00:00 "Dad, why?"
00:01 "Why? Because it works."
00:05 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most unexpected surprises
00:10 and revelations from TV series. Naturally, there will be tons of spoilers ahead.
00:15 "That's not Lady Smallwood, Mr. Hound."
00:20 Number 30. Bob Hartley's Dream - New Hart
00:26 Even if you've never seen New Hart, you probably know about this twist ending.
00:30 Protagonist Dick Loudon expresses frustration with his eccentric
00:33 fellow characters and gets hit by a golf ball.
00:35 "You're all crazy!"
00:39 Then we see him wake up. Or rather, we see Bob Hartley,
00:46 Bob New Hart's previous character from the Bob New Hart show, wake up.
00:49 His wife Emily, played by Suzanne Plachette, also makes a cameo.
00:53 Bob describes the events of the show as a strange dream.
00:56 "What is it?"
00:57 "I was an innkeeper in this crazy little town in Vermont."
01:03 The end credits even use the Bob New Hart show theme.
01:07 There have been a lot of "it was all a dream" endings,
01:10 but New Hart's finale is especially memorable for how tongue-in-cheek it is.
01:14 "You really should wear more sweaters."
01:16 Number 29. Who Killed Lila - How to Get Away with Murder
01:21 There are several surprising murders during the inaugural season of this legal thriller,
01:25 but the one that started it all was that of Lila Stanford.
01:29 For most of the season, the characters and the audience are convinced the killer was Sam,
01:34 husband of protagonist Annalise Keating, since he was cheating on her with Lila.
01:39 "Lila."
01:41 "I'm telling Annalise."
01:43 And they were right, sort of.
01:46 Rather than kill Lila himself when she expresses a desire to reveal her pregnancy,
01:51 Sam instead tasks Annalise's investigator, Frank Delfino, to do the deed.
01:55 "You owe me."
01:57 So how do you get away with murder?
02:00 You get someone else to do it for you.
02:01 "Sam killed Lila."
02:04 Number 28. John Doe - Grey's Anatomy
02:08 This long-running medical drama has had plenty of twists and turns during its time.
02:13 One of the most surprising comes in the season 5 finale.
02:16 Surgical resident George O'Malley has had his last day at the hospital
02:20 before departing to join the army.
02:21 "I joined the army to be a trauma surgeon. I report for duty tomorrow."
02:24 Meanwhile, a bus crashes into a man after he pushes someone out of the way,
02:29 leaving the victim unrecognizable and unable to speak.
02:32 "Unidentified male, dragged by a bus. He's clamped down so he couldn't inhibit."
02:35 "Didn't they stop when they hit him?"
02:36 "Bus driver didn't know he was there until he got halfway down the block."
02:39 While the doctors all debate whether they could be that selfless,
02:42 Meredith is shocked to discover that the unidentified man is actually George.
02:47 "Oh God!"
02:48 The surprising reveal only makes his death soon afterwards even more tragic.
02:53 Number 27. Lorca's True Identity - Star Trek Discovery
02:58 Star Trek doesn't often do serialized storytelling,
03:00 but when it does, it can lead to some fantastic twists.
03:04 When the titular Discovery is trapped in the Mirror Universe,
03:07 Captain Gabriel Lorca and Michael Burnham infiltrate the Empress' ship
03:11 by pretending to be their Mirror counterparts.
03:14 "Captain Burnham. A face I thought I'd never see again in the flesh."
03:19 However, after revealing her identity to Empress Georgiou,
03:23 Michael realizes that much like her captain,
03:25 residents of the Mirror Universe have sensitivity to light.
03:28 "You're sensitive to light."
03:35 All the clues add up, and she realizes that Lorca isn't from her own universe,
03:39 but rather the Mirror one.
03:41 It's a great twist because the clues were all there,
03:44 but we needed this moment to make sense of them.
03:46 "My so-called captain's not from my universe. He's from yours."
