00:00Hello?
00:01Hello?
00:02Raven, girl, are you there?
00:03I'm Yvonne from Brooklyn, New York, and I'm representing the L's, the B's, and the Q's.
00:18I'm representing the whole damn alphabet.
00:20Where is everybody?
00:21How am I going to school these children if there's nobody here?
00:24Am I the first one?
00:26My makeup style is creative, colorful, and unapologetic.
00:30I think I'm the one to beat in this competition because I have been working fashion week for
00:35ten years.
00:36That is the most high-pressure environment you could possibly put yourself in, and I
00:39actually thrive in it.
00:40If there's anyone else there, I mean, come on in.
00:43I am not a diva until you cross me, and then diva comes out.
00:47Hi!
00:48Hey!
00:49Hi, my name is Taj Patterson.
00:52I am representing Portland, Oregon.
00:54I'm 29 years old.
00:56I'm better known as Flawless Shade, the sickening drag queen, and I'm going to win this $25,000.
01:00I don't want just a sip.
01:01I'll take the whole glass.
01:02You're gorgeous.
01:03Thank you.
01:04She's polished, honey.
01:05Thank you.
01:06Wow.
01:07I love the compliments.
01:08Yes.
01:09You tell me I'm beautiful.
01:10Thank you.
01:11Say it again.
01:12I look good?
01:13Thank you.
01:14I just know that I look sick.
01:15Dang it.
01:16Sorry about the ego, but not really.
01:17I love the paint splatter.
01:18Thank you.
01:19I'm like a deadly New York vibe.
01:20She's Yvonne the artist, darling.
01:21Get into it.
01:22I'm blunt and direct.
01:23What I say is what I mean, and it usually gets me in trouble, but one of my things is
01:24like always being myself.
01:25So are you nervous to be in this competition?
01:26Nervous?
01:27No.
01:28Ready?
01:29Absolutely.
01:30I normally do drag, so this, to be in a makeup competition that's not a drag competition,
01:31is really new and exciting for me.
01:32Oh my God, there's so many people.
01:33I'm so nervous.
01:34Oh my God.
01:35Oh my God.
01:36Oh my God.
01:37Oh my God.
01:38Oh my God.
01:39Oh my God.
01:40Oh my God.
01:41Oh my God.
01:42Oh my God.
01:43Oh my God.
01:44Oh my God.
01:45Oh my God.
01:50Oh my God, my daughter's here.
01:51My name is Ryan, last name Champion, and I'm here to collect my 25 grand.
01:57My name is Ryan Champion.
01:58I'm from Waldorf, Maryland.
01:59I'm a professional makeup artist and content creator.
02:02Work!
02:03I first got into makeup when I used to work retail.
02:07All the ladies seemed to love my looks, so after that, I decided to kind of get online
02:11and teach women how to apply it.
02:14Eventually, I started to make money.
02:15Get into this thing.
02:16Okay.
02:17Get into this thing.
02:18This face, you look so good!
02:21Ryan, I live for this eye.
02:23I'm stunned by all this beauty, though.
02:25Oh my gosh, you're absolutely stunning.
02:27This blend is giving me life right now.
02:30It's not even face-tuned either.
02:32Come on!
02:34I do think I have a makeup obsession,
02:36but I am a mother, and I have to be responsible,
02:40so I will put a little coin to the side.
02:42I became a mother at 22, so it's a lot,
02:47but I love him so much.
02:49I love him so much.
02:50Who are you all expecting to join us and be contestants?
02:54I want to see an SFX artist,
02:56because I am not good at that.
03:00Hello, my name is Matt.
03:02Oh my God!
03:04And I didn't come here to blend in.
03:07I'm Matt Perkins, I'm 25 years old,
03:09I'm from Leesburg, Virginia,
03:10and I've been doing makeup for about three to four years.
03:13You are sickening, Matt.
03:14I was not ready.
03:16I sort of fell into makeup
03:17through my love of cosplay
03:18and wanting to transform myself
03:20into characters from video games.
03:22Wow.
03:23Ryan, is this what you were asking for?
03:24Yeah!
03:26I never actually purchased an eyeshadow palette
03:28until a year into makeup,
03:29because I thought everything was just grease paint related,
03:31and I set my entire body and face with baby powder.
03:35I was like, oh shit.
03:38So I really started from nowhere.
03:40I messed up a lot at the beginning.
03:42I still use baby powder.
03:45You guys are all colorful,
03:46and I'm like not colorful.
03:48No, but you're much more, honey, like for real.
03:51The part of makeup I probably struggle with the most
03:53is simple beauty makeup.
03:54I am a transformation artist.
03:56I go big or go home.
03:57I paint myself as a painting.
03:59I don't know all the science
04:00behind the beauty techniques there are.
04:02So who's bringing the competition, children?
04:04I'm all about having fun,
04:05but winning to me is the most fun.
04:09I'm a very competitive person.
04:10I'm here to win $25,000
04:12because I need to move out of my parents' basement.
