00:00 Sports professor Rick Horowitz of the 1.3 trillion dollar business of sports
00:04 with your daily numbers game. Valhalla, about 80 to 90 million dollars of
00:09 economic impact for the Louisville area for the week but it's piling on. Why?
00:15 Well May has been a hell of a month with the Kentucky Derby, graduations, the
00:20 estimate is about 200,000 people here for this week and many more for the
00:25 entire month. Hotels sold out they said 11 or 12 months in advance and obviously
00:31 the same thing for restaurants, airfare, transportation and the like. They haven't
00:37 had a major here since 2014 but that doesn't mean this isn't a regular spot
00:42 and in fact every 10 years or so they're thinking about the majors which will be
00:47 the complement to the Kentucky Derby and other major tourist events. So the bottom
00:52 line is if you want to be in Louisville you horse race, golf but for the
00:57 tourist boards it's all about money.