03:51 Number 26. Wanda All Along - WandaVision
03:55 Look, we love the reveal that Agatha Harkness is manipulating things
03:59 and the accompanying song as much as the next folks.
04:01 "It's been Agatha all along!"
04:04 "And I killed Sparky too."
04:07 But at the end of the day, she just took advantage of the situation.
04:11 She didn't create it.
04:12 It's even more surprising when during a flashback episode,
04:15 we learn that the hex that trapped the town of Westview
04:18 and all its residents was created by protagonist Wanda Maximoff.
04:22 It's quite a shock to find out that our heroine is in fact the villain
04:30 responsible for keeping all these people prisoner in her TV fantasy.
04:34 Sure, there were hints, but we all figured she was being manipulated by some outside force.
04:39 "Wanda, welcome home."
04:44 Number 25. Dr. Manhattan - Watchmen
04:47 While this series and the comic it's based on do have superheroes in them,
04:51 the only true super-powered individual in the franchise
04:54 is largely absent from most of the show.
04:56 Or so we're led to believe.
04:58 During this episode, Lady True reveals that Dr. Manhattan,
05:02 the nuclear-powered, temporally-aware superhuman,
05:05 has disguised himself as a man in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
05:08 "Where is he?"
05:09 "Right here in Tulsa, pretending to be human."
05:15 Angela Abar isn't surprised by this revelation.
05:18 But the audience certainly is,
05:20 when she goes home and takes a hammer to her husband Cal's forehead.
05:24 "My name is not John."
05:25 "I'm so sorry."
05:28 The object she pulls out of his head and the resulting blue glow
05:31 had everyone's jaws on the floor.
05:38 "Hey, baby."
05:38 Number 24. Peter's Not From Here - Fringe
05:44 In addition to being one of the most underrated sci-fi shows ever made,
05:48 Fringe has some awesome twists.
05:50 The season one finale sees antagonist David Robert Jones,
05:54 not David Bowie's real name, different guy,
05:56 try to open a door to an alternate universe.
05:58 "Pay your respects, dammit."
06:04 And indeed, the discovery that Olivia crosses over into a parallel twin towers is a huge twist.
06:10 But when we discover that the grave Walter Bishop has been visiting
06:14 is that of his seemingly alive son Peter,
06:16 well, that completely blew our minds.
06:19 There's more than one of everything and everyone.
06:22 "I think our little boy is growing up."
06:25 Number 23. Chuck's Back - Supernatural
06:28 After the prophet Chuck Shirley disappeared into thin air,
06:31 fans had plenty of theories.
06:33 There were forum threads galore.
06:36 "Nothing ever really ends, does it?"
06:38 It wasn't until six seasons later that we finally got an answer.
06:42 The prophet of God/writer of the in-universe supernatural books
06:46 finally reappears when ex-angel Metatron suddenly finds himself in a bar with a man.
06:51 "Harvard, Edlund? What the hell is going on here? What is this place?"
06:56 After some debate about the merits or lack thereof of Chuck's writing,
07:00 Chuck gives Metatron some shades and turns on the divine light,
07:03 revealing that he's actually God.
07:05 "God."
07:08 And sure, some people called it in those aforementioned forum threads,
07:11 but that didn't stop most of us from reacting just like Sam and Dean when they found out.
07:15 "We should probably talk."
07:18 Number 22. The Assassin - Sherlock
07:22 The eponymous world-famous detective is rarely wrong,
07:25 but on one occasion, a mistake nearly costs him his life.
07:29 After confronting Charles Augustus Magnussen, a notorious blackmailer,
07:33 Sherlock discovers that he's already being held at gunpoint.
07:37 He recognizes the perfume of the gunwoman and assumes it's Lady Smallwood.
07:41 "Additionally, if you're going to commit murder,
07:43 you might consider changing your perfume, Lady Smallwood."
