00:00 Hello, I'm Sam Morton and here is your daily Sussex News bulletin on Monday May 20th.
00:06 The Mayor of Crawley and the Borough Council have joined the rest of the town in congratulating
00:10 Crawley Town on their promotion to League One after an historic day at Wembley. Goals
00:15 from Danilo Orsi and Liam Kelly secured a 2-0 win for the Reds against Crew Alexandra
00:20 on Sunday. Councillor Michael Jones, leader of Crawley Borough Council, said "what an
00:25 incredible result and well deserved for this true community club. Congratulations to the
00:29 players, management and supporters. We are proud of the team and the team's achievements.
00:34 Being a League One club next season will help to shine a positive light on the town and
00:38 give a big boost to local residents and supporters." The Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Gilly Hart,
00:43 added "Congratulations to Crawley Town on their superb performance and an excellent
00:47 result. I wish the team good luck for next season as they move up to League One."
00:52 The club will be hosting a promotion party at the Broadfield Stadium on Monday evening
00:56 at 8pm. Doors will open at 7pm with the fan zone and the Reds bar open.
01:02 Meanwhile, Worthing is among the top 10 most stressful places to live in England according
01:06 to new research. The research team at DeskUp looked at various traits that either might
01:11 make a person feel stressed or relate to stress with factors such as health issues, anxiety
01:16 levels, percentage of physical inactivity, drug misuse and crime rates among others all
01:21 taken into consideration. Other factors measured include the percentage of smokers, divorce
01:27 rates and access to green spaces. Worthing, West Sussex, ranked 7th in England with a
01:33 stress score of 53.78. While research shows that living near the sea has positive effects
01:38 on mental wellbeing, this coastal town still lacked peace of mind, the survey found.
01:42 Out of all towns in England, Worthing citizens find life the least worthwhile and a fifth
01:47 the least life satisfaction, the report said. Finally, Marina and Pelham Beaches in Hastings
01:55 have been awarded Keep Britain Tidy Beach Awards for the 2024 season. Marina has been
02:00 awarded the combined Blue Flag and Seaside Award and Pelham has received the Seaside
02:05 Award. Aaron Woods, Coastal and Commercial Services Manager, said "Retaining our award
02:10 status is a fantastic achievement. Thank you to the teams, including volunteers, who work
02:15 hard to maintain the beaches so they are places for residents and visitors to enjoy. With
02:20 the weather starting to improve, we ask that you help to keep the beaches clean and tidy
02:24 by putting your rubbish into bins or taking it home with you. If the bins are full, please
02:28 report these on MyHastings so our waste teams can empty them." For all of those stories
