00:00 (upbeat music)
00:02 - Hey, it's people in time.
00:05 Pride Month is officially here
00:07 and the LGBTQ community's got an ally in a doll.
00:11 And let's just say, you do not wanna be on her bad side.
00:14 So she was between songs at her Las Vegas residency
00:17 when she thought she heard someone in the crowd yell,
00:19 "Pride sucks."
00:20 And the clip's gone totally viral since.
00:23 - Show them, just say that Pride sucks
00:25 and you (beep) speak it.
00:26 (crowd cheering)
00:27 Don't be so (beep) ridiculous.
00:29 - Let's jump in.
00:30 - You're not gonna be on society's show, huh?
00:32 - I know that's right.
00:33 So moral of the story here is, don't mess with Adele.
00:36 Y'all, there is no stopping Simone Biles.
00:40 She just won her ninth US Gymnastic Championship
00:43 and picked up five more gold medals along the way.
00:46 She was already the most decorated gymnast of all time.
00:49 And now she's extending that lead.
00:51 Her next challenge, the US Olympic Trials.
00:54 If she qualifies for Paris this summer,
00:55 she'll be the first American woman since Dominic Dawes
00:59 to make it onto three Olympic gymnastic teams.
01:01 And you know what?
01:02 Simone said it best.
01:04 At 27, she's aging like fine wine.
01:07 Well, it looks like Brad and Angelina's daughters
01:10 are drawing a line in the sand.
01:12 Let's find out what's going on.
01:13 Calling Alex.
01:15 (phone ringing)
01:17 - Hey, Mako, what's going on?
01:18 - Hey, Alex.
01:19 Okay, we're hearing a lot this week
01:21 about their 18-year-old Shiloh Jolie Pitt,
01:23 or is that what we should be calling her?
01:25 - Well, on her 18th birthday,
01:26 which was just recently at the end of May,
01:28 Shiloh filed legal documents
01:30 requesting to drop Pitt from her surname
01:32 so that instead of being Shiloh Jolie Pitt,
01:34 she'd just be Shiloh Jolie.
01:36 - Interesting.
01:37 We've also heard a lot about Brad and Angelina's divorce.
01:41 It's been tense.
01:42 Do you think that is related?
01:43 - There have been reports for years
01:45 that Brad hasn't seen his kids
01:46 amid his separation from Angelina,
01:48 who if you'll remember, first filed for divorce
01:50 and sole physical custody of the kids
01:52 all the way back in 2016.
01:53 And that filing came shortly after Brad
01:55 was under investigation for child abuse
01:57 after he allegedly got verbally abusive and physical
02:00 with one of the kids while on the couple's private plane.
02:03 - Ooh, okay.
02:04 What about her siblings though?
02:05 Is Shiloh the only one feeling this way?
02:08 - That's a good question.
02:09 Legally, yes, that we know of,
02:11 but Vivian, she's younger, she's 15.
02:13 She actually did go by a different name
02:15 in the playbook for "The Outsiders,"
02:16 which was the musical that she produced with her mom.
02:19 And Zahara, she's older, she's 19,
02:21 actually introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie,
02:24 again, not using the last name Pitt,
02:26 when she joined a sorority at Spelman College.
02:29 - I remember Alex a couple of years ago
02:30 when Brad was asked about Zahara going to Spelman.
02:33 He seemed like a proud dad.
02:34 - Yeah, that's beautiful.
02:36 - I guess we really don't know what's going on,
02:38 but hopefully the kids are thriving.
02:41 All right, Alex, thank you.
02:43 - Anytime, talk to you later.
02:44 - Bye.
02:46 The streets of New York are turning
02:47 into Jodie Turner Smith's personal runway.
02:50 My girl was dressed to the nines all day on Monday.
02:53 She went into "Good Morning America"
02:55 and "This Green Crochet Ensemble,"
02:57 and strutted out of the studio in playful pink feathers.
03:00 Look at those legs!
03:02 Later, another wardrobe change for this colorful mini dress,
03:06 with boots made for walking.
03:09 And the grand finale,
03:10 the sculptural number with an argyle print,
03:13 and a new 'do.
03:14 We see that, Pixie Cut!
03:16 All to promote the new "Star Wars" series, "The Acolyte."
03:19 Mission accomplished.
03:21 And Priyanka Chopra's got quite the mini-me.
