00:00Thanks, Adam. Thanks, J.T. We do hear that Juju Boomer did wave to the crowd while he
00:07was taking a ride off on the Alpine stars medical cart. Hopefully he's okay long term.
00:13Let's get ready for the second 250 moto. This is actually a restart. We had a crash. Red
00:18flag. Boomer waves to the crowd, but he will not participate in this moto. Now it is mark
00:25finis signaling for time, but they don't do that anymore. So the riders have to lock
00:33in. It is, again, a restart, and this will be the second and final 250 moto of the day
00:38in pro motocross. And mark finis' bike being pushed behind the start gate. It is not fired.
00:44It's a rider that led the second moto of our previous race. Time's up, boys. 30-second
00:50fly racing is up. And we're about to go a full race distance, 30 minutes and two laps
00:56in the sand of south wing. And there, first and second in the first moto. What will be
01:10the order this time? Here we go. Levi kensin. He's got the motosport.com hole shot. Deegan
01:23right next to him. Better start for Joe Shimoda on the Honda right there. First time we've
01:29seen him. Oh, Deegan, a huge scrub. And gets the lead. Whoa, that was close. That was close.
01:37He was going to scrub. That was a huge save by Deegan. Wow. But great move. Power move.
01:45And gets the lead from Kensin. Now, they had started this race one other time. It got restarted
01:53because of a crash. Kensin was out front. He got the hole shot again, but this time
01:58Deegan gets around. Yeah, Hayden wants to be out front so he can replicate what happened
02:02in that first moto. But it almost ended really quick right there. That was a nice save by
02:07him. But let's see what Tom Bial does. He knows he needs to be up there with Hayden
02:11Deegan. Let's see if he can get around Levi Kensin. But Levi's been riding good all day.
02:15I think he got better at doing that first moto. Maybe figured out some lines. He's going
02:19to have to do it to keep up with Hayden. Bial in third in orange. Yeah, took him too long
02:25to get to second in moto one to have any shot. And right now Kensin riding well in second
02:31of the monster pro circuit, Kawasaki in green. And Hayden Deegan, the reason he wanted to
02:36be up front, because vision is such a premium here at this racetrack. It's kind of like
02:40the mud races. When it's raining outside, you want to be out front. Here at south, there
02:45is no difference. So Hayden has an advantage just because he's ahead of these guys. That's
02:49why you saw the sense of urgency and that chance, that huge scrub that he almost didn't
02:54make, but he did. Was it the same jump in moto one that he was airing out? Yeah, it
02:59was the same jump. They fixed it a little bit. I think Hayden was going for the scrub.
03:03Here at southwick, as I was saying, it's slippery out there. He just lost both ends and almost
03:07went down, A.C. As we were talking about earlier, if you get in a position where you're a little
03:14bit behind and you have to ride more aggressive on a track like this, it becomes way easier
03:19to make mistakes. So for Levi kitchen, if he can get around Hayden Deegan quickly, strike
03:24back quickly, and yeah, maybe make him eat a little roost, I think that's his best shot.
03:30He's got to strike quick. Once Deegan gets a little breathing room, it could be over
03:34for these guys. It was in moto one, Adam, and it looked like kitchen was there, and
03:38then quickly Deegan stretches it back out. Let's see if those guys picked up to this
03:43line Hayden does. This is where he scrubbed. You see how much farther he jumps than everyone
03:47else. Look at the gap he's able to pull in front of those guys. He's just doing it. It's
03:52a lot easier on his body by doing that. So those guys are going to have to pick up on
03:56that. Otherwise he's going to keep pulling away. You can see the aggressiveness from
03:59Tom Vial. He's been a little bit more sense of urgency this moto than he was because he
04:04sees that number 38 getting away from him already.
04:07And Shimoda hanging tough in fourth. Savace is fifth.
04:11Let's see if Tom gets up. He goes around the outside. Now he has a run right here on Levi.
04:18Strong move. Now he's got to get back to the inside. Nice move by Tom Vial.
04:21So Vial in second. When he got to second in the first moto, he was nearly seven seconds
04:26off the lead. Now only 1.6. Now this is a race we wanted to see because
04:31Tom in that first moto, he had the same pace as Hayden and started closing it in, but that
04:36seven seconds, as you just mentioned, it was too far of a gap and too many chances he had
04:40to take. So let's see. He wanted to be here. He said it. He recouped after that first moto,
04:45halfway through it once he lost that tow. It's all about second moto. The battle's on.