07:47 However, it turns out to be Dr. Watson's very pregnant wife, Mary.
07:51 She even shoots and nearly kills him.
07:54 "I'm sorry, Sherlock. I truly am."
07:57 If Sherlock Holmes didn't see it coming,
08:00 you can be sure that we did not expect this reveal either.
08:03 Thankfully, Sherlock survives and manages to get his best friend's wife to be honest with him.
08:07 "Sort it out, but do it quickly."
08:10 Number 21. Who snitched for Logan? - Succession
08:16 The three Roy siblings can rarely agree on anything,
08:19 but the season three finale sees the trio finally coming together to outvote their
08:23 overbearing father Logan in a proposed company buyout.
08:27 "You need our vote for a change of control."
08:28 "Yeah, you need all of us."
08:31 However, in a last-second reversal, Logan reveals that his amended divorce terms
08:36 nullify their votes, foiling their plans and allowing him to retain his share.
08:40 "You should have trusted me."
08:42 In the episode's final moments, Logan jovially greets Shiv's browbeaten husband, Tom.
08:47 Shiv suddenly realizes that the man she has been so dismissive of
08:51 has betrayed their plans to her father.
08:53 There are few depths the characters in Succession won't sink to,
08:57 yet this betrayal still caught us off guard.
08:59 "Yeah, uh..."
09:02 "Okay."
09:04 Number 20. The Bent Neck Lady - The Haunting of Hill House
09:08 Who knew a simple haunted house story would contain one of the greatest plot
09:12 twists of the 2010s? - The Haunting of Hill House
09:14 "I usually start to panic and my breath gets fast and heavy.
09:17 My heart feels like it's pounding out of my chest."
09:20 This acclaimed Netflix series had little to do with its source material,
09:23 so each story development was exciting and unpredictable, including The Bent Neck Lady.
09:28 Young Nell is tormented by a shadow ghost who appears to have suffered a broken neck,
09:32 hence its creepy name.
09:33 "Nelly."
09:34 In the present, a mentally broken Nell visits Hill House
09:41 and inadvertently hangs herself during an idyllic vision.
09:43 "Mom?"
09:45 "It's okay, honey."
09:48 "I'm okay."
09:48 As she falls, she travels through time and discovers the horrifying truth.
09:59 She is The Bent Neck Lady, and she's been tormenting herself for decades.
10:04 Nell's subplot is easily the most depressing and horrifying of them all.
10:08 Number 19. Violet - American Horror Story - Murder House
10:13 Several years before The Haunting of Hill House and The Bent Neck Lady,
10:16 American Horror Story pulled a similar trick with its protagonist, Violet.
10:20 In the sixth episode, titled "Piggy Piggy,"
10:23 Violet attempts to take her own life by swallowing a handful of sleeping pills.
10:26 "Don't you die on me, Violet! Don't you die!"
10:30 However, Tate prevents her from dying by forcing her to throw up.
10:34 "No, dad, help me! He's gonna kill me! Help!"
10:38 "Violet! No!"
10:39 "Help!"
10:41 Four episodes later, Violet is prevented from leaving the house,
10:44 almost as if her spirit is trapped within it.
10:46 It's then that Tate reveals the truth by showing Violet her own rotting corpse.
10:51 "I died when I took all those pills."
10:53 "I tried to save you."
10:56 "I did."
10:59 Turns out that Violet was successful in her attempt,
11:01 and she's been a ghost the whole time.
11:03 Number 18. Time Jump - This Is Us
11:07 "So I'm gonna need everyone in this room to believe me when I say that
11:10 only good things are gonna happen here today."
11:12 The pilot for this NBC drama concerns four people turning 36 years old.
11:16 There's Jack, husband to Rebecca and expectant father of triplets,
11:20 Kate, who's attempting to shed some weight,
11:22 high-powered businessman Randall, who was left at a fire station as a baby,
11:25 and Kevin, the disillusioned star of a sitcom who decides to quit during a taping.
