00:00So, let's get started with the biggest story of the day in sports, and I'm sure all of
00:09you this evening when you're watching us on your second screen will be locked in to something
00:14that hasn't happened in over 70 years, which is a team going up 3-0 in the Stanley Cup
00:20Finals and having a comeback to tie 3-3.
00:23It's all on the line tonight in Sunrise.
00:25It is Game 7, and it is a pick-em, basically, on the FanDuel Sportsbook.
00:31Look at these odds for a Game 7 at home.
00:34The Panthers, a very, very slight favorite, no plus money at all, minus 114 on the money
00:41line total, 5.5.
00:42A lot of these games, as you will see coming up, have gone over the total.
00:46In fact, the last four games have gone over that total.
00:50The Panthers came out dominating in this series.
00:53For those of you who've been sleeping on the Finals, they won 3-0 in the first game.
00:57They won 4-1 in the second game.
00:58The third game was exciting, probably the most exciting game of the series.
01:01It was 4-3.
01:03And then the Oilers stormed back, and look at the goal scoring, 8-5-5.
01:07Folks, tonight, SportsGrid is your place to be for Stanley Cup Finals Game 7.
01:13Essentially, history is going to be made.
01:15Either the Panthers, who went up 3-0, are going to end up winning this thing and forget
01:19about what happened, or the Edmonton Oilers are going to make history and come back down
01:230-3.
01:24Incredible story developing tonight.
01:25Keep it locked here to SportsGrid.
01:27Pharrell and InGameLive, all of them have you covered.
01:29Meanwhile, we got some breaking news in the NBA.
01:31A new head coach has been hired.
01:32This time, it is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
01:35Stadium is reporting that Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson is the new head coach of the
01:40Cleveland Cavaliers.
01:42Process was down to Atkinson and Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego.
01:48Atkinson, of course, the top assistant with the Golden State Warriors.
01:51Cleveland was really good last year, so yeah, you try to make sense of this.
01:54I can't.
01:55But needless to say, Cleveland has a new head coach going into the NBA season, which begins
01:59in just a few months.
02:00And by the way, the draft is this week.
02:01All right, over on the PGA Tour, very exciting finish.
02:04But yes, Scotty Sheffler wins again.
02:07This time, he outlasted Tom Kim.
02:09And by the way, outlasted, that is the proper word.
02:11My gosh, Tom Kim really makes the most of every shot, doesn't he?
02:13I don't know if you saw him playing yesterday.
02:15Just played and played and played, took his sweet time on every shot.
02:20First player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to win six times in a single season.
02:25By the way, I don't know if you caught this yesterday, but in addition to Sheffler playing
02:29great, Tom Kim playing great, by the way, down the stretch, there was a five-minute
02:33delay when six people stormed the 18th green and sprayed it with red and white powder.
02:38Yes, this happened.
02:41And the people wearing t-shirts, no golf on a dead planet.
02:45A lot of people protesting this for the environment.
02:50You don't see this very often in pro sports, but boy, they planned this out right, to wait
02:53to the 18th hole to get people like me to talk about it here on the show, so certainly
02:56we are.
02:57Scotty Sheffler won the event and, of course, was asked about this protest at the end of
03:03the tournament.
03:04Yeah, it was a great finish.
03:05This golf course produces a lot of those, the exciting stuff coming down the stretch.
03:10And so it was nice to be out there competing.
03:12It's great competing against one of my good buddies in Tom Kim, but it's also very difficult
03:16at the same time.
03:18I want what's best for him, and so sometimes it can be hard, I think, for both of us battling
03:22against each other out there, but it was a lot of fun and I'm proud to be sitting here
03:26with the trophy.
03:27Yeah, it was definitely a bit weird.
03:28I saw one person out of the corner of my eye, and then I saw about five police officers
03:32sprinting around.
03:33And from my point of view, they got it taken care of pretty dang fast, and so we were very
03:37grateful for that.
03:39It seemed to go by really quickly to us, but when something like that happens, you don't
03:42really know what's happening, so it can kind of rattle you a little bit just because there's
03:46people running around the green, and there's police officers running around the green,
03:48and you don't know if they're peaceful.
03:51You don't know what they're doing.
03:52You have no idea what's going on, and so it can be a bit stressful, but fortunately, I
03:55was out there, and you could kind of see me and Akshay talking to each other for a minute,
03:59me and Tom talking to each other for a minute, just basically trying to calm down.
04:03That can be a stressful situation, and you would hate for the tournament to end on something
04:07weird happening because of a situation like that, and so I felt like Tom and I both tried
04:11to calm each other down so we could give it our best shot there on 18.