04:15Oh my God.
04:18Why it's me, Jordan Ridgegerry.
04:20Hi.
04:21I'm Jordan Ridgegerry.
04:22I'm 26 years old,
04:23and I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah,
04:25and I'm a professional makeup artist.
04:26Who is she?
04:28I would describe my makeup style
04:29as very regal and very snatched.
04:31I also really love drag and glam makeup.
04:33I enjoy transforming people to look like Instagram,
04:37but in a realistic way.
04:38Yes.
04:39I love the heart.
04:41Just, you know, brokenhearted,
04:43a little sad, a little modest, it's fine.
04:46Even though I have a severe case of RBF,
04:48a.k.a. resting bitch face,
04:50I definitely want the world to know
04:51that I'm a very kindhearted person,
04:52and I want to showcase who I am to the world.
04:55Because I've been waiting for an opportunity like this
04:56for my entire makeup career,
04:58and I want to prove what I can do
05:00and get some coins while I'm at it.
05:01What is everyone's favorite thing about makeup?
05:04I love the transformation aspect of it.
05:06I think it's so cool.
05:07Just looking in the mirror, I'm like,
05:08who dat?
05:11My name's Jamon,
05:12and the king of makeup has officially
05:14entered the building.
05:16Hey, Jamon!
05:17Hi, my name's Jamon.
05:18I'm 27 years old.
05:20Oh, actually, I'm 28 years old.
05:22I'm from Seattle, Washington, the rainy city,
05:25and I've been doing makeup for about four years.
05:28Oh my gosh, that's gorgeous.
05:30Makeup is not just here
05:32to make you more appealing to everyone else.
05:36Makeup is here to make you feel good about yourself.
05:40Is that a cherry blossom tree?
05:41Yes, it is.
05:42Is the tree trunk three-dimensional?
05:44Yeah, I made it out of hot glue.
05:46Did you do it off of your face and then put it on?
05:49Oh my God, yes, yes.
05:52I 1,000% have an addiction to makeup.
05:56I spent 5,000-something dollars in one year.
06:00Like, do I even have $5,000?
06:03Probably not.
06:04I'm wondering, did everyone bring their A-game,
06:06or is anybody holding back?
06:08Because I personally gave you guys about 40% today.
06:11Okay, 40%.
06:13I definitely didn't want to come in here giving everything.
06:16I'm sure you guys feel the same way.
06:18You want to kind of give a face.
06:21I feel like this is the first impression.
06:23Like, I was not playing games.
06:25Like, Raven, she's getting the works.
06:27I have hot glue on my face.
06:28You know, we're here to win $25,000.
06:32Like, where's the $25,000 look?
06:36Hello, hi everybody.
06:38It's me, Bryce Ryder.
06:41My two favorite passions are makeup and winning.
06:43Ding!
06:44Okay.
06:45My name is Bryce Ryder.
06:47I'm 29 years old.
06:48I'm from San Francisco, California,
06:50and I'm a bearded queen.
06:52We love a close-up.
06:53Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun.
06:54If I had to describe my makeup in three words,
06:57it would be a fierce fashion clown.
07:00When I do a look, I kind of want people
07:02to, like, have to do a couple takes
07:04to kind of, like, figure out
07:05what's actually going on on my face.
07:07Something that somebody, like, looks at
07:08and is like, what?
07:10I feel underdressed.
07:11Are those appliques?
07:13Yeah, I, like, had too much time
07:14and I feel like I look like gay Santa now.
07:18I consider myself a self-taught artist.
07:20I never kind of had any formal training.
07:22It's just something that I've kind of
07:24developed over the years.
07:25I literally never thought that I was going to be
07:28competing for $25,000 sitting in my room
07:31with a bunch of shit glued onto my face,
07:33but watch out, y'all.
07:34I'm gonna paint all y'all out of this competition.
07:37Oh my God, I'm so nervous to meet Raven.
07:39Seriously, me too, me too.
07:41Starting in three, two, one.
07:45Hello, everyone.
07:46It's Raven Hunty.
07:48Ah!
07:49Hey!
07:50Oh, hey!
07:50Hey!
07:51This is so surreal.
07:53Yeah, let's take a moment and just...
07:56Okay.
08:00You are here to compete
08:02in the very first at-home competition.
08:04Everyone was asked to come
08:06in their signature look.
08:07Give yourselves a round of applause.
08:10You're fierce artists,
08:11but you beat out thousands of people to be here.
08:14Woo!
08:16Now, makeup is one of my passions.
08:18It's what got me where I am today.
08:19Now, I really wanted to do this show
08:21so that we could showcase the amazing artistry
08:25across the country,
08:26but also show how much fun makeup is.
08:28I think no better way to do that
08:29than give away $25,000.
08:32Oh, wow.
08:34Oh, yes.
08:35You got money.
08:37Here are the rules to paint your way to victory.
08:40Each week, you'll be competing in a main challenge.
08:43If you're in the top, you get three points.
