:43 Beautiful shot along the ribs.
06:45 - Valles throwing that jab will not be so--
06:50 - Oh!
06:51 - Valles talks about not being utilized
06:54 or the uppercut at the end of this round.
06:57 Nasty!
06:59 - Beautifully timed shot.
07:01 - Seven, eight.
07:03 Hands up.
07:04 You want to continue?
07:06 - And all those jabs opened it up, Chris.
07:09 - Yeah, I'd like to-- I was going to say
07:10 right before he dropped him that
07:11 Valles doing a good job of even using the jab
07:13 from that middle distance.
07:14 A lot of guys don't throw their jab from that.
07:16 Valles has--
07:17 - Big flurry here to end the second.
07:21 - Alcala's just holding on.
07:24 Full bear hug at this point.
07:26 [bell dings]
07:27 [cheers and applause]
07:30 - Jab, jab, jab, jab, uppercut, canvas.
07:37 - Beautiful combination.
07:39 Nice, tricky right hand.
07:40 We mentioned those jabs from that middle distance range.
07:44 Getting a bead on his man,
07:45 and it's going to be the right uppercut right there
07:47 that cracks Alcala on the chin.
07:50 Puts him on the seat of his pants,
07:51 and El Doro in a place that he's not used to being.
07:54 - On the canvas, hurt, holding on.
07:58 Oh, super shot.
08:00 Right uppercut, right to the point of the chin.
08:02 Could not ask for a better shot.
08:04 - And that was, Chris, the first time
08:07 Alcala's ever been knocked out.
08:09 - I'd be surprised if he's able to recover.
08:15 His legs looked in all over the ring at the end of that round.
08:18 - Big time.
08:19 - Let's go!
08:21 - 7-2, went the distance in both of his setbacks.
08:25 And before--about a minute ago,
08:28 he had never been knocked down.
08:30 Round number 3.
08:32 Dominic Valle will look for the finish here.
08:36 Stay within himself.
08:40 Trying to put El Doro away.
08:42 - Yeah, if I'm Alcala here,
08:50 I gotta go for it.
08:51 I can't--backing up didn't help last round.
08:53 He was trying to be defensive last round.
08:56 He was getting hit even more.
08:57 There's an uppercut again.
08:58 - He ground it.
08:59 Looking to finish it right here, right now,
09:01 down for the second time.
09:04 - And just looking at the face,
09:06 looking at the body language of Alcala,
09:07 it seems like the fight's being broken out on him.
09:09 - A lot of time on the clock here.
09:17 Round number 3.
09:20 Again with the uppercut.
09:21 - And he goes right back to the jab.
09:23 Right back to keeping the touches on him.
09:25 Bang, picking those big spots.
09:27 - Right what Marc Ferre
09:33 was talking about at the end of round 1.
09:35 Set everything up with that jab.
09:37 Dominic has been outstanding.
09:39 - Yeah, and that's the thing.
09:43 When you got a guy who has a stance the way Alcala has,
09:46 he's very heavy over that front foot.
09:47 He goes backwards, he takes everything away.
09:49 He's got no power.
09:50 His face is right there to be hit,
09:51 especially with jabs,
09:53 and Dominic has been taking full advantage of that.
09:55 Oh, there's that uppercut again.
09:58 - Dominic and Marcus always call it "effective aggression,"
10:03 and we are seeing it on display here.
10:06 - Valles, he's putting it all together now.
10:08 Jabs, right hands, body shots, uppercuts.
10:12 Combinations.
10:13 - And very long and accurate.
10:16 - Love it. Love this style of fighting.
10:18 Big fan of this kid.
10:19 I like the way he goes out there.
10:21 Even when he's dominating, it's fun to watch.
10:23 - Good, better movement there from Alcala.
10:31 He got his legs back.
10:32 - All-out pressure by 6-0 Dominic Valles.
10:40 Just 22 years old.
10:45 Huge uppercut!
10:48 Oh, and again!
10:49 Another one.
10:54 - Alcala showing that he is durable,
11:00 but for how much longer?
11:01 - I see where he gets the nickname "El Duro."
11:03 - Yep. - Come on, man.
11:04 How many uppercuts are you gonna get hit with?
11:06 - And again. - And more for good luck.
11:08 - Right in front of our broadcast position.
11:14 - I think the crowd should really be looking here.
11:17 - For the bell!
11:23 - Oh, big overhand right, too.
11:25 - Dominic Valles is putting on a show.
11:28 - I think the corner should really be looking at their man here.
11:34 - He's gonna get it.
11:35 - Punishing round from Dominic Valles.