04:15Yeah, fun finish yesterday, sort of overshadowed by the protesters yesterday.
04:19Of course, the Open Championship, the next major championship coming up in July.
04:23All right, College World Series is getting hot as well.
04:26Tennessee beats Texas A&M.
04:27They force a game three at the College World Series tonight.
04:32Incredible series in Omaha going on this weekend.
04:34For those of you who are missing this, it's been great.
04:36Giancarlo Stanton goes on the injured list again, eighth time in six years.
04:41He's only played 69 of the Yankees' first 79 games this season and not going to play
04:45a ton going down the stretch.
04:47Meanwhile, interesting note here for these cable wars, I wonder if Simon Applebaum will
04:52talk about this with us, but the Miami Marlins are basically, because their games are not
04:57being broadcast on Comcast because of the rights fees and this dispute, they're basically
05:02saying we're going to let Miami fans watch this for free for two months through Bally
05:07Sports.
05:08They're going to pay for it so you can log in and watch baseball.
05:10I wonder if other teams are going to do this as well with all these carriage issues going
05:13on.
05:14Meanwhile, yesterday in Major League Baseball, Edwin Diaz was kicked out of the game before
05:18he threw a pitch.
05:19Apparently, too much sweat, too much rosin on the ball, sticky substance.
05:24Remember this in Major League Baseball when they incorporated this?
05:26It was a lot stricter, but yesterday before he pitched in the game, he was thrown out
05:31and Diaz said that basically he didn't use any foreign substance.
05:34It was just basically him doing his normal routine.
05:38Do you agree that this was stickier than you usually are or was it essentially the same
05:41in your eyes?
05:42I think it's the same.
05:43They always check me.
05:44They always check me and they let me pitch.
05:46Today was hotter than early in the season, so I don't know.
05:51They thought it was stickier, so I take the suspension.
05:54And will you adjust to anything going forward?
05:56No, I will keep using the same thing because they didn't find anything in my glove, my
06:00hand, my belt, so I will keep using it.
06:04Did they think you were using too much or did they think you were using an illegal substance?
06:08I think they were thinking I was using an illegal substance, but like I said to them,
06:14you can smell my hand.
06:15You can check.
06:16You can do whatever you want.
06:17We always use the same thing.
06:19Yes, that's right.
06:20Thank you, guys.
06:21All right, so that's the explanation from Diaz.
06:24The explanation from Carlos Mendoza, the manager, basically saying too much is not good enough.
06:31But, you know, they thought it was too much, you know.
06:35Diaz kept saying it was rosin, sweat, and dirt, and Vic thought that, you know, he crossed
06:41the line there, and, you know, obviously the rules are the rules, and, you know, they made
06:45the decision to throw him out.
06:46Did they say it was too much rosin or did they think it was a different substance?
06:49Yeah, he just, Vic said, you know, that's a little too much, and I got to do my job,
06:54and that was all to it, so.
06:57Are you okay with the way that all went down?
06:59Well, obviously, you know, the rules are the rules, you know, and MLB's doing what they're
07:04doing because they have, obviously, really good reasons, and we got to stand by, you
07:09know, and obviously Diaz went over, and, you know, obviously we'll feel it, you know, because
07:16we're going to play short now, and yeah, so we got to move on, and obviously we got to
07:22stick to the rules here.
07:24As Mendoza mentioned, Edwin Diaz will be suspended for this incident.
07:28And then now over in the WNBA, very exciting game last night, Angel Reese and the Chicago
07:33Sky come back to defeat Kaitlyn Clark and the Indiana Fever.
07:36Angel Reese, 25 points, and she is just grabbing those boards, 16 boards, again, for her yesterday.
07:4288-87, the final, meanwhile, the New York Liberty crushed the Atlanta Dream, 96-75.
07:47Brianna Stewart had 33 points.
07:50Cavalier is making other news today, closing in on an extension with Donovan Mitchell,
07:54and actually they hired their head coach today, the NBA draft, by the way, is coming up on
07:58Wednesday.
07:59In the NFL, the Green Bay Packers have approved a gentleman by the name of Ed Polisey as their
08:03new CEO, so he will take control over the Green Bay Packers.
08:08Oralvis Martinez, an infielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, gets an 80-game ban for a PED violation.
08:14Tommy Paul wins his first grass title at the U.S. men's ranks, and also Amy Yang wins the
08:19KPMG Women's Championship over the weekend on the women's side of golf.