11:30 "You know, and I think it all went wrong for me. It was 1986, second grade."
11:33 Near the end of the episode,
11:35 all four disparate storylines are brought together via a clever time jump.
11:38 "Strange as damn thing. Someone left a newborn at my fire station.
11:42 I didn't know what to do, so I brought him here."
11:45 We learn that Jack's storyline actually takes place in 1980,
11:48 that Kate and Kevin are Jack and Rebecca's adult children,
11:50 and that Randall is their adopted son.
11:53 Watching this, we knew from the start that This Is Us would not be a traditional family drama.
11:57 Number 17. The Chicken - M*A*S*H
12:00 In this show's stellar finale, Hawkeye is treated for a nervous breakdown.
12:06 He relays the story of being on a bus with a group of refugees
12:09 and forcing a woman to keep her clucking chicken quiet as an enemy patrol was driving by.
12:14 However, Hawkeye painfully remembers that the chicken was actually an infant baby,
12:19 and the mother had smothered it to death on the orders of Hawkeye,
12:23 resulting in his mental breakdown.
12:24 M*A*S*H was never afraid to go to some dark places,
12:31 and this twist proved to be the darkest of them all.
12:34 It's one of the most disturbing and emotional scenes in television history,
12:38 and it all came as a complete surprise.
12:40 Number 16. The Ice Truck Killer - Dexter
12:44 Dexter follows a serial killer who holds a day job as a blood spatter analyst
12:48 for the Miami Police Department.
12:50 In season one, Dexter hunts the Ice Truck Killer,
13:03 a fellow serial killer who leaves various body parts at sites linked to Dexter's past.
13:08 In the season one finale,
13:09 we learn that the Ice Truck Killer is Dexter's biological brother Brian Moser.
13:14 They were separated after being found in a blood-filled shipping container,
13:24 the same event that permanently traumatized the brothers
13:27 and sent them on their murderous paths.
13:29 Unlike Dexter, Brian didn't have a father figure to help control his urges.
13:40 It brings into question concepts of nature and nurture,
13:43 and proves that killing truly is in Dexter's blood.
13:46 Number 15. The Truth About Earth - Battlestar Galactica
13:51 This twist is reminiscent of the famous Statue of Liberty reveal
13:55 at the end of Planet of the Apes,
13:57 and it's almost as shocking.
13:59 Throughout the preceding four seasons,
14:05 the Galactica was searching for the fabled 13th Colony,
14:08 also known as Earth.
14:10 As the other 12 colonies were destroyed by the Cylons,
14:14 the enigmatic 13th Colony remained humanity's last hope for survival.
14:18 After searching for four seasons and over 60 episodes,
14:28 the fleet finally makes it to Earth,
14:31 only to learn that it's a barren and radioactive wasteland.
14:34 It's a huge gut punch of a twist,
14:36 especially following the jubilance of the discovery of the planet,
14:40 and it's easily one of television's most unexpected and upsetting reveals.
14:44 Number 14. Sydney in Hong Kong - Alias
14:48 In 2004, J.J. Abrams would change TV forever with the premiere of Lost,
14:53 but three years earlier,
14:55 he created another twist-filled extravaganza known as Alias.
14:58 Alias follows Jennifer Garner's Sydney Bristow,
15:03 a double agent working for the CIA.
15:05 Although the show is full of brilliant twists,
15:07 the best comes at the end of season two,
15:09 when Sydney wakes up alone in Hong Kong.
15:11 She has no memory of how she got there,
15:22 and when she meets the now-married Vaughn,
15:24 she learns she's been missing and presumed dead for two years.
15:28 It's the kind of tantalizing cliffhanger Abrams has become known for,
15:38 and it had millions of viewers chomping at the bit for season three.
