The national government will not militarize the West Philippine Sea (WPS) even as a civilian group launched a mission to establish their presence in the disputed waters of Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough or Panatag Shoal) on Wednesday, May 15.

00:26That is why I am saying that this decision of our convoy going to Bajo de Macinloc is voluntary.
00:36This is their own initiative. We did not support this. We did not urge this. We did not force them.
00:43This is voluntary on their part. This is a civil society initiative.
00:49In the eyes of the National Task Force West Philippine Sea, this is a good sign because of the transparency strategy that we started since last year.
