Comedian Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmad, 41, popularly known as Along Cham, has been charged at the Sepang Sessions Court with having in his possession 58.23g of cannabis.

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman on Friday (Dec 20).

00:00A 41-year-old comedian was charged at the Sepang Sessions Court on Friday with drug
00:07possession.
00:08Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmad, popularly known as Ah Long Cham, pleaded not guilty when the
00:14charge was read before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.
00:17He was accused of possessing 58.23 grams of cannabis at his residence in Cyberjaya on
00:23December 14.
00:25He was charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, which is punishable under
00:31Section 39A, Subsection 2 of the same Act.
00:36He faces between five years jail and life imprisonment, as well as a minimum of 10 strokes
00:41of the cane, upon conviction.
00:44During proceedings, the father of four children aged between four and 13 appealed for bail.
00:50However, no bail was offered, and the court set January 27 for mention.
00:56Ah Long Cham was then brought to the Magistrate's Court, where he was charged with possessing
01:002.07 grams of cannabis at the same place, time and date, to which he also pleaded not
01:07guilty.
01:08Magistrate Muhammad Bukhori Mudruslan allowed bail of 2,500 ringgit with one surety, and
01:14set February 28 for mention.
01:17Ah Long Cham first gained popularity through the reality TV show Raja Lawak, and has appeared
01:23in various comedy programmes.
01:25It was reported that a police interrogation revealed he had been using drugs for eight
01:30years.
01:31Urine tests following his arrest showed he was positive for THC.