15:41 Number 13. Who really shot Mr. Burns? - The Simpsons
16:07 Matt Groening's long-running cartoon isn't really known for its intriguing storylines,
16:11 but that all changed in the spring of 1995,
16:14 when Mr. Burns was shot by an unseen assailant.
16:16 While the episode was meant to parody the "Who Shot J.R." concept of 1980,
16:35 fans of The Simpsons were genuinely invested in the mystery,
16:38 and it became just as much of a phenomenon as the J.R. sensation.
16:41 Blame was placed on both Smithers and Homer,
16:48 until Burns reveals it was actually Maggie,
16:51 who may or may not have intentionally shot him.
16:53 The reveal put previous clues into clear focus,
17:04 and while episode writers Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein were not confident in the reveal,
17:08 it's since become an iconic piece of TV history.
17:30 Number 12. Carl - The Walking Dead
17:32 The Walking Dead is well-known for indiscriminately killing main characters,
17:36 and that continued well into its eighth season.
17:38 During the season's sixth episode, "The King, The Widow, and Rick,"
17:45 Carl and Sadiq are set upon by a group of zombies while traipsing through the woods.
17:49 They seemingly survive uninjured, but Carl appears stunned.
17:59 In the mid-season finale, it's revealed that Carl was bitten on the stomach during the struggle,
18:04 effectively sealing his fate.
18:05 It's not only shocking within the context of the series,
18:17 but it also deviated heavily from the source material in which Carl is still alive.
18:26 The reveal caught viewers, long-time readers, and even actor Chandler Riggs off-guard.
18:31 Number 11. Ben - Scrubs
18:34 The third season episode "My Screw-Up" is widely regarded as one of Scrubs' best,
18:39 and much of that acclaim stems from the ending.
18:41 Throughout the episode, Cox is hounded by his ex-brother-in-law Ben,
18:51 who continuously neglects to follow up on his leukemia.
18:54 While Cox is away from the hospital, a patient dies from cardiac arrest,
18:59 and Cox enters an obvious funk.
19:00 At the end of the episode, we learn that the patient was Ben,
19:08 and that Cox had simply been envisioning Ben in his mind to cope with his unexpected death.
19:12 The reveal itself, with Ben suddenly disappearing from view,
19:16 is both haunting and beautiful,
19:18 and seeing Cox grudgingly process the truth is easily one of the show's most emotional moments.
19:22 Number 10. Tommy's Imagination - St. Elsewhere
19:27 One of the most famous or infamous series finales in television history,
19:30 Tommy's Imagination is a classic, and it's a classic that's been a hit for many years.
19:34 It's a classic that's been a hit for many years,
19:37 and it's a classic that's been a hit for many years.
19:39 One of the most famous or infamous series finales in television history belongs to St. Elsewhere.
19:44 St. Elsewhere was a typical medical drama that aired on NBC throughout the 80s.
19:58 Nothing about it was really out of the ordinary...until the series finale.
20:03 "He's been sitting there ever since you left this morning,
20:05 just like he does every day, in a world of his own."
20:09 The final scene reveals that the events of St. Elsewhere were imagined by an autistic child
20:13 named Tommy. It comes out of absolutely nowhere, and it tweaks the "it was all a dream" concept
20:19 just enough to be original.
20:20 "I don't understand this autism thing, Pop. Here's my son, I talk to him,
20:26 I don't even know if he can hear me. He sits there all day long in his own world,
20:32 staring at that toy."
20:33 The quality of this twist will forever remain divisive.
20:36 Some call it a unique subversion that was remarkable for its day,
20:40 while others call it cheap and nonsensical.
20:42 But one thing is guaranteed, you certainly did not see it coming.
20:46 The Good Place is a great comedy concerning the lives of various deceased individuals
20:54 who found themselves in a heaven-like utopia suitably titled "The Good Place."
20:59 Or have they?
21:00 In the season 1 finale, Eleanor comes to the startling realization that the Good Place is
21:05 actually an experimental version of the Bad Place,
21:08 and that the characters were sent there to torture each other.
