Après une journée de repos qui a fait du bien aux organismes, les choses sérieuses ont repris sur ce Tour d'Italie. Et dès cette 10e étape, les coureurs faisaient face à une étape de montagne de seulement 142 kilomètres entre Pompéi et Cusano Mustri. Et c'est une deuxième victoire française sur ce Giro, puisque c'est Valentin Paret-Peintre qui s'est imposé ! Après son frère Aurélien l'an passé, le cadet de la fratrie remporte sa première victoire sur un Grand Tour, mais aussi sa première chez les pros ! Impressionnant dans le final, le coureur de Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale a réussi à se défaire de Romain Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL), qui échoue à la 2e place, mais réalise un beau rapproché au classement général. Du côté des favoris, pas grand chose à signaler, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) conserve son maillot Rose.
