Singaporean singer-actor Aliff Aziz and Malaysian actress Ruhainies have pleaded not guilty to charges of committing khalwat or close proximity at a condo unit in Bukit Bintang four months ago.

00:00Singaporean singer-actor Alif Aziz and Malaysian actress Ruhainis have pleaded not guilty to

00:13Their pleas were made before Shari'i Judge Abu Sufian Abu Yaziz at the Federal Territory
00:18Sharia High Court in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
00:22The offence was allegedly committed at a condominium unit in Bukit Bintang at 12.35am on March
00:299.
00:3033-year-old Alif was charged under Section 27A of the Sharia Criminal Offences, Federal
00:37Territories Act 1997, while Ruhainis, aged 31, was charged under Section 27B of the same
00:45Act.
00:46They face a maximum fine of 3,000 ringgit or imprisonment of not more than two years
00:52or both if convicted.
00:54The court set October 17 for case re-mention and extended their bail bond until the end
00:59of the case.
01:00Alif was married to actress Bella Astilla, who filed for divorce days after the actor
01:05and Ruhainis were nabbed by religious authorities for suspected khalwat.
