00:16this week. The iconic singer spoke to The Hollywood Reporter all about her big return

00:29It's great to be back as your host." This marks her 17th time hosting the show,
00:34the most of any artist. She shared why she wanted to emcee the ceremony again this year.
00:38Well, I saw Dolly and Garth having so much fun and I hadn't hosted an award show in a while,
00:44so I thought, man, I want to do this again. And when they called and I, you know, after watching
00:50it, it was on Amazon Prime and down in Frisco, Texas, close to my home state of Oklahoma,
00:56I thought it was the perfect time to get back in there and do it. And I was very glad
01:00and very honored that they asked me." A star-studded lineup of performers is set to
01:04take the stage during the show. McEntire shared who she's most excited to see.
01:08Cody Johnson. I've gotten to sing with Cody, be on stage with Cody,
01:12so I'm really looking forward to seeing him again, hugging his neck.
01:16Thomas Rhett. I love him to pieces. Jelly Roll. Lots of fun. Lainey. Lainey and I got to meet a
01:22couple of award shows back and I'm just so thrilled for her success.
01:27In addition to hosting, McEntire is set to debut a brand new song titled I Can't during the
01:31ceremony. It's a song that I fell in love with the first time I heard the demo. I didn't write
01:36it, unfortunately, because I love the song so much, but it is a very strong woman's song that
01:40I hope everybody enjoys it. 2024 is proving to be a busy year for McEntire. In addition to releasing
01:46new music, hosting the ACM Awards, singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and coaching
01:51seasons 25 and 26 of The Voice, she also has a new sitcom coming to NBC called Happy's Place.
01:57She opened up about her return to the world of sitcoms.
02:00We wanted to do it right after we were canceled on The Rebus Show in 2006. We've been working
02:06tirelessly trying to find the right script, the right idea. We did do Malibu Country one season
02:12with Lily Tomlin and Sarah Rue, and then we got the idea, Julie Abbott came up with the idea of
02:19Happy's Place. As for The Rebus Show, all six seasons of the sitcom that aired from 2001 to
02:252007 just hit Netflix this month. McEntire revealed whether or not she's prepared for
02:30a Rebus resurgence and for a new generation of fans to discover the show. Oh, you bet,
02:35absolutely. There'll be a new generation. There'll be kids coming to my concerts and their mom will
02:41say, we're going to go watch Rebus sing. They'll go, no, mom, she's on TV. She's an actor. So it's
02:49really cute that the new generation can see both. The 2024 ACM Awards will stream live on Prime
02:54Video on Thursday, May 16th at 8 p.m. Eastern. It's worth noting you don't need a Prime membership
02:59to watch the show live. For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