08:45Yes.
08:45If you're safe, you get two points.
08:47And if you're in the bottom, you get one point.
08:50Each week, the bottom artists will compete
08:52in a two-minute quick paint challenge.
08:55If you lose the quick paint challenge,
08:56you will be muted for one week.
08:58That means you cannot compete or earn points.
09:02But the good news is,
09:03you will rejoin the competition the following week.
09:06In the end, the two artists with the highest scores
09:09will compete in the grand finale challenge.
09:12But be prepared.
09:13There are some twists and turns along the way.
09:16Of course there are.
09:18Damn da rules.
09:21Are you ready to get your brushes dirty?
09:22Yes.
09:24You've each been sent a painted challenge box.
09:27Oh, my goodness.
09:29All the jewels, all the glitters.
09:33For this week's main challenge,
09:34the theme is all that sparkles.
09:37Ooh.
09:38Yes.
09:40You will be judged on your concept, technique, and impact.
09:43Oh, and no pressure, but our premier guest judge.
09:48Oh, God.
09:50Is RuPaul.
09:51Holy shit.
09:54Oh, my God.
09:55I'm just dying.
09:56The chills.
09:56Do you see the chills?
09:57All right, artists.
09:58Game on, faces off.
10:00Your painted challenge starts now.
10:05I am freaking out.
10:07Gluing stuff on my face?
10:08Yes, please.
10:09Let's get into it.
10:10What do you guys think about this whole muting thing?
10:12Probably gonna be pretty painful.
10:14It's definitely better than being eliminated, though.
10:16Exactly.
10:17I do like that.
10:18It's also one of those,
10:19if you don't lose,
10:20then you don't have to ever worry about being muted, too.
10:23Okay.
10:24Just do good.
10:25Yeah.
10:26Simple as that.
10:28Woo.
10:29You're so cute.
10:30Look at you, Ryan.
10:31Oh, my God.
10:32Everybody's gorgeous.
10:33I had a feeling that Jermon would be very handsome.
10:36Oh, thank you.
10:37I would make up, so.
10:38Hello.
10:39Hello.
10:40Oh, my God.
10:41You have a beard.
10:41The transformation of it all.
10:43Yeah.
10:43Oh, yeah.
10:46Bryce took off their makeup,
10:47and I just was not ready.
10:50Wow.
10:51I'm just saying, Bryce,
10:51we could trade numbers after this.
10:55I've never done my whole face in rhinestones
10:58or something,
10:58so I'm nervous for the adhesive.
11:00There's a lot of expectations that I'm putting on myself
11:03because I want to show what I have,
11:06that I'm sickening.
11:07I'm not just a drag queen.
11:08I can come up with a creative idea,
11:10have the impact to leave the judges astonished.
11:14Are you guys panicking?
11:15I'm panicking.
11:15Yeah.
11:16The pressure is definitely on.
11:23So I'm starting to think of all the things
11:25that I could possibly do.
11:26Definitely want to create something
11:27that's more futuristic.
11:29I'm obsessed with everything alien right now,
11:31so I'm thinking maybe I'll do something
11:33with crazy lines and swirls.
11:36This is my shit.
11:38I fucking love glitter.
11:40I love shimmer.
11:41I love being able to glow for the gods.
11:43This is gonna be my challenge.
11:45So can I get a little shady real quick?
11:48You better.
11:49I'm wondering who everyone thinks their competition is.
11:55Oh, you're gonna make it personal.
11:57Oh, okay.
11:58Let the shade begin.
12:00Ooh.
12:02I don't think Taj was shady asking this question.
12:04Honestly, it was something we were all thinking.
12:07Just from today, I feel like Bryce and Matt
12:09are my biggest competition.
12:12Honestly, though, I think that's so real, though.
12:14Definitely.
12:15Right.
12:16Ding.
12:18Ah, I think everybody's saying me.
12:21It makes me feel so much pressure to maintain this,
12:24so I hope I can keep up this charade
12:25and this fantasy for everybody.
12:27So Matt and Bryce, who do you all think
12:30is your biggest competition?
12:32I thought Matt, just because I feel like
12:33you have a very club kid, was the aesthetic of it all.
12:37Yvonne and Bryce, I would say.
12:40I asked everyone who their competition was.
12:43No one said my name.
12:45So I'm like, okay.
12:49Fuck my makeup.
12:51Taj, you're asking all the questions, honey,
12:53but I don't hear you answering them.
12:56I see, based on personality, Yvonne and Ryan.
13:00Personality?
13:01I mean, we all have the talent.
13:03Ooh.
13:04Ooh.
13:06The drama.
13:07The drama.
13:09Honestly.
13:15Hey, artists.
13:17Hello.
13:17Hello.
13:18Just popping in to see your progress.
13:22Let's start with Bryce.
13:24Hi, Raven.
13:25How are you?
13:26What's going on down here?
13:27Right now, you look like a Smurf.
13:29Ms. Smurfette, she could never.
