00:00Little Miss Neat and the Last Leaf.
00:29Original Concept by Roger Hargraves.
00:32Written and Illustrated by Adam Hargraves.
00:37Little Miss Neat likes things to be neat, which is why she is called Little Miss Neat.
00:44She likes things to be as neat as two pins, which is why her cottage is called Two-Pin
00:50Cottage.
00:55One autumn day, Little Miss Neat looked out of her window to admire her very neat garden.
01:01As she looked, a leaf fell from the tree in the middle of her lawn.
01:06Oh, goodness gracious, she cried.
01:09What a mess!
01:14She rushed outside, picked up the leaf, and went back indoors and put the leaf in her
01:19garbage bin.
01:20That's better, she said to herself.
01:26But when she looked out of the window again, there was another leaf lying on her immaculate
01:32lawn.
01:33Out she rushed again and picked up the leaf and put it in the garbage bin.
01:41And so it went all day long, rushing backwards and forwards until it was too dark to see
01:48anything.
01:49Poor Little Miss Neat was exhausted.
01:51I don't like autumn, she murmured to herself as she fell asleep.
02:00The next morning was even worse.
02:03Little Miss Neat had to sprint to keep up with the falling leaves.
02:07And that was how Mr. Happy found her at lunchtime, running backwards and forwards.
02:16You look exhausted, said Mr. Happy.
02:19I am, puffed Miss Neat, but I have to pick up all these horrid, messy leaves.
02:25Do you know what I do? said Mr. Happy.
02:28I wait until all the leaves have fallen, and then I pick them up.
02:33You ought to try it, it's much easier.
02:39After Mr. Happy had left, Miss Neat thought about what he had said and decided she would
02:44try it.
02:45But it was easier said than done.
02:48Poor Little Miss Neat worried and fretted and fretted and worried as the leaves slowly
02:53covered her lawn.
02:55She hated it.
03:00But eventually all the leaves had fallen.
03:03Well, nearly all the leaves.
03:06There was just one leaf left on the tree.
03:09Little Miss Neat waited, and waited, and waited.
03:17When it got too dark to see, she got a flashlight torch and waited, and waited, and waited,
03:25all night long.
03:30And that was how Mr. Happy found her the next morning, still waiting.
03:38What are you doing? asked Mr. Happy.
03:42What you suggested I do, replied Miss Neat.
03:45I'm waiting for all the leaves to fall.
03:48Mr. Happy smiled, reached up, and plucked the last leaf from the tree.
03:55Oh, said Miss Neat, suddenly feeling rather foolish, and she blushed.
04:07Mr. Happy helped her to rake up all the leaves.
04:10And by tea time, Little Miss Neat's garden was as neat and as tidy as it usually was.
04:16You know what you should do next year? said Mr. Happy.
04:19Oh, please, no more suggestions, cried Miss Neat.
04:25Oh, don't worry, said Mr. Happy.
04:30You'll like this one.
04:31I think that next year you should go on a holiday and ask Mr. Busy to clear up the leaves.
04:37It wouldn't take him a minute.
04:39What a good idea, said Miss Neat.
04:42You've taken a leaf out of my book, smiled Mr. Happy.
04:47And turned over a new leaf, chuckled Miss Neat.
04:50You can leaf through the holiday brochures, giggled Mr. Happy.
04:57And I can leave the leaves behind, laughed Miss Neat.
05:01Oh, stop, laughed Mr. Happy.
05:05Leaf me alone.
05:07I hope you enjoyed that story.
