00:00 Good morning from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center
00:03 This is our update on the weather that we are monitoring
00:06 inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility
00:09 In the past few hours, there were 2 landfalls
00:13 this Agjon Storm
00:15 The first landfall is here in the island of Jomonhon
00:19 in the middle of the Eastern Samar
00:21 at 11.20pm
00:23 and after it passed through Jomonhon Island
00:29 there was a second landfall in Geporlos
00:33 in the Eastern Samar
00:35 earlier this morning at 12.40am
00:38 and our latest location was at 4am
00:41 the last landfall of this storm
00:44 here in the coastal waters of Katbalogan City in Samar
00:48 This is also a tropical depression
00:50 with strong winds that are near the middle
00:52 reaching 55km/h
00:55 and a strong wind of 90km/h
00:59 It continues to move northwestward
01:02 at a speed of 30km/h
01:05 This is our latest forecast track for the storm Agjon
01:10 After 2 landfalls of Agjon in some areas of the Eastern Samar
01:15 at the moment, it is already affecting a large part of the Eastern Visayas
01:21 For the next 24 hours, we expect it to continue to affect the Eastern Visayas
01:27 After that, it will pass through the Samar Sea
01:31 where it is possible for landfalls to occur again
01:35 particularly in some areas of the Bicol Peninsula
01:38 After the Eastern Visayas, the Bicol region is the area where the storm Agjon will pass
01:44 and within that 24-hour period, it will affect a large part of the Eastern Visayas
01:49 and the Bicol region area
01:51 and it will pass through the coastal waters of the Bicol Peninsula
01:54 For the next 24 hours, tomorrow morning, Sunday
01:58 the storm Agjon will pass through the coastal waters of Jomalig, Quezon
02:04 It is possible that it will become stronger into a tropical storm category
02:09 and while it is passing through the Philippine Sea
02:12 it will continue to move northward and northeastward
02:16 This is what we call a "recurvature period"
02:19 where the storm Agjon will move away from our country
02:23 24 hours after that, the center of the storm Agjon is possible to be 140 kilometers east of the safe area of Aurora
02:32 While the storm Agjon will continue to move in this area of the Philippine Sea
02:36 it is possible that it will become stronger and intensify into a severe tropical storm category
02:41 24 hours after that, or 72 hours from now, early Tuesday, May 28
02:48 the center of the storm Agjon is possible to be 325 kilometers east of Basco Batanes
02:55 This morning, the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been elevated in some parts of Luzon
03:02 Here in the northern portion of Aurora, Polilio Islands, in the southern portion of Quezon
03:09 and also in the eastern portion of Romblon, Camarines Provinces, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur
03:16 We also have a Signal No. 1 elevated in the area of Catanduanes, in the Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate
03:24 including the Burias and Tikau Islands, in the northern part of Samar, Samar, eastern Samar
03:30 in the island of Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte and the extreme northern portion of Cebu
03:36 and also in the part of Dinagat Islands
03:39 Compared to the mentioned areas where we have a wind signal elevated, we should be prepared for strong winds
03:46 brought by the Tropical Cyclone Agjon
03:49 and the highest possible wind signal that we can issue for this storm is the Wind Signal No. 2
03:56 For the rains brought by the Tropical Cyclone Agjon, we expect that these areas, we can see in this table
04:05 these areas are the most affected by the strong rains brought by the Tropical Cyclone Agjon
04:11 So, we can experience heavy to intense rains in the large portion of Cabiculan and Eastern Visayas
04:17 particularly in the areas of Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, northern Samar, Samar, eastern Samar, Biliran and Leyte
04:26 So, today we will discuss the heavy to intense rains in the mentioned areas
04:31 We can experience moderate to heavy rains in the area of Romblon, southern Leyte, southern portion of Quezon
04:39 and also in the parts of Cabiculan and northern portions of Western Visayas and Cebu
04:45 Starting tomorrow, the areas that will experience rain will be gradually reduced
04:50 So, heavy to intense rains in the areas of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes
04:55 will still experience moderate to heavy rains in the areas of Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon
05:01 particularly in the areas of Northern Samar, Polilio Islands, in the areas of Cabiculan and Southern portion of Quezon
05:08 Starting tomorrow, the areas of Luzon, particularly in the Central and Southern Luzon including Metro Manila, Bongvisayas and Mindanao
05:17 will still experience heavy to intense rains, flooding and landslides
05:23 like the trough or extension of Baguio-Agjon
05:28 So, in the mentioned areas, let's continue to be alert and alert to the threats of sudden floods or landslides
05:36 especially if the rain that we will experience is continuous
05:39 And as of 5am today, we still don't have a high-level gale warning for any of our neighboring islands
05:46 But still, be careful to our fellow countrymen who will be leaving because today
05:51 we are still expecting moderate to heavy rains in the seaboards of Bicol Region, Southern Seaboard of Quezon
05:58 Eastern Seaboard of Eastern Visayas, Western Seaboard of Samar and Northern Samar and Eastern Seaboard of Caraga Region
06:07 And I will repeat, this is our track scenario for Baguio-Agjon
06:12 After 2 landfalls earlier this morning and last night, we are expecting that this will continue to flood the areas of Eastern Visayas
06:20 and within the next hours, this will be directed to the Bicol Region
06:26 So, we are again in the possible landfall scenario in the mentioned areas
06:29 Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region will be affected for the next 24 hours
06:34 and this will emerge or will come out of the sea in the north of Camarines Provinces tomorrow morning
06:42 So, during this period, while this area is being flooded, it is possible that this will intensify in the tropical storm category
06:50 And starting tomorrow afternoon, the recovery period of Agjon will start
06:54 This will move generally northward then northeastward
06:58 This will start moving away from our country
07:02 And this will continue moving generally northeastward towards the northern boundary of our Philippine Area of Responsibility
07:10 And it is possible that this will become a typhoon category by that time
07:14 So, our par exit or the possible flooding of our Area of Responsibility is between the period of late Tuesday to early Wednesday