04:51For the moto win and the overall. If Vial were to get Deegan, he would win the overall.
04:55A 2-1, 1-2 tie goes to the better second moto. So it's all on the line right now.
05:00Extended to Jason Thomas. Well, lurking behind that pack right there
05:04is the number 30 of Joe Shimoda who was dead last in the first moto but climbed all the
05:08way back to the top ten. Oh, and let's not forget last year he won a moto here. Very
05:13quietly. It wasn't talked about. It's all been about Hayden, Deegan and Tom Vial coming
05:17in. But Joe Shimoda was very, very fast here and he's got an opportunity here in moto two.
05:21Thanks, J.T. I think it was 6-1 in the moto scores last year's Shimoda. There he is in
05:27fourth. It might take Joe a couple laps to figure
05:31out the pace of these leaders because, yeah, he rode good and he was able to come all the
05:35way up to the top ten, but he wasn't on the pace because he didn't see it as Hayden, Deegan.
05:39So usually when that happens, it takes you a couple laps in the second moto if you haven't
05:44been out front to just get a feel of what these guys and then you can start attacking.
05:48So we'll probably see that from Joe as he's closing in on Levi.
05:52Sivacci fifth, master pull sixth. Jordan Smith, D. Francisco and Kasey Cochran round out the
05:58top ten about five minutes into this second moto for the 250s. And Shimoda's definitely
06:05putting the pressure on kitchen. Looking out right ahead. Tom Vial is closed in right
06:16on the back of Hayden, Deegan. So maybe what he was saying is right, reigning true, this
06:21moto looks good. Two battles to watch this one. Second and third. And like you said,
06:27up front, Vial trying to battle Deegan this time. And how much different is this track
06:35from what we've seen earlier today?
06:37It's quite a bit different from these guys. I think it's a lot closer to the first moto
06:41than it was the difference between practice and that first moto. So these guys should
06:44feel pretty comfortable. Just the bumps a little bit bigger. But I like what I'm seeing
06:48after Tom Vial starting to pick up his lines on Hayden, Deegan. And maybe he did have something
06:53for Hayden, Deegan. He just got caught up behind those lappers. And right now we're
06:58going to find out. But let's see how aggressive he is. Hayden's been talking a lot. There's
07:02a lot of noise and chitchat. And to me, the title for Tom Vial, unless something happens
07:07to Hayden, Deegan, his title hopes is right here in this moto and beating Hayden, Deegan
07:12as far as the mind-set.
07:13And a battle in the bottom. That is the Shimoda. We've got Shimoda in kitchen and Savace in
07:19master pool who we're going to watch here. Fifth and sixth. And then Hymus seventh. Hymus
07:26third in the first moto. Not as good a start this time. Deegan has stretched it back out.
07:31Yeah, Tom Vial made a mistake. And as we've been talking all day, that 1.5 was really
07:36one mistake in the corner just sliding out. So he's got to go back to work. And that's
07:40why being out front besides just the vision is so key here. Because now he has to take
07:45those chances and catch Hayden, Deegan. And clearly he can do that. But what is the risk
07:50of doing that? We're going to find out.
07:52You mean to go fast enough to catch him, he's got to risk a little more?
07:55Yeah, he's got to risk a little bit more. Because clearly he has the pace. But as he
07:58makes one mistake, you just lose a second here and there. And besides the time, it's
08:03just demoralizing. It's hard work. Now you've got to regroup and do it again. But I want
08:08to see if Tom picks up on this line. Because this is where Hayden Deegan has been faster
08:12than everybody else by jumping out. And the lap before, Tom didn't do that. You see, Hayden
08:16jumps a little bit farther. And just look at the time difference that he loses. So Tom's
08:21definitely going to have to pick up on that line and just jump farther.
08:26Oh, Deegan tips over! And Vial off the track, but able to take the lead. And he puts his
08:32hand up. Oh, and Deegan, more problems getting up. Vial wants to make absolutely sure he
08:37doesn't get penalized. And Deegan's got to fix the clutch lever on the bike. Hammer it
08:45on the handlebars there. Well, that was a big change.
08:49That was a huge change. And this is what we talked about as far as Ryder having to put
08:54Jett Lawrence and Hayden Deegan in that spot. Make them have to ride harder. And Tom Vial,
08:59by being close, by being there, push Hayden. Because we saw earlier, he would just take
09:03his time going to that corner. He pushed it down there, lost the front end. Can happen
09:07easily here at Southwick. But you've got to believe that crash was a little bit of Tom
09:12Vial being there. Here we go. It's going to be the next corner.