11:47 Uppercuts nonstop.
11:49 Lead uppercut there is the left hand.
11:50 There's another one.
11:52 Now you see that hurt.
11:53 Alcala, he's just covering up.
11:54 Doesn't even have his eyes up. Goes down.
11:56 And more pressure, more punches from Valles.
12:01 That left uppercut, man, that thing was vicious.
12:03 I couldn't believe Alcala stood up to that shot.
12:06 And then there was three or four more uppercuts
12:08 with both hands after that series.
12:11 That's another thing I like about Valles, man.
12:14 He's a volume puncher, but...
12:16 [whistle blows]
12:17 There's no break.
12:19 You don't get a chance to rest.
12:21 He just--both hands coming like the tide over and over.
12:25 [bell dings]
12:26 - 85 days ago, his victory over Carlos Rosario.
12:31 We are in the fourth round of this six-rounder
12:34 to get things started.
12:36 Dominic Valles...
12:39 again with the uppercut.
12:42 - If I'm Coach Perez, I'm saying,
12:44 "Just throw uppercuts. You can't miss."
12:46 - Yeah.
12:48 He had to overcome a lot of things
12:50 in preparation for that Rosario fight.
12:53 Illness, postponements.
12:55 But that was the fight he wanted, Chris.
12:57 It was a quality opponent.
12:59 It gave him an opportunity to showcase where he is
13:03 in his evolution right now.
13:05 And, man, he's putting on another showcase here tonight.
13:07 - Yeah, that was a very impressive performance
13:09 last time out, but this is maybe even more impressive.
13:12 I mean, he's got a very tough guy in front of him,
13:14 and he is systematically breaking him down
13:17 with every weapon in the book.
13:23 - Whenever the Valles brothers are asked about,
13:25 you know, how long was your training camp,
13:27 how was your preparation,
13:29 they always give that same answer.
13:31 "I'm never really out of the gym.
13:33 This is my life. This is my calling."
13:35 - That's the way you got to be early on.
13:38 - Can't teach hard.
13:41 - Can't teach discipline either.
13:43 These kids really, really work.
13:45 I've seen them in the gym.
13:47 They're both workhorses, and it shows.
13:51 - Training every day, working towards my goal
13:53 of being an all-time great.
13:55 Midway point of round 4.
13:57 Two knockdowns already scored by Dominic Valles.
14:02 - Again, the corner really needs to be looking at there, man.
14:05 He's not mustering back-- coming back
14:07 with any kind of offensive positioning,
14:10 punches that are having any kind of effect.
14:12 He's really just moving around the ring surviving.
14:15 - You could hear that shot to the body.
14:20 - It's one thing to be tough,
14:22 but you got to be trying to win.
14:25 - I love the different angles
14:30 that Valles is drawing from tonight.
14:32 - Yeah, he mixes up his punches really well.
14:35 He's a volume puncher, but he changes heights,
14:38 he changes angles, he changes distance.
14:41 - He's a major lead pitcher with about eight different looks.
14:45 At minimum, at minimum.
14:47 - And also, like, this fight, more than I've seen in the past,
14:49 he's staying more defensively sound as well.
14:51 - Yeah. - Not as many openings.
14:53 - Now Carla trying to throw back here late in the fourth.
15:04 - You know, as much as I've been praising Valles,
15:09 you know I got to give some criticism as well.
15:12 One of the reasons why this fight has not been stopped yet
15:15 is there's no change in speed.
15:17 There's no sneaky changeup coming from Valles.
15:19 He's throwing great combinations, awesome volume,
15:21 good power has been shown,
15:23 but it's a shot the guy doesn't see.
15:25 You got to mix it up, change speeds on him.
15:27 [cheers and applause]
15:30 ♪
15:53 - I would say that that man right there
15:55 is in very deep waters
15:58 after four rounds against Dominic Valles.
16:01 - I can't believe he's still here.
16:03 He must have brought a scuba tank with him.
16:05 - [laughs]
16:07 - He's been drowning for four rounds, but he's still here.
16:09 - And he's got his dive partner down there with the buddy too,
16:13 giving him the extra oxygen.
16:15 But I did say at the top of the show,
16:18 ultra durable Mexican Damien Alcala
16:22 had never been knocked down in his previous nine bouts,