13:31So basically, you blew yourself.
13:34Very that.
13:35I need to show Raven that this is more than
13:37just a Smurfette cosplay fantasy, so I am nervous.
13:41I don't really have time to change course,
13:44so I gotta work it out, blue face and all.
13:46How long have you been playing with makeup?
13:48Probably like seven years.
13:50I started more as like club kid,
13:52so I would just kind of paint my face different colors,
13:54and I remember when I started, I was like,
13:55I'm gonna do eyeliner, that's gonna be my thing.
13:58So eyeliner was your gateway product.
14:01Eyeliner, and now we're here.
14:04Most of us start like that,
14:05where I'm just gonna do a little bit.
14:07Just a wing.
14:07A little bit more.
14:08Oh, well, why not just go all the way?
14:10Yes.
14:11But I can't wait to see the stone,
14:13because remember, sparkle, sparkle, sparkle, sparkle.
14:16You get back to work.
14:17Thank you.
14:18Hi, Matt.
14:19Hi.
14:20Now, what are you nervous about?
14:23Honestly, I'm most nervous about my skin right now.
14:28Why?
14:29I have a really bad breakout all over my face,
14:31and I'm actually, almost my entire body's covered
14:34in like red dots.
14:35Oh.
14:36I'm really nervous on how this is gonna
14:39affect my competition.
14:40Like, I came here to compete.
14:42I didn't come here to go home with a doctor's note.
14:45My makeup application might get flaked off.
14:48That would be nerve-wracking.
14:51I want my skin to look like I've been infested,
14:53kind of like my hives,
14:55but I've been infested with a geode rock.
14:57Well, good.
14:58I'm excited to see what this all looks like.
15:00Thank you.
15:01Okay, Ryan.
15:02Hello, Raven.
15:03You are looking snatched.
15:06Why, thank you.
15:08So I had heard that makeup is a savior for you.
15:13Yes.
15:14What does that mean?
15:15When I was 18 years old, my mother passed away.
15:19I am sorry.
15:20It was very, very, it was way too soon for me, obviously.
15:26Hold on a second.
15:28I'm sorry.
15:30Me and my mother were extremely close.
15:32She was in the Navy and there was asbestos on the ship
15:35and she needed a lung transplant
15:37and she didn't get that in time.
15:39I bought a ticket to go out and see her for her birthday
15:43and she died while I was on the plane.
15:45I wasn't ready.
15:47It crushed me.
15:48I was getting drunk every day,
15:51not really having a purpose.
15:53I kind of lost sight of who I was
15:55and when I finally found makeup, it saved me.
15:59Like, look where the fuck I am right now.
16:02Look what you're doing.
16:03Look what you're doing.
16:04Like, look where I am.
16:07Well, I am happy you're here.
16:09Thank you.
16:10Taj.
16:11Hi.
16:12Hi.
16:13It just hit me that I'm talking to Raven.
16:14Sorry, I'm a little nervous.
16:15Not that there's any pressure, but there's pressure.
16:18Oh, there for sure is.
16:19And I'm a little irritated.
16:21Not being, what's that to be different is,
16:24no one so far has sees me as their top competition.
16:28Right now, I'm the underdog
16:30and I really have a fire under my bottom right now.
16:34Ooh.
16:36There's a fire lit under this ass.
16:37Ooh, my favorite.
16:39Yeah.
16:40Taj thinks that he's the underdog.
16:43I was a little bit shook by that
16:45because if you wanted people to see you as competition,
16:48then you should have brought 1,000% of what you had.
16:52And I personally feel like Bryce and Matt did that
16:55and that's why their name was brought up so many times.
16:59Well, I say, if you're gonna go for it, go for it.
17:01And remember, you are painting for a chance to win $25,000
17:07and someone will be muted tonight.
17:11Okay, I'm gonna pop off.
17:12Bye, Raven.
17:13Bye.
17:14Bye.
17:17Ooh.
17:23I'm upset.
17:25I entered this competition feeling confident
17:27and no one said that I was their competition.
17:31One of my insecurities is not feeling respected
17:36by the other competitors.
17:38Feeling a little defeated right now, a little bit.
17:41I'm pissed.
17:41I'm a little sad.
17:43Okay, I gotta start gluing shit to my face.
17:45I know, that's my thing.
17:46I'm spending too much time.
17:48I think it's really important to do well
17:50in this first challenge because I gotta bring my A game.
17:53I wanna show everyone who they're dealing with.
17:55I didn't even set an alarm.
17:58An hour and 15.
17:59What?
18:00One hour?
18:02Oh, okay.
18:04Ah!
18:05I'm a very competitive person.
18:06I'm one of those people that also like,
18:08I won't tell you I'm competitive,
18:09so shh, don't tell anybody.
18:11That's how competitive I am.
18:12Take a shot every time I said competitive.
18:16Oh my gosh.
18:17Oh my gosh, let me hurry up.
18:18I'm not even close to being done.