09:16Everything looks good. He's pushing down there. Tom Vial is still right there. And he just
09:20tucks the front end. That's what you call burying the front end. Burying that bike in
09:23here. He just lost it. The bike stops because of how deep this sand is. And he was down
09:28on the ground. Everything looks good. Berms there. Now sticks right there. Now you can
09:35tell he was a little bit wider than he wanted to be. As you can see that front tire actually
09:40going over that berm. Did he want to be more where Vial was?
09:43Yeah. He wanted to be a little bit lower because the berm blows away. But the reason he was
09:47in there as deep as he was because of Tom Vial was close on him. Just rushing a little
09:52bit. There you go. He's on the ground. Now let's get him back up to the gate. Let's see
09:56if he can come back up. Yeah. Because Deegan in sixth now. And it's Tom Vial's race to
10:00lose as Deegan tries to battle his way back forward. Deegan already making moves. Did
10:18he already get master pool there? I don't know if Ty actually got around him or Hayden
10:23stayed in front. Either way, this is where the pass matters. I think there's a lot of
10:28pressure on Tom Vial now because Hayden didn't go down. I think it's a lot harder for him
10:33to be where he's at now and having Hayden so far back than if Hayden would have just
10:38passed him and Hayden would have been there. Now we saw Hayden beat ten seconds back and
10:42catch those guys. So Tom Vial somewhat is going to be riding behind him until the end
10:46of this race because of the history and how strong Hayden is at the end of the motors.
10:51you're watching Hymus and master pool in a great battle. Sixth and seventh. Yeah. Last
10:56week Deegan made up huge time late in the motors. So you think Vial might be thinking
11:01about that? Oh, absolutely. I mean, sometimes I felt like it was easier once the guy was
11:05just on you. You knew exactly what he was doing. Now Tom's got to wonder, okay, he went
11:10down. Was I faster than him? Like, is the guy, does he got more pace? And now he doesn't
11:16know that because Hayden went down and now Hayden has to catch him compared to just passing
11:20him. And look, I just know I'm quicker. You're going to find out in the next couple laps
11:24how strong Tom is and how he's feeling. If he can pull away from Joe Shimoda and keep
11:28that gap, then I think he'll be fine. But if Hayden closes that gap, then Tom's going
11:32to be riding behind him. And I wouldn't be surprised if you see that number 38 back battling
11:36for the lead towards the end. Max Anstey got our first look at him, had the struggles in
11:42moto one where the bike got hit in the first turn and couldn't even do a lap. Jordan Smith
11:47on the 31 there as well. He's battling it out with Hymus. Let's reset the order. It's
11:52Vial, Shimoda, kitchen. Savacci fourth. Deegan up to fifth. And he's already closing on Savacci.
12:00Yeah, Hayden wants a chance. He's got to make sure he clears these guys, doesn't get stuck
12:06behind him. Has visions of premium A.C. With Deegan going down like that, there's two ways
12:14you can respond as a rider. You can say in your head, oh, man, I just ruined my perfect
12:20day. Everything was going great. And while you're out there moping around, everybody's
12:24going by you. Or you can have an offensive mentality, focus on what's in front of you
12:28and do your best. So I really see that same aggression I saw before from Hayden. Looks
12:33like he took a lap or two to regroup, but he's right back to it. And that's just attitude.
12:38his natural kind of disposition to just go for it. And this is a must win now for Vial.
12:47And it looks like a quick pass. Deegan is already around Savacci. If I have this right,
12:54I think he got Hymus, master pole and Savacci now since the crash. I want to check the lap
12:59times. Deegan at 217. Oh, Vial has dropped the hammer. He dropped a 215 down.
13:05If you look at the time, it was nine seconds. It's still around that same time. It's ten
13:09seconds now. And I think Hayden's mad. One, he's going to want to just prove that narrative
13:16that, okay, Tom didn't pressure me into going to mistake. I just made a mistake. And we
13:20saw how he reacted a few weeks ago when Tom got around him. He wanted to make his make
13:25do everything to get back around. So I think that's what you're starting to see. And so
13:29to me, Hayden's probably going to ride as quick as he did all day long. If he's going
13:33to stay up on the motorcycle, we'll find out. But his attitude is to go back and try
13:36to win this race. And he did it at high point. He came from the back both times at our last
13:41race. So he knows he can do it. And he is almost up to kitchen third. And there's still
13:47a lot of racing left. 17 minutes and two laps. Adam, what are you thinking down there?
