Transcript
00:00Welcome to the round 10 edition of Central Highlands Football League's Friday Footy Frenzy.
00:05It's brought to you by Sheds and Shades by Design.
00:08I'm David Breo and it's great to have you all on board once again as
00:12the second half of the season starts to get some momentum going. Two big games on
00:17Saturday in the Central Highlands Football League, those being Karnum Linton at home to Buniong at Snake Valley and
00:24Gordon at home to Skipton.
00:27These two games are going to have a big bearing on how, for the moment anyway, the top eight shapes up because
00:35from week to week we're already seeing how one result can change the fortunes
00:40dramatically of a side. We saw that last week with a couple of results going against the likes of Karnum Linton,
00:48Skipton and Buniong. All suffering losses and that's just put the heat on them and
00:52Hepburn, well they didn't even play a game. They had a bye and they slipped out of the top eight.
00:56So it's on a knife's edge for a lot of these teams.
01:00We've still got a long way to go, but every round is going to count. Before we talk about those matches of the round,
01:07let's go straight to the Creswick-Dalesford game because this could be a special occasion for the Bulldogs.
01:13If they win, and they should, they're expected to, they will go to the top of the ladder and that's been, that's rare
01:21moment for the Bulldogs who, at the start of the season, would have predicted that Dalesford at any stage this season would have been on top.
01:28But that's exactly where they'll go if they get the points against Creswick. The reason being, at the moment
01:33they're just behind Bungaree on percentage, but Bungaree has a bye. So that opens the door and
01:39there's going to be plenty of excitement again around the Bulldogs. So Dalesford,
01:44yes, they beat Dalesford and go to the top of the ladder.
01:48Carnum Linton and Bunning Yonge, both sides coming off a loss as we mentioned just a few moments ago.
01:53I like Carnum Linton to get the points here. I think they've got a little bit more speed.
01:58Bunning Yonge, a little bit more dour. But I tell you what, nothing in this game, but it's the Saints for me.
02:04The other big one I mentioned earlier, Gordon, the reigning Premier up against Skipton.
02:10Interestingly, the last two years Skipton has had the wood on Gordon, even though they've been Premiership
02:16seasons and campaigns for the Eagles. I think they can actually do it again, the Emus.
02:21They're coming off a one-kick loss to Dunstown. So they're up and about, they're keen to get things back on track.
02:28Gordon, well, they're usually, it's a fortress at Gordon. That's the way it's been in the last few seasons.
02:34But this year they've
02:37let teams get under their guard at home and I think it'll be the same again.
02:40So for me, it's three years in a row for the Emus to get the better of the Eagles.
02:45Let's run through the other games. Springbank, fresh from their first win of the season against Warbra. I think the Tigers go back-to-back.
02:53Dunstown, they're at home to Clunes. Dunstown are on a roll, getting their season going.
02:58They're in the top eight and they're there for the moment anyway to stay. The Towners to get the points against the Magpies.
03:05Rokewood, Corandap, they host the unbeaten Newland at Rokewood. Newland, it's hard to see them losing this one.
03:12Rokewood, they've got to throw everything at it to resurrect their season in any form.
03:16But the Cats, despite a few key injuries, they keep their unbeaten run going there.
03:22Learmonth and Beaufort. Beaufort, the other scene last week along with Springbank, that had their first win of the season.
03:29So the Monkeys off the back, the pressure's off, they can play with some freedom.
03:32But I don't think they get over Learmonth, which needs to keep winning just to keep their finals hopes alive.
03:38They're just outside the top eight. I think they're going to struggle to make it.
03:41But a win here at least keeps them in the loop. And Belan, they come up against
03:49Hepburn, fresh off the bye. Belan, yeah, disappointing last week. They
03:54didn't expect to lose to Beaufort. They're at home. They play their best football at home.
03:59But even with that advantage, I think Hepburn, fresh off a bye, they need to get their season going if they're to play finals.
04:06They've been a little bit slow to get going, but I think the Boroughs, they get the points there.
04:11So some interesting games. Again, I think there'll be a bit of a shuffle around in the top eight.
04:16Who will finish in the top eight at the end of the day?
04:20Well, we're not really sure, but there's every chance that Bunyong or Carnham, remarkably, could find themselves outside the top eight.
04:28But there's a lot to play out. It's going to be a great round, round 10 in the Central Highlands Football League on Saturday.
04:34And we look forward to bringing you all the action.