18:20I don't even have a fucking diamond on this right now.
18:22I don't either.
18:23I really am stressed.
18:24I'm like, now I'm really beating my face.
18:26Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.
18:29Okay, okay, okay, okay.
18:30Speed run, speed run, speed run.
18:32Ah!
18:33Stop being.
18:35So when are we gonna get to see the artists?
18:37Right after I ask you a very few probing questions.
18:40Oh, I thought you'd never get to the probing.
18:44Helping me judge for this week
18:45is the most famous drag queen in the world, RuPaul.
18:52Am I really?
18:53So thank you for being here.
18:55I wouldn't miss it.
18:56I love makeup and nobody does makeup better than you.
19:00Well, thank you.
19:01So what kind of advice do you have for someone like me
19:04branching out into the hosting gig?
19:07Listen, you're a natural.
19:08I think that's why you're still around
19:10after all these years.
19:11When?
19:12After all these years.
19:13Well, no, because my point is
19:15we've had a lot of girls come through our show
19:17and everybody remembers a Raven.
19:20And if you didn't, you will.
19:21Oh.
19:23We have artists from Portland, Brooklyn, Utah.
19:27For people who don't know, Raven grew up Mormon.
19:30Are you still a practicing Mormon?
19:31I do get on my knees.
19:35And I'm usually saying, oh God.
19:41Oh God.
19:42Oh my God, that's awful.
19:44Beside your face,
19:45what other body part do you like to contour?
19:48My breast.
19:49You know, I am a man.
19:51I don't have any implants.
19:53And so with the help of a pushup bra and some highlighter,
19:57we've been able to emulate two Tigo bitties.
20:03Please keep that in.
20:06You heard it.
20:08All right, Rue,
20:09tonight's main challenge is All That Sparkle.
20:12Are you ready?
20:13I'm not ready yet.
20:16She's ready.
20:17Now I'm ready.
20:18It's face time.
20:20First up, Bryce.
20:22Oh my gosh.
20:24It kind of almost looks like a butterfly.
20:26I love that you kept his facial hair too.
20:27He's a bearded artist.
20:29Uh-huh.
20:29The challenge is All That Sparkles,
20:31and bitch, I am sparkling, rhinestoning, and shiny.
20:35I'm giving you an aquatic, alien-esque vibe
20:38that is rhinestone for the gods,
20:40and I'm feeling like a diamond, not in the rough.
20:43All right, thank you, Bryce.
20:45Next up is Jordan.
20:47Oh, a highlight down under the eye.
20:50It almost looks like light.
20:51Yeah.
20:52My look was inspired by shine bright like a diamond,
20:54and so I wanted to create a galaxy on my forehead
20:56because I got a lot of real estate.
20:58This look is gonna make Raven and RuPaul gag.
21:01Thank you, Jordan.
21:02Next up, Matt.
21:08Gorgeous.
21:09Look how beautiful that is.
21:09Oh my gosh.
21:10Oh my gosh.
21:11Oh my gosh.
21:12Oh my gosh.
21:13Oh my gosh.
21:14Oh my gosh.
21:14Oh my gosh.
21:15Gorgeous.
21:16Look how beautiful.
21:17Gorgeous.
21:18My look is wrapped in geodes and rocks,
21:21and my face is covered in rhinestones,
21:22and I have this beautiful ombre lip, ombre brow,
21:26and this beautiful cut crease,
21:27all embellished with a little bit of yellow glitter.
21:30I think my look might outshine the rest.
21:32All right, thank you, Matt.
21:34Next we have Ryan.
21:39Ooh.
21:40Looks like the markings of a fish on the eyes.
21:44I love that brow.
21:46I am giving you editorial alien realness
21:49with my look today.
21:50I have a little peek-a-boo lip, a little highlight,
21:53and I'm just serving.
21:54They're not ready for you, girl.
21:56Peek-a-boo who?
21:57Stunning.
21:58Thank you, Ryan.
21:59Next up, Taj.
22:05Oh, hey, Taj.
22:05Oh, Taj.
22:07Now that does look like from that movie, 300.
22:10300.
22:11Yes.
22:11Looks like Xerxes.
22:12Yes.
22:13Yes.
22:15Leaping is looking so good in this light.
22:18I used glitter everywhere.
22:20I used rhinestones all over my eyes.
22:25They said they wanted bright.
22:27Well, bitch, I am shining bright.
22:30All right, thank you, Taj.
22:32Next up, Jamon.
22:37Oh, wow.
22:38Oh, my gosh.
22:39Those lips don't look overdrawn.
22:41They look real.
22:42They look beautiful.
22:43I feel gorgeous.
22:44I feel like I sparkle.
22:46Rhinestones on my eye shadow.
22:48Contoured rhinestone.
22:50Rhinestones on my forehead.
22:52I'm giving you a sparkle buffet.
22:54Gorgeous.
22:55Thank you, Jamon.
22:56And finally, we have Yvonne.
23:02Wow.
23:03My goodness.