14:00James, I wanted to ask you, we know that Hayden Deegan isn't scared to be himself on the podium
14:07in the interviews. There's no doubt he's getting under these guys's skin. But in a situation
14:12like this, where he talks to talk and something like this happens, do you think it puts more
14:17pressure on him? Do you think he feels that? Or do you think he's just naturally go forward
14:23and only focus on what's in front of him? No, I do think it puts more pressure on him
14:28to talk the talk and back it up. And I think with Hayden here, it's more of the everything
14:36that you've been saying. You've been talking about, like, these guys think they got a chance
14:39to squash that. And the one narrative he doesn't want is anyone feeling like they can pressure
14:45him to make mistakes. So to me, I think Hayden's riding with that, look, I need to be back
14:51up front. So, yeah, it puts pressure on him. But I think he's riding to stop what's possibly
14:55going to happen in the future. So, yeah, some guys buckle under pressure. I don't think
15:00Hayden does that in this situation. And it is because of his attitude. But Hayden Deegan's
15:05riding like a man on a mission. There you go.
15:09And the mechanic, Brent Duffey, puts on the pit board, catching 16. That's the leader.
15:14They're motivating their guy. 250 moto 2, pro moto cross from southwick in the smx world
15:21championship. Hayden Deegan crashed while leading. He is now caught third place rider.
15:27Levi kitchen. Tom Fialdo out front looking to capitalize.
15:32And Joe Shimoda was the fastest rider on the track that last lap. But that answers your
15:36question right there. The mechanic, he knows where Hayden's mind is set. And he knows they're
15:41not even worried about Levi kitchen and Joe Shimoda. He's putting on their 16. So that's
15:46telling you where Hayden's going, where his team believes and how important his win is.
15:51If he can still get there, he's going to try to go up the inside of Levi. Levi closes that
15:55door. Nice move.
15:56Last time around, Deegan was a tenth quicker than Vial and Shimoda was a tenth quicker
16:01than Deegan. So Shimoda in second riding well also as kitchen tries to fend Deegan off.
16:08About halfway through this one.
16:11Yeah, Levi's definitely riding better than he did that first moto. You can tell he's
16:16getting a little bit more flow. So for him, that's good to see. And he's starting to stop
16:21that train of Hayden Deegan. And truthfully, I feel like there's more pressure on Tom Vial
16:25than it is on Hayden at this point. Because now Tom's supposed to win this race. And now
16:30it's going to be up to Hayden to see if he can stop it. So Hayden got a good points lead.
16:34So he's riding a little bit free. He has a little bit of buffer room. But you can tell
16:37he's trying. He's making some mistakes. But Levi's doing a good job of holding him off.
16:46Deegan trying to set up around the outside of this next left-hand turn. He made moves
16:52here earlier. Can he close it off? He's got it.
16:56That pass was done. You can see that one coming. Hayden's got that roll speed, that momentum.
17:01And he's charging. And a lot of that comes from what your mechanic just put on the pit
17:05board. It tells you as a rider, your mindset, when your mechanic puts captain 16, the leader,
17:11it just tells you that they want you up front. So it keeps you racing forward, not even in
17:15the guy in front of you. And that's what's happening.
17:18More than a second quicker than the leader when you look at the lap times. 1.2 seconds
17:24quicker than Vial. The fans now getting into it. Let's check back in with Vial.
17:29Yeah, I think Tom's going to hopefully change his lines right up here. Because he's still
17:34losing that time. Not jumping all the way down where Hayden was. That's where Hayden
17:38went down that first moto. But Hayden, if he starts closing that gap, oh, boy, you're
17:43going to see a little beast mode junior come out. 38. And we've seen that before. And we
17:48know how that one ends. That's hard to hold. Old beast mode Eli
17:52Tomac back. And look at Vial hopping the bumps. He's got a lot of experience in the sand.
18:00The two-time world champion from France. They run a lot of sand over there in Europe.