21:11 "They're never gonna call a train to take us to the Bad Place.
21:14 They can't, because we're already here."
21:19 Like all great plot twists, this reveal is not only surprising,
21:22 it also completely upends the entire show, and makes you question everything that you've
21:27 previously seen, seemingly understood and analyzed.
21:30 And to think, one of the greatest twists in modern television comes from a sitcom.
21:35 Throughout the first season, we were led to believe that Grant Ward was a devoted member
21:49 of S.H.I.E.L.D.
21:50 However, the truth is revealed in episode 17, "Turn, Turn, Turn."
21:54 "I want to see him suffer."
21:57 "Don't mind the company, and I can always use a man of your skills."
22:02 Throughout the episode, S.H.I.E.L.D. attempts to thwart an internal uprising of HYDRA sleeper
22:07 agents.
22:07 Everything seems to be headed towards a happy ending.
22:10 Ward and Skye finally kiss, the HYDRA infiltrators are taken into custody,
22:14 and Garrett is scheduled to be executed.
22:16 "What do you think, Agent Ward?
22:17 You shot the wrong clairvoyant before.
22:20 Care to shoot the right one?"
22:23 But, when given the opportunity, Ward kills Victoria Hand in cold blood and frees Garrett,
22:28 effectively revealing his true allegiance to HYDRA.
22:31 It's a fantastic twist that ended the already great episode on a high,
22:37 and made us eager to see what came next in Ward's subterfuge.
22:40 Introduced back in the fourth series, River Song was a mysterious woman who could seemingly
22:48 travel through time with the Doctor.
22:50 "Then you may kiss the bride."
22:53 "I'll make her a good one."
22:54 "You better."
22:55 She became a companion of the Doctor and eventually married the Matt Smith incarnation.
23:00 Her true identity and backstory remained a mystery until series six's A Good Man Goes
23:05 to War, where it's revealed that she's the daughter of the Doctor's companions,
23:08 Amy and Rory.
23:09 "But that means..."
23:12 "I'm afraid it does."
23:13 "Ooh.
23:16 But you and I, we, we, we, we, uh..."
23:18 "Yes."
23:21 As she was conceived in The TARDIS while it was in a time vortex,
23:24 she's been given time-traveling capabilities.
23:27 "It's me.
23:27 I'm Melody.
23:31 I'm your daughter."
23:34 The twist was kept top secret even within the crew, with only a select few,
23:40 including Stephen Moffat and actress Alex Kingston knowing the truth.
23:47 In many ways, Westworld is the Lost of today,
23:50 balancing intriguing character drama with endless mysteries, twists, and turns.
23:54 "The longer I work here, the more I think I understand the hosts.
23:59 The human beings who confuse me."
24:02 Some twists are a little too out there and confusing,
24:05 even for the most diehard Westworld fans.
24:08 But some work brilliantly, including the reveal that Bernard is a host.
24:12 "What's behind this door?"
24:13 "What door?"
24:19 The truth is revealed in episode 7, titled "Temps Pleu".
24:22 Bernard can't see the door leading to the secret lab, as he's been programmed to ignore it.
24:27 Westworld pulled off a brilliant trick.
24:30 "What is this place?"
24:32 "It's a remote diagnostic facility.
24:35 Ford and his partner used it when the park was in beta.
24:38 I had no idea this room was here."
24:40 It served the audience a story and character-shattering plot twist,
24:44 not through actions, but through visuals and important dialogue.
24:47 If you weren't really paying attention to what Bernard was saying,
24:50 you would have completely missed Westworld's biggest revelation.
24:53 "Doesn't look like anything to me."
24:54 "I cannot see the things that will hurt them.
24:58 I've spared them that."
25:02 At least at first.
25:03 "I will never leave you.
25:08 I will always be right here."
25:10 "Do you understand that?"