23:04She looks like she put a mask on her face.
23:06That is stunning.
23:07So today I am giving you intergalactic space pussy, honey,
23:11on a platter with glitter and jewels
23:14encrusted into all these fine little swirly details,
23:18making this mug look gorgeous.
23:20I'm coming from the not-so-distant future
23:22to tell you that this is the winning look.
23:24Wow. All right.
23:25Thank you, Yvonne.
23:26Thanks, Yvonne.
23:27Hi, artists.
23:29Oh, my god.
23:30Hi.
23:31I want to welcome our extra special guest, Judge RuPaul.
23:35Yay!
23:36Oh, my god.
23:37Hi, Ru.
23:38Hi, guys.
23:39You should be very proud of yourselves.
23:41Oh, my god.
23:41This is real life.
23:43All right, so we are going to get to the judges' tips
23:45and just the tips.
23:48First up, Bryce.
23:50You put all this highlight and contour,
23:51and then you covered it all up with those stones,
23:53but you can still see the highlight and contour.
23:56I love what you've done, Bryce.
23:58You were very smart to choose the Aurora Borealis stones,
24:01because it pops so brightly.
24:04And of course, the challenge is all that sparkles.
24:07You just look beautiful.
24:08I love it.
24:09I can't stop looking at you, partly
24:10because of the sparkle.
24:11And because he painted himself blue.
24:16All right, next up is J'mon.
24:19How many sets of lashes do you have on that one eye?
24:22Six.
24:22Jeez.
24:23Wow.
24:24Good on you for that many lashes.
24:26It really does sort of stamps what you've
24:28done as uniquely you.
24:31And it looks gorgeous.
24:33Then the way you've contoured the other side of your face
24:35with the stones.
24:36Beautiful.
24:37Well, I love the tone of this.
24:39I love the gold tone with your skin color.
24:43It is so delicious.
24:44Thank you.
24:46Next up is Jordan.
24:47It looks almost like the Northern Lights.
24:50You actually painted on a couple of rhinestones.
24:53They created the facets of a stone.
24:55Yes.
24:56And how many of those did you do?
24:57I only did two.
24:58I wanted to do more, but I felt like I just
24:59wanted to kind of focus on the overall, as opposed
25:02to minor little details like that.
25:04Well, I love the tone of it.
25:06And it does sparkle.
25:08Although, I could have seen the same effect with more stones.
25:12Next up, we have Max.
25:14Hi.
25:15Now, you have a skin condition right now.
25:18Yes.
25:19There was just two little red dots on my face.
25:22And then over time, it started to creep
25:24kind of all over my body.
25:26So I wanted the idea of, like, taking over my body.
25:28And then I would eventually become completely covered.
25:31And then through pressure, I would become the diamond.
25:34Or the sparkle.
25:35The sparkle.
25:36Sparkle.
25:37Sparkle.
25:38And I love the fact that you turned something
25:40that wasn't so happy into something
25:43that is absolutely gorgeous.
25:45That is what life is about, kids.
25:48Also, I can tell what a skilled makeup artist you are
25:51by the blending you've done.
25:53It's absolutely gorgeous.
25:54Next up, we have Taj.
25:57You look like Xerxe from 300.
25:59It's kind of uncanny.
26:00And I think you are one of the only people who use gold leaf.
26:04I wanted some texture for the shine
26:05and it to move around in the light.
26:07I love the gold leaf.
26:08The fact that you have this sort of three-dimensional look
26:12to this challenge is brilliant.
26:14It is full coverage.
26:16I love a full coverage foundation.
26:18I love a full coverage anything.
26:20And a full coverage bra.
26:21I'm always painting for the back row.
26:24All right, next up, Ryan.
26:27The thing that you created up here
26:29almost looks like you've got horns
26:31about to jet out of your head.
26:33The way you contour and then put the stones around it,
26:35it's almost three-dimensional.
26:36Then the brows look almost feathered.
26:38And then the gold right in through here, stunning.
26:42Now, I do wish there were just a few more stones.
26:4620 more on each eye.
26:47Or 20,000.
26:4820,000.
26:49I went with the concept that less is more.
26:52I just wanted to look like I was on the cover of Vogue
26:54or something.
26:55I know you're doing a less is more look.
26:57I always want to see more.
26:59But it is gorgeous.
27:00You look like Janet Jackson right here.
27:02Oh.
27:02OK, yeah.
27:03I see it.
27:05And last but not least is the beautifully Vaughn.
27:08Oh, my god.
27:09I am just like in another world right now.
27:11You look like you're wearing almost like a kabuki mask.
27:15Yeah, the red and white, I guess.
27:17I love this look.
27:18It is so different from everyone else.
27:20Like, it's been etched or uncut glass,
27:23which is really interesting.
27:24And it really is a work of art.
27:26I would love to have seen more stones.
27:28But I applaud the craftsmanship.
27:31Yeah, everyone is very, very skilled.
27:33So this is not going to be easy.