18:06Send it to Adam. Sometimes when you get a lead like Tom Vial
18:12did when he saw Hayden crash like that, sometimes you can go into a bit of, you know, that's
18:17his main competition. You can go to a bit of kind of conservative mode, just kind of
18:22checking your lead and riding not at 100%. And what happens with somebody like Hayden
18:27who's ripping through the field, if he starts getting closer and all of a sudden he has
18:31to up the pace towards the end of the moto, that's going to be really difficult to do
18:36if he is just managing the race. So hopefully the mechanics on the pit board telling him
18:41that Deegan is still in this thing because he's coming. This is must-see TV.
18:46We're here for it, no doubt. And don't count out Shimoda who is running the same pace as
18:51well in second. Deegan would still have to go after him before he could even think about
18:56Vial. Although we think he's already thinking about Vial.
18:59If he wasn't thinking, let him know. Tom is doing a good job of responding. As we've been
19:07talking with Hayden and Jett Lawrence, when you're out front now, it's up to Hayden to
19:12be perfect to try to catch you. What risk is he taking to do that? As long as you can
19:17keep hitting your marks, you might have a chance to hold this off. Hopefully Hayden
19:21just kind of maybe gives up. But we know he ain't going to do that.
19:27And let's get the lap time in a moment. There's the mechanic. Legs. What's that mean?
19:37Maybe he's letting him know he ain't got no legs. I'm assuming he's probably telling him
19:42stand up a little bit more. Use your legs with the bike. Probably something that's going
19:47on. He's maybe sitting down a little bit more or he wants him to use his legs to kind
19:52of soak up some of these bumps. Either way, he needs to change it up. When your mechanics
19:57throw on something like that, that means they've already had that conversation in between the
20:00moto that Tom would know exactly what legs mean.
20:04And the last time around, both Shimoda and Vial were quicker than Deegan. I was talking
20:09to you, J.T. And Adam yesterday about what the legs and also the back feel like when
20:15you get to this final stage of the second moto on this track.
20:19It's tough. You'll start seeing these guys sitting down. And usually just the lap riders,
20:25you'll start seeing them sitting down. And as J.T. Mentioned earlier, they start going
20:29a little bit farther on the inside trying to move these bumps. But right now, Tom Vial,
20:33no legs, no back. He ain't got no choice. He needs to go out there and get it done,
20:36J.T.
20:37One other thing I was thinking about, these guys riding. People don't like sitting at
20:40home if you don't race or ride. You don't think about it so much. But riders use their
20:45legs so much to squeeze the motorcycle and it holds it stable and it holds it still.
20:50So when they're going through these bumps and they're trying to control the motorcycle
20:53because they have to hold on so tight through the sand because the bike is wanting to go
20:57every way but straight. So your legs are really more of a stabilizer. You're squeezing the
21:03sides of the bike to make it go where you want to go. So it could be just a reminder
21:06of that as well.
21:08All right. Let's see if the L can hold it. The gap between he and Deegan has stabilized
21:13at least for the moment. Ten minutes and two laps to go.
21:36Another lap clicks off for V.L., James.
21:39Yeah, Tom, he's responding. You notice a few times when guys start sitting down a little
21:45bit more, they start getting tired. They try to sit down in little spots. You saw that
21:49on that last straightaway, Tom was standing and he sat down. That bike swapped out from
21:53underneath him. You can tell with him, it's normal for all these guys, the legs to start
21:58feeling, the back to start going out. But Tom is doing a good job at least holding Hayden
22:04at that nine seconds. And eventually, Hayden will start focusing on Joe Shimoda and not
22:09worry about Tom if Tom can keep this gap for a couple more laps.
22:15This is the critical juncture. The final stretch of what might be the toughest track physically
22:21they'll deal with this season. Checking in with Hymus. He is in eighth. So not as strong
22:29in this moto. And he's in a battle right now. A masterful. They've been close the entire
22:35time. Checking with the fly racing riders. Hymus eighth. Kasey Cochran is 11th, the rookie
22:41on the rock star Husqvarna. And Dylan Schwartz after getting run into in moto one. Good to
22:46see him still fighting hard in 19th. And if Hymus is able to make two passes, he would
22:51actually, I believe, salvage overall podium today. He's got to get back near kitchen to
22:57be third overall. He's coming up on one of the hardest and strongest riders on the track
23:03with Ty Masterpool. So that's not going to be an easy feat. But Ty has been riding good
23:08all day. Chance has as well. So being your first time at Southwick, you're really about
23:12to find out what Southwick is all about. You've got eight minutes to see if you can get around
23:17a couple more guys and maybe get your first podium at your first visit here.