03:24 She posted a pic with her two-year-old daughter,
03:26 Malti Marie, complete with adorable matching PJs.
03:29 This was taken in Australia,
03:31 where mom is filming her new movie, "The Bluff."
03:33 She also included a little message to her hubby, Nick Jonas.
03:36 Okay, that's adorable.
03:38 Nick obviously loved it,
03:39 and commented back, "My whole world."
03:43 Zachary Quinto has been a naughty, naughty boy.
03:46 Well, according to one restaurant in Toronto called Minita,
03:49 they slammed the actor's behavior on social media,
03:51 claiming he made their host cry,
03:53 made other people who were there eating brunch uncomfortable,
03:56 and yelled at the staff like an entitled child.
03:59 Awful behavior.
04:00 My favorite diss, though,
04:01 might've been the restaurant saying,
04:02 "He's an amazing spot, but a terrible customer."
04:05 Ouch.
04:06 Now, that burn might live long and prosper.
04:10 Well, the Baldwin family has some news to share.
04:13 - We have an announcement to make.
04:14 - Good God, no.
04:15 - No, definitely not.
04:16 We're done having kids.
04:17 - All right, no more kids,
04:19 but they do have a new reality show on the way.
04:22 - We're inviting you into our home
04:24 to experience the ups and downs,
04:26 the good, the bad, the wild, and the crazy.
04:28 - With seven kids running around that house,
04:30 and Alec and Hilaria as parents,
04:32 and all this amid charges from the rush shooting,
04:35 I really don't know what to expect from this one.
04:38 (kids cheering)
04:41 We love Demi Lovato for how open
04:43 she's been about her mental health.
04:44 She's had five inpatient stays to help manage it,
04:47 and admitted this week that every time
04:49 she walked back into a treatment center,
04:51 she felt defeated.
04:52 But she put in the work,
04:54 and things felt different after the last one.
04:56 Here's her quote about it.
04:58 "It felt like I had hit rock bottom,
05:00 "and I just knew what I needed to do,
05:01 "which was to live a life in recovery.
05:03 "And that was something that I pushed off for so long."
05:06 That, paired with the right medication,
05:08 helped her start to find the light again.
05:10 You go, girl, we're rooting for you.
05:13 Well, if you were hoping to see Harry and Meghan
05:15 right about here on June 15th,
05:17 I got some bad news, folks.
05:19 They were not invited to "Troop in the Color"
05:21 for the second year in a row.
05:23 They last attended in 2022,
05:25 but the last time they were on the balcony was 2019,
05:28 nine months before they moved to California
05:30 and left their working royal roles behind.
05:33 We also don't know if we'll see Princess Kate.
05:35 We know she won't be in her traditional role
05:37 at a rehearsal a week before.
05:39 She's still being treated for cancer and all.
05:41 But no news yet about the main event.
05:43 It'll be a big deal if she's a no-show, though.
05:46 She's attended every single year
05:48 since marrying Prince William in 2011,
05:50 except during the pandemic.
05:52 So we shall see.
05:53 Now it's the sit down with Tony Goldwyn.
05:57 Hi, Tony.
05:58 It's so exciting to talk to you today.
06:00 There's so much to cover.
06:01 Let's start with "Ezra."
06:03 - The doctor who first told me my son was autistic.
06:05 - You could have saved us both a lot of time
06:07 if you just said the truth.
06:08 - Autistic kids don't give a--
06:09 - What do you want, man?
06:11 - Congratulations.
06:12 It's a really beautiful movie.
06:14 The writing is amazing.
06:15 The cast is amazing.
06:16 The directing, it was okay.
06:18 I'm just kidding.
06:19 What made you decide to help make this movie?
06:22 - Tony Spiridakis, who wrote the script,
06:23 is my oldest and best friend for over 40 years.
06:27 And Tony, who's been a screenwriter for a long time now,
06:32 he has an autistic son, Dmitry.
06:34 And when Dmitry was about 11 years old,
06:37 they went through a real odyssey in their family.
06:40 And his marriage was breaking up.
06:41 And they just went through a very challenging time.
06:44 And he came through that saying,
06:45 "I wanna write a movie about this."
06:47 Tony called me up and he said,
06:47 "Look, I've rewritten the script.
06:49 "Would you take a look at what I've done?"