25:11 Season 1 ends with many shocking revelations concerning Mr. Robot.
25:15 "Elliot, who are you talking to?"
25:17 We learn that he's a figment of Elliot's imagination,
25:23 and that Mr. Robot was the name of his computer repair shop.
25:26 But we think the prison reveal in season 2 tops all that.
25:30 "Elliot, you know you haven't been staying with your mother, right?"
25:37 "I know."
25:37 After Krista asks Elliot about his location, everything unravels,
25:48 and we discover that Elliot has been in prison the entire season.
25:51 Some viewers sussed out the gist of the twist beforehand,
25:54 believing that Elliot was in a psychiatric hospital.
25:56 Like all great twists, this one answered questions while leaving the door open for more.
26:01 And what's even more unpredictable is the fact that this reveal came in episode 7
26:05 rather than the more traditional season finale.
26:07 Season 4 of Breaking Bad ends on a relatively happy note.
26:14 Gus is dead, the lab is burned to the ground,
26:17 Walt and Jesse make up, and the dangerously ill Brock turns out okay.
26:21 We, like Walt, are feeling pretty good.
26:32 That is, until the camera slowly zooms in on the lily of the valley plant in Walt's backyard,
26:37 proving that he poisoned Brock.
26:39 Jesse was right all along, but Walt had successfully manipulated him into working against Gus.
26:45 It was an admittedly genius move by Walt, but it also proved to be his moral death.
26:50 Even the most ardent of Walt defenders can agree that deliberately poisoning a child crosses a line.
26:55 "I won."
26:55 With this, Walt officially went from anti-hero to full-blown villain.
27:01 Number 3. The Red Wedding - Game of Thrones
27:04 Of course, The Red Wedding didn't come as a surprise if you had read George R.R. Martin's A Storm of Swords,
27:09 but for newcomers, this was a plot twist for the ages.
27:13 The Red Wedding served as the horrific culmination of three seasons' worth of story,
27:18 and it will be fondly remembered as one of the most startling scenes in television history.
27:29 At the Twins, Walder Frey gifts Robb with bread and salt, a symbol of trust and safety.
27:34 However, the doors are bolted, the Reigns of Castamere starts playing,
27:38 and the Starks are mercilessly slaughtered.
27:41 So much for trust and safety.
27:48 This twist is now legendary, as are the famous reaction videos of viewers
27:52 displaying absolute disbelief at the events on screen.
27:55 If there's one thing Game of Thrones will be remembered for,
27:58 it's the shock that was The Red Wedding.
28:00 Number 2. The Flash-Forwards - Lost
28:09 Lost is well-known for its twists,
28:11 but none was as significant as the one that closed out season 3.
28:15 Throughout the episode, we witness a bearded and depressed Jack
28:18 as he battles substance use disorder and dark thoughts.
28:21 While viewers believed that this was just another flashback,
28:24 it's actually revealed to be a flash-forward,
28:27 showing that Jack and Kate had gotten off the island.
28:29 Everyone talked about this twist, and it completely rejuvenated interest in the show.
28:46 It's now regarded as perhaps the greatest twist in TV history,
28:50 and Jack's line, "We have to go back," has been ingrained in popular culture.

29:17 #1 Nina - 24
29:20 24 was absolutely chock-full of twists and turns,
29:23 but perhaps none was as notable as this season 1 twist.
29:27 Throughout the first season, Nina Myers played the role of CTU official and ally of Jack Bauer.
29:33 When a mole is discovered within CTU, Jack immediately suspects Nina,
29:37 but her name is soon cleared. However, we eventually learn that he was right all along
29:42 in a twist that turned the entire character and show on their heads.
29:46 "Sigo en esta."
29:47 This is a classic plot twist, one where a previously upstanding and exceptional officer
30:00 turns out to be a malicious psychopath. Nothing is the same once Nina is exposed,
30:06 and this twist catapulted 24 from a great show to a fantastic one.