23:21Hymus said Idaho said there is plenty of sand in Idaho. And this kid is known for gnarly
23:29training. There is the 31 of Jordan Smith. He slipped by Masterful. Yeah. Yeah, he slipped
23:38by and now he's up to Sabachi. Sabachi is the rider ahead of him. So Smith up to sixth.
23:43Good ride. Joey's been riding good all day long and source Jordan. Thank you. Might have
23:49went down that first motor, but he had quiet top ten finish, I believe. And he's another
23:54rider that always has some speed but starts and crashes and just bad luck for him. Every
24:00motor that he finishes this season, he'll just get stronger and stronger. And as I mentioned
24:04a few weeks ago, he was leading the points. The West Coast, the title that Tom Viall won.
24:10He was one of his biggest competition, him and Levi. So it's no stranger to being out
24:14front and knowing how to win these things. He just needs confidence at this point. Yeah,
24:18he started the year pretty strong, did Jordan, and trailed off, getting it back together
24:23here as he chases down Sabachi. And Sabachi, man, he takes it on the chin. Starts haven't
24:30been good, but I saw him yesterday and he said, well, Deegan, he proved he can come
24:34through the back, so I'm not using that as an excuse. And that's the way Sabachi has
24:37always been as he's digging deep here in fifth. Supermoto cross playoffs, two full
24:50days of X and X fun. You want to be there when history gets made. That'll be in Concord,
24:55North Carolina, Charlotte motor speedway, Fort Worth, Texas, and Texas motor speedway
24:59and Las Vegas. The strip at Las Vegas, the drag strip that's all part of the Las Vegas
25:06motor speedway complex. Go to Supermoto cross dot com for info. Smith and Sabachi, two veterans
25:14of the two fifty division, both in their late twenties. It gets a bunch of young guys in
25:21this class. Sabachi holding strong. Yeah, Joey's looking really good. Still pounding
25:27away. Been right. Good all year. But bad stars crashes here and there. Probably run better
25:34than the results. Good to see him. Looks like the team might have figured out what
25:39was going on with the bike or at least making some changes. Heard that little rev up. Hopefully
25:45Jordan can get to him. Got past the rider so he didn't get caught up as well. Nice to
25:51see Joey up here fighting top five for the triumph and see if Jordan Smith can get around
25:56them. All right. Final moments here of the final two fifty moto of the day at Southwick.
26:06But stay with us, because four fifty moto two is coming your way. It's Joey Sabachi
26:10on the seventeen. The triumph holding off the thirty one of Jordan Smith. The battles
26:15have settled down, so we're going to give you the moto sport dot com whole shot replay
26:18here. Levi Kitchen in green. Yeah, I believe I was just on the inside and you could see
26:23look like Tom. Yeah, he got there ahead of Hayden Deegan, but he was worried about Hayden
26:28running a little bit wide. So Tom left that door open. But it was Hayden Deegan. I mean,
26:34Levi Kitchen getting that whole shot. And then soon after, here's the scrub that we
26:38saw Hayden Deegan. Oh, wow. Scrub or save either way. Put Deegan into the lead. Yeah,
26:46I'm going to say it has to say he meant to scrub it, but it slid out from underneath.
26:51The way he moved up into the lead. But that was beautiful to watch. And that gap has stayed
26:57right around the nine point four to nine point eight second mark between Deegan and the leader
27:03VL really ever since then. Shimoda all alone in second. I believe the overall podium today
27:12would look like VL, Deegan and Kitchen if it ends like this. And I think what's helped
27:18Tom is that Joe's been riding really good, like he's been keeping them very honest, like
27:23Joe is the fastest person on the track over over a second. He doesn't necessarily have
27:28to worry about. Hey, he has another guy on them that's keeping them and pushing him forward.
27:32So as much as we were worried about Hayden, Tom had to worry about Joe that number thirty
27:37catching him as well. And that's probably helped him keep that gap and keep on the gas
27:42knife in Moto one for Shimoda after a terrible start. This is much more like it. He won the
27:47second photo at this race a year ago and running second now. Rider out of Japan on
27:54the Honda. Lap rider really slowed him there. Yeah, it's gonna be tough for Joe, but he
28:02was on the same straightaway as Tom. Now he's gotten to the point to where when he comes
28:05out of some of these corners, he can see Tom. And as a rider, you can see him. You feel
28:09like you got a chance. So this race might not be over. And I think Joe gets around him.
