00:22 a safe environment.
00:28 The Alun and Araw Club is a part of the pandemic.
00:32 A non-profit organization that is active in helping the community of Kabanggan.
00:38 There is always a lot of garbage on the beach.
00:41 My partner and I are surfers.
00:44 So, whenever we go to the beach,
00:47 we always notice the garbage.
00:49 We struck an agreement that we will teach you how to surf.
00:54 In exchange, you will help us clean the surroundings.
00:57 The number one goal is to protect the environment.
01:00 Our goal is to give them opportunities
01:03 like helping them with their education,
01:06 helping them with alternative sources of livelihood for their parents.
01:11 We have more than 60 members.
01:14 The Alun and Araw Club is promoting
01:18 the big change in the mindset of the youth and their parents
01:23 when it comes to caring for the environment.
01:27 We attend the beach cleanup once a week.
01:29 It's usually every Sunday.
01:31 We gather all the youth there
01:33 and help them to collect the garbage left by the visitors to our beach.
01:38 Janet Magdayaw is 15 years old.
01:42 She is one of the youths who were helped by the Alun and Araw Club.
01:45 Watch out!
01:46 If you live near the beach, it's fun, right?
01:49 One of the lucky ones, Gen Z, will study in love with the Alun of the sea.

02:09 Come on, join me today.
02:11 Janet is from a poor family.
02:17 When Janet met the Alun and Araw Club,
02:20 she saw the potential of teenagers.
02:23 Welcome to Amazing Earth.
02:25 Janet, how are you?
02:27 I'm fine.

02:30 I'm in Grade 9.
02:31 What is the goal of the Alun and Araw Club?
02:33 To clean the sea.
02:35 When are you active in this organization?
02:39 Every Sunday, I volunteer to clean the sea
02:46 and the beach.
02:47 Janet, in your opinion, why is it important to maintain the cleanliness of our sea?
02:55 This is where they get fish to sell.
02:59 The fish that are left in the sea, we should make the environment clean.
03:07 You're good at surfing.
03:09 How did you get into surfing?
03:11 Before we got in, we had to clean up before we could rent a board to surf.
03:18 A lot of people are looking at you. What can you say to them?
03:23 They should be clean in the environment because we live here.
03:29 For us, you're not just a great Gen Z, you're also an Amazing Earth hero.
03:35 Thank you, Janet.
03:36 Thank you.
03:39 It's like surfing for kids like Janet.
03:43 They need to be patient waiting for a big wave.
03:47 And when that opportunity comes, they shouldn't waste it.