27:35No, it's not going to be easy.
27:36No.
27:37At all.
27:38All right, artists, as you pop off to the chat room,
27:41Ru and I will pop off on each of you.
27:42Ha ha ha ha ha.
27:45Bye.
27:45Oh.
27:46Oh.
27:47Ah!
27:48That just happened.
27:49Ah!
27:49Ah!
27:50Good.
27:51I am so goofed.
27:52Like, I literally just mugged for RuPaul.
27:56Call the ambulance now because my heart is palpitating.
27:59RuPaul!
28:01I'm about to cry over here.
28:02Those critiques were all so positive.
28:05I have no idea what is going to happen.
28:07Should we say who we think is going to be,
28:09like, top three or top two?
28:13Matt.
28:14Matt.
28:15I think you killed it.
28:16I'm going to win this season.
28:17But you can win this.
28:19Can you come closer, Matt, though?
28:21Because I want to see this fucking geode that you smashed.
28:23Jesus Christ.
28:24So good.
28:25So cool.
28:25Looks fucking fantastic.
28:29Hate you.
28:31I would say my top three, just, like, looking at everyone.
28:34Bryce, Matt, and Yvonne did incredible.
28:37The line work is so sharp.
28:38Don't make me fucking cry this off right now.
28:41Please?
28:41You did incredible.
28:42Yeah, it looks beautiful.
28:45Taj, are you all right?
28:47Yep.
28:49OK, you seem a little low energy.
28:52I'm a little in my feelings.
28:53So yeah, the anticipation.
28:55They have so many positive things to say about you,
28:57though.
28:58No, I know.
28:58I think I'm more focused on your opinions, which really
29:02shouldn't matter anyways.
29:03But, you know, they do.
29:06I'm not mad for what my competitors said about me.
29:09I'm mad about what they didn't say to me.
29:12When people say to other people such good things
29:16and that vibe and that energy, and you don't get
29:19that reciprocated to you.
29:21I want, like, to be respected by my peers.
29:23You look fierce.
29:24You look like a tasty wank of arm.
29:29It doesn't feel good to have it feel like it's performative
29:32or like, oh, well, yeah, you're, like, making us good, too.
29:36You know, like a pity compliment.
29:38I'm not here to impress them.
29:39I don't even get that through my head.
29:41I'm here to impress Raven and the judges.
29:44I think that Taj is in his head right now.
29:47These are amazing artists.
29:49And I think the pressure is just getting to him a little bit.
29:52I'm kind of worried, though, about the critiques
29:55where we should have added more rhymes now.
29:58Yes.
29:59Yours are hard to see from far away.
30:01But when you get close, you can see them all.
30:02And it's like, whoa.
30:04I know.
30:05I'm realizing the error of my ways.
30:07And it's really killing me right now
30:09because it's something that if I would have just spent
30:11a little more time thinking about how it was being received.
30:15Like, the fact that I went with, like, red and white
30:17is probably not really, like, the first thing that comes
30:19to mind when you think of glitter.
30:20And I realize, like, you couldn't even see the crystals
30:22that I put on my face.
30:24Such a bummer.
30:25I'm worried about being in the bottom.
30:26I'm going to be honest.
30:28This is too much deliberation for me.
30:30I'm like, please, let's just find out.
30:32I can't wait any longer.
30:41All right, this is not going to be easy because they're
30:43all very talented artists.
30:45So what is your overall impression
30:47as far as the challenge itself?
30:49Well, first of all, they all filled
30:51the challenge beautifully.
30:52They're all very skilled.
30:53They're all very talented.
30:54But, you know, I'm going to go for the people
30:58who used the most stones.
30:59And some of them used a lot of stones.
31:02Yes, let's start with Bryce, who did use a lot of stones.
31:04Listen, when you use an Aurora Borealis stone,
31:07it's going to catch the light.
31:08Boy, did it ever pop.
31:11Anyone could have just put all those stones on a blue face.
31:13But to actually take the time to contour and highlight
31:16everything beautifully so that the stone was part of a whole.
31:20Yes.
31:21Art is meant to inspire.
31:22Art is meant to engage.
31:24And I am totally engaged in this.
31:26All right, let's move on to J'mon.
31:28I see the black eye, which I love the asymmetry of that.
31:33I love that gold stone on that skin.
31:36It is delicious.
31:37I love the concept of it.
31:39But it could have been more defined.
31:41I just love that he went for it with rhinestones.
31:45Said, I'm going to use these rhinestones,
31:46and I'm going to use a bunch of them.
31:48I love that.
31:49All right, moving on to Jordan.
31:50I love the concept.
31:51In another challenge, this would be at the top of my list.
31:56It's just that Jordan chose to paint the sparkle
32:00rather than use the sparkle.
32:02Yeah, it was beautiful to look at.
32:03But you were given a box of rhinestones.
32:05Where are the rhinestones?
32:07Next up, Matt.
32:09Well, talk about three dimensional.
