00:12This means some 5 million HEA claims and over 4,000 COVID-19 sickness and death compensation claims
00:18will finally be paid to workers who've been waiting since the pandemic.
00:22In April 2022, former President Rodrigo Duterte signed a law granting benefits and allowances
00:28to health workers during public health emergencies.
00:31The allowance ranges from 3,000 to 9,000 pesos every month,
00:34depending on the risk classification of where health workers are deployed.
00:38They're entitled to a separate compensation package if they got COVID-19.
00:43Health spokesperson Albert Domingo reminds hospital managers to sort out requirements
00:47to avoid further delays in payouts.
00:50Iloilo 1st District Rep. Janet Garin says the release of the allowances was, quote,
00:55long overdue.