16:47 He's in there.
16:48 He's not mustering up much offense,
16:50 not really in a position to win any of these rounds,
16:52 but he is surviving these huge, huge shots and volleys

17:13 second American opponent.
17:16 His U.S. debut was July of last year in Phoenix,
17:21 and he lost a six-rounder by unanimous decision.

17:27 about that criticism last round.

17:31 He's not just throwing volume.

22:01 if Damian can last the next 80 seconds or so.
22:05 - Yeah, I mean, he's looking pretty sturdy here.
22:08 He's showing himself to live up to the nickname.
22:11 He's definitely a very durable, tough guy.
22:14 - It's a big if, though, right, Chris?
22:16 - Yeah, we know how Valles is. He wants those knockouts.
22:19 - Even if it is with one second left in the fight.
22:21 - Yeah, he got that last round knockout as well.
22:23 - Yeah, he got that last round knockout his last fight.
22:26 I'm sure he'd love to do the same here,
22:28 which would be a massive statement.
22:30 - Under a minute.
22:33 Wednesday night fights on your boxing channel.
22:36 - How tough is Alcala, though, man?
22:40 Took such a beating those first four rounds.
22:42 Comes back to hurt Valles for a moment.
22:45 Comes out with some big punches.
22:48 - As advertised, Chris.
22:51 Didn't think we were gonna be here in round six
22:53 the way those first couple rounds were going.
22:55 - 30 seconds.
23:00 Alcala told us in the fighter meeting,
23:08 "We can both apply pressure, let the better man win."
23:12 The better man in this one has been Dominic Valles.
23:18 - But you gotta give a lot of love and credit
23:20 to Damian Alcala.
23:22 - Tons of heart.
23:24 - They go the distance.
23:29 Another great test
23:37 for 22-year-old Dominic Valles.
23:40 - More valuable rounds in the bank.
23:44 [indistinct chatter]
23:47 - Round one looked like we were gonna have
24:04 an all-out slugfest.
24:05 Both these guys came out,
24:07 didn't have any trouble finding each other early on.
24:10 - Valles with his length, his volume punching,
24:14 his variation in punches was the big difference here.
24:18 That beautiful right uppercut,
24:19 which proved to be an issue for Alcala all night long.
24:22 He had zero defense for that shot.
24:24 It was the right uppercut there
24:25 that had started off the trouble.
24:27 The left uppercut became a big weapon later on.
24:29 That lead hand, there it is right there.
24:32 And those middle rounds, I mean, it was all Valles.
24:35 He scored two knockdowns,
24:36 was pouring a ton of pressure and punishment on Alcala.
24:40 But Alcala, man, talk about a Mexican chin,
24:44 Mexican toughness, Mexican heart.
24:46 Came back big in round five,
24:47 landed some shots of his own along the ropes
24:50 as Valles got tall.
24:52 Here we see another overhand,
24:53 another shot of that overhand right that catches Valles.
24:57 But then Valles finished strong as he started.
24:59 There's a big body shot at the end of that round five
25:02 that had him hurt,
25:03 and really another dominant sixth round from Valles.
25:06 Good action fight.
25:09 So Dominic Valles and Damian Alcala go the distance.
25:15 With the official decision, here is Beatriz Caliz.
25:19 After six rounds of pure provokes,
25:22 this is the final decision.
25:24 [Speaking Spanish]