32:11And talk about turning something that is a not so nice thing
32:15into a plus.
32:16I mean, the fact that he did that asymmetrical stones
32:20coming to overtake his face, that's brilliant.
32:22Beautiful use of color, the blend,
32:26creating all of those different dimensions on the face,
32:29and then the huge, beautiful, sparkly purple stones all over.
32:32The concept, amazing.
32:34Yeah.
32:35All right, let's move on to Ryan.
32:36Ryan has got such a beautiful face.
32:38This is a face for makeup.
32:41I think she did a great job here.
32:43It's just that when you've got that kind of real estate,
32:46you want to utilize every square inch of it.
32:50It looks like the emphasis here is on the blue eyes.
32:53And they're beautiful.
32:54And they're snatched.
32:55And they are snatched.
32:56She painted that.
32:57I would love to have seen more stone work.
33:00So the concept and the impact are a little lacking,
33:03but her technique is amazing.
33:04Absolutely.
33:05All right, so moving on to Taj.
33:06Oh my goodness, Taj.
33:08That technique, the beauty, the blending
33:11of all of those colors around the eye.
33:12Concept, technique, impact.
33:15All three are there.
33:16Rhinestones, glitter, gold leaf, color, shape, design.
33:21It's all there. Love it.
33:22Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle.
33:23Yeah.
33:24And last up, we have Yvonne.
33:25Really a great concept.
33:27And it's really well done.
33:29I love that huge rhinestone she has on her forehead.
33:32And I love the focal point.
33:34I love the fact that, I actually love the fact
33:36that she only uses two colors here.
33:37The only thing I wish is there were more rhinestones.
33:40You don't notice the sparkle first.
33:42No.
33:43And that's what I would have loved to have noticed first.
33:45But the design is beautiful.
33:47All right.
33:48I think we're ready for our artists to pop back in.
33:50Pop them back.
33:52Welcome back, artists.
33:54Hi.
33:54Hi.
33:55Hi.
33:56You've all made this very hard,
33:58but this is a competition
33:59and it is time to reveal your scores.
34:06Matt,
34:08Taj,
34:11Bryce.
34:12Congratulations.
34:13You are the tops of the week.
34:16And you have each earned three points
34:18toward your total score.
34:20I told them, I told them.
34:22Now that other competitors know what I can do,
34:25they better expect me to show up every single week
34:28because I am competition.
34:29Thank you so much.
34:31Thank you.
34:31Thank you.
34:32Thank you so much.
34:34Jermon
34:37and Yvonne.
34:38You are both safe.
34:42You will get two points added to your score.
34:46Thank you.
34:47Which unfortunately means that Jordan and Ryan,
34:52you are the bottoms of the week.
34:56You will get one point toward your total score,
34:59but it also means that you must compete
35:01in the quick paint challenge.
35:03To determine who will be the bottom of the week,
35:05you must compete in the quick paint challenge.
35:07To determine who will be muted next week.
35:11I might've died a little inside
35:13because being in the bottom two
35:16on the first week of the competition
35:18is not how I saw this playing out at all.
35:21Now using the face sheets provided,
35:23you will have two minutes to complete a makeup task.
35:25The winner will move forward
35:27and the loser will be muted for next week.
35:30Artists, get your face sheets ready.
35:33Two minutes on the clock, please.
35:36Your task for this quick paint challenge
35:38is the perfect smoky eye.
35:42And go.
35:45Bitch, you got this.
35:46You do smoky eyes all day long.
35:48But the only thing is we have to do it on the paper.
35:52And I hate that paper.
35:57It will not be known as the first person to be muted.
36:00That's just not happening.
36:01Like point blank period, end of discussion.
36:0330 seconds.
36:05I'm gonna do what I need to do to stay in this competition.
36:0810 seconds.
36:12Five, four, three, two, one.
36:18Brushes down.
36:21All right, Jordan and Ryan,
36:23please show us your smoky eye.
36:25Fuck.
36:33I see that Jordan did both eyes.
36:37Fuck.
36:39Okay, well my blend is cute, so maybe that'll save me.
36:44Seeing Ryan and mine in comparison to each other,
36:47my heart drops and I am so unsure what's gonna happen.
36:51All right, based on tonight's quick paint,
36:56I am sorry.
37:01Ryan, you will be muted for next week.
37:07That means you can still watch,
37:09but you will not be able to compete or earn points.
37:11However, you will rejoin the competition the following week.
37:16I'm lying, bitch.
37:19What?
37:23I'm extremely disappointed in myself
37:24and very embarrassed.
37:27Now artists, before we go,
37:28I have your first homework assignment.
37:30You must create an eye makeup look
37:32inspired by a holiday of your choice.
37:37Come on, Kwanzaa.
37:42This week's closing words of inspiration
37:44come from Dorothy Parker.
37:46Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clean to the bone.
37:52And with that, we'll see you on the next episode
37:54of Painted with Raven.
37:56Bye!
37:57Bye!
37:58Thank you!