28:15And then that's gonna change overall. And to behave, you know, would end up winning
28:18overall second in Moto one. So that would be enough to one. We'll get it for VL. But
28:26what's important here is that every championship points are paid out. Promote. Yeah, I was
28:32thinking of Joe actually beat. Oh, Joe does. Yes, you're right. Yeah. If Joe can get to
28:37be out. Yeah, you're right. Actually, James, he's cut it down. It had been about five seconds.
28:41The whole race. Now it's down to three. Yeah. And Joe got stuck behind a lot. Rotter. So
28:46to me, he's got a lot more pace, and it was closing down quite a bit. Look at the lap
28:49times. Shimoda ran up to 18. VL ran a 2 21 and Deegan a 2 20. So VL and Deegan has slowed
28:56the pace. Now they might have had one mistake or a lap rider. Or is it just Shimoda going
29:01that much faster? He's still closing. No, this is Joe Shimoda being Joe Shimoda like
29:06we we expected to see because he got caught up behind that lap router, and he was still
29:10ran at 2 18. So that would have been faster. And you could see how quickly he's catching
29:16What has happened here? It's Joe time. That's what it is. I better put the hammer down.
29:24Shimoda can see him going to be three, maybe four laps to go. Shimoda is letting it hang
29:38out. He's letting it hang out. And you know, he's got that confidence from last year. Been
29:42able to get a win here, too. And he went up against Tom VL. So for him, if you get
29:47a little bit closer, we have a race at him. I'm good friends with Joe, and we talk about
29:53all the time. We talk about finding the dog. You know, he's very he's very precise. He
29:59doesn't make he doesn't make really bad decisions out there. Sometimes he's been a bit too timid
30:05in the past. And again, we talked about finding the dog, James, and it looks like he's found
30:09it. You got that dog in him right now, but I believe the L might have responded. He didn't
30:15get any closer since he got near him at the beginning of this lap. Yeah, well, Tom, don't
30:22get away. That dog might bite him. Yeah, Joe. Tom's definitely responded. And hey, is not
30:31too far behind these guys as well. So, you know, Joe catches him. They start battling.
30:37Hey, it's gonna be right there. Oh, we got a podium shake up. If you look at the bottom box
30:43battle for six, Kitchen has gone all the way back to sixth place. That's the bocce and Smith
30:48battle. They both got around him, so that will now move Shimoda to the overall podium.
30:53Even if it ends like this, we'll go to third overall. Kitchen had it. Yeah, it looks like
30:59Levi went down to 32 on that last lap, and everybody else on it is to 19 to 22. So,
31:07yeah, Levi must have went down on that one, and the clock didn't expire. So there's still
31:12three laps to go or two and a half. At least clock just expired. Now it'll be two to go
31:18next time around. So the owl almost had two to go instead. Three and digging is starting to close.
31:26And if you look at the second moto last week, it was only at this point,
31:29the last three laps, where Deegan started taking huge chunks out of the leaders.
31:36It's Kitchen and Hymus now. Yeah, man. Hey, look at Deegan. He's doing it again.
31:43Hey, Deegan's coming, and then Joe's gonna start around behind him, and it's just gonna push him
31:47up to Tom. So as I said, this race might not be over. We're thinking Joe was going for the lead.
31:53It might be the other way around. We know who definitely has that dog in him.
31:57Deegan does. He shows it every week. Can he do this again? Crowds going wild.
32:04I mean, you gotta know. That's what I mentioned that history of what
32:08what happens. These guys know. Hey, Deegan and Hayden believes that in himself, too. So he knows.
32:13Look, man, if I'm here, I know I'm stronger than him. He's gonna will himself to get around
32:18in a time that he's made up in the last two last almost seven seconds that he's closed
32:23down on these guys to get within three seconds of the leader. He made up 10 on the leader.
32:28Masterful in two laps. Last race at high point. Tom. Yeah, I feel it's at the L. They wait to
32:36the rear wheel of the Alex, a three rider battle for the lead. And the Southwick faithful loving
32:44it. Samoan is right on the house rear wheel in their in lap traffic. Now it's the two riders
32:51in the front of the screen. Samoan is about to take the lead. Yeah, I don't know if there's
32:55something wrong with Tom's bike, but it doesn't seem like it's rolling, especially out of the
33:00corners. It looks like his clutch is slipping and whatnot. Samoan has it back. Dig it in the
33:07picture as well. So Samoan now to the lead. What just happened? What just happened? You can see
33:13Tom. I don't know if he got caught sleeping, but now there's two laps left. He's sending it back
33:18down to take the lead back from Samoan. Not enough on the inside. That book cost him two to go.
