00:00We as medical, dental and pharmacy interns gather here today with one mission
00:07to ensure our posting is effective and that no one is left behind.
00:12We endured more than six years of gruelling medical school,
00:16sacrificing our lives to acquire life-saving knowledge and skills.
00:22Yet the Ministry of Health, under the leadership of Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Akumita,
00:28is jeopardising our future.
00:31We have been at home for two years now, our knowledge is decaying
00:35and we are losing opportunities to advance our lives.
00:39The psychological suffering we endure is immense.
00:42Without a licence we cannot practice medicine.
00:46Many of us are grappling with depression and suicidal ideation.
00:50Due to this injustice, our parents are distraught,
00:54our families are stressed and we are constantly asked,
00:57when will we start our internship?
01:00But we have no answers.
01:02So, we are here to demand those answers.
01:06We have come to occupy the Ministry of Health to declare that we are tired.
01:10We are tired of being taken for granted.
01:13Our future cannot be held hostage.
01:16While we possibly watch, the days of slavery and oppression are over.
01:22We know our rights and it is our right to be posted within 30 days after completing our studies.
01:28We collectively reject victimisation and the deprivation of opportunities that rightly belong to us.
01:35On Saturday, we made a submission to MOH with two ultimatums.
01:40All interns must be posted today with payments as per the CPA 2017
01:47Between MOH and KPDU.
01:50To be made in batches as resources become available.
01:53If this is not done, we will occupy MOH.
01:57And like the healthiers, we don't miss a word.