06:51 So I did.
06:52 And I was just super affected by what I read.
06:56 It was really funny and it felt very emotionally true.
06:59 And the story worked.
07:01 I felt that he really had cracked it.
07:02 And I said, "Tony, I think I need to direct this.
07:06 "We gotta do this together."
07:07 And I thought to myself,
07:08 what a beautiful thing if I can tell my friend's story
07:11 for him and get his movie made.
07:13 And what a great expression of a 40-year friendship.
07:18 So we did.
07:19 And it was a beautiful experience.
07:22 It's really kind of miraculous.
07:23 - Robert De Niro was so good in this, as he is always.
07:27 Any fun De Niro stories?
07:29 - It was hard to get over my reverence for him.
07:31 He's been one of my idols as an actor, obviously.
07:35 Everybody's.
07:36 So that was sort of pushing myself through that
07:40 to direct Robert De Niro.
07:42 I had to really set aside my reverence for him.
07:47 My reverence for him.
07:48 But he was an amazing collaborator.
07:51 He wanted to dig in.
07:53 - You're fighting for something.
07:55 You might have to suffer consequences,
07:56 but it's worth it 'cause you did.
07:59 - I mean, I've been doing this a while,
08:00 so I've gotten the opportunity to work
08:02 with a number of my heroes in that way.
08:05 But as a director, I mean, but no one, no one.
08:09 He's at the top.
08:10 So yeah, every day I was pinching.
08:12 Tony and I, that was the fun thing
08:14 about sharing with your best friend.
08:16 And Bobby, too.
08:16 He'd be like, "Can you believe we're doing this?"
08:18 - I saw that you had a Zoom with President Biden
08:21 and actors who had previously played the president.
08:23 - Well, Mr. President, you know,
08:25 looking back on my own presidency,
08:27 I behaved very badly.
08:31 - How did you prepare for that?
08:32 - It was Morgan Freeman and Bill Pullman
08:34 and me and Gina Davis, I think, and Michael Douglas.
08:37 And so you have to have a sense of humor about yourself.
08:41 Not take it all too seriously.
08:43 And yeah, you know, kind of like dealing with De Niro
08:48 or any, I felt this way meeting other presidents
08:51 like Obama or President Clinton, you know.
08:53 Everyone's just people, right?
08:56 And they're generally like good people.
08:58 So you just have to remind yourself
09:00 and talk to somebody like, like just good people.
09:04 - Speaking of presidents, here are people
09:06 you are certainly our fave fictional one.
09:09 It was so sweet to see Kerry Washington come out
09:12 and support you for Ezra.
09:13 You know, us scandal fans get many heart attacks
09:15 whenever we see you two together.
09:17 What was the last text that Kerry sent you?
09:19 - It was a text about politics.
09:23 We were talking, we've been talking
09:25 about the upcoming election and how we might get involved.
09:29 And you know, it was, yeah, it was about that.
09:31 - Any chance that we could see you two
09:32 on screen again together?
09:34 Tell Kerry to come on "Law & Order."
09:36 - I'm all for it.
09:38 I, yeah, I've been sort of needling her about it.
09:41 - You were an Oppenheimer, guest starred on "Hacks"
09:43 and you joined "Law & Order" as the new DA.
09:46 At this point in your career,
09:47 what draws you to certain roles or projects?
09:50 - Mainly the people that I'm working with
09:52 is the thing that drives me the most, I would say.
09:55 Like I was really psyched to do "Hacks"
09:56 'cause I was a huge fan of that show.
09:58 I've known Jean Smart for a really long time.
10:01 I think she's brilliant and thought the show was great.
10:05 So when they asked me to do it,
10:06 I think I said yes before I even read the script.
10:07 I was just like, yes, I wanna be a part of that.
10:09 - We're gonna put 10 seconds on the clock.
10:11 Promote any of your projects.
10:13 Ready? Go.
10:14 - I wanna promote "Ezra," the film that I just directed.
10:18 And "Ezra" is a movie about family
10:19 and essentially about community.
10:21 And going to movie theaters is about community building.
10:25 So don't wait for it to come out on, you know, in streaming.
10:28 Go to the movies and see "Ezra."
10:29 You will not regret it.
10:31 - Tell Monee, thank you so much for being here.
10:33 - Yeah, it was fun talking to you.