33:30And you called it, James. That passive Samoan against digging the overall win,
33:33but you know he wants to pass. He wants to pass him, and he will. If it might be right here,
33:39let's see. Favorite section. I couldn't get the big jump, but with the lap traffic, he still
33:44might be able to get around. No, holds him off. Nice move. Thought better of it. But I think he
33:50knows he's strong. And as much time as he made on Tom, he feels like he's going to make a pass.
33:54Probably let Joe Shimoda's pulling away. But wow, what a comeback. And what just happened
33:59with Tommy out? Yeah, I don't understand. A 2 21 Shimoda to 18 digging a 2 17.
34:08Hey, made a little mistake. And I wonder where there's some other parts of track.
34:11Hey, almost goes off the racetrack right there. Now you could see
34:14Tommy out responding and Joe Shimoda still right in front of him. So
34:19race for the win is not over. There's a battle for the lead. First, second, third.
34:24Yeah, the ebb and flow of it. The owl now staying with Shimoda after Shimoda caught him
34:29huge in about a lap and a half and holding digging off as well.
34:33This is fantastic stuff. Yeah, I'm just sitting here in my race. Yeah, you can see Hayden. I
34:39thought he made a mistake, but that might have been his line selections. AC, what do you see
34:43down there? Guys, I don't know what just happened, but Hayden as he makes a mistake there, Hayden
34:50close in on those guys so fast that that burst of energy, that burst of speed that he has,
34:55sometimes it's just a matter of time before he's able to get back on track.
34:59So I think that's what we're seeing right now. All right, we could be readying for it. Who's
35:16going to get it? Shimoda looking to win the moto, and it could affect the overall as well. Right now,
35:22Deegan would have the overall with a 3.1. By one championship point. White flag coming out.
35:30Yeah, you're talking about rotting a motorcycle. Hayden smoking right now,
35:34and that's because how hard he's been on the throttle, and as Adam was mentioning, like, yeah,
35:39he's able to catch him, but then he's getting excited. He's starting to blow the corners out,
35:43and if he rode like he did as he was catching it, he would, but that's hard to do, and Joe
35:48almost goes down right now. Almost tucks the front end. Tom said, hey, pass.
35:53Adjust clutch, they tell Deegan. How do you do that?
35:56Yeah, I don't think he's on the bars. I don't know if he's even thinking about that.
35:59There's a little knob over there you can spin, but, you know, basically what that means is,
36:03like, hey, remember, we got to finish this moto. We don't want to give 25 points up because we,
36:08you know, rode too hard, but here's Hayden down the inside. Let's see.
36:12Hayden down the inside, but Fiala's caught Shimoda. Fiala has to pass Shimoda to win
36:16the race overall. Who's going to get it? Unbelievable last lap battle.
36:22Yeah, and Tom's in a tough spot because he wants to get around Joe, but he has to leave the door
36:26open to do that, and you know if Hayden sees it open, he's going to kick it in. Oh, Fiala goes
36:32down. Bummer. Bummer for Tom. You have to wonder what happened when he had that big lead because
36:43he was able to respond, but he put himself in a bad spot, and Deegan is looking at the overall
36:49thinking just get the bike to the finish. Now look at the riding style of Hayden. Now he's
36:54realizing, okay, Joe's not in his thing. I'm going to get the overall. His whole body position
36:59changed once Tom Fiala went down. That just shows you he don't want to leave anything for chance.
37:06What a race and what a response by Joe Shimoda after that first moto and Hayden Deegan never to
37:11give up. Two weekends in a row we saw Tom Fiala kind of give up a possible victory.
37:18It'll be the first moto win for Shimoda with Hollonda. First one for him since the
37:22finale last year in pro motocross at Ironman. You got to wonder what if.
37:28Bad start in moto one, finished ninth. He's looking at 9.1.
37:34Will be up on the podium overall today. That was a wild last lap.
37:40What a race. What a race. He brought this thing. It's definitely Joe time.
37:45Well, he shows he can get it done.
37:49That's a clutch ride to get me out late. Joe Shimoda going to win moto two.
37:56But Hayden Deegan does it again. Magic down the stretch, pulls out the overall one, two scores
38:03for the win.
