00:00This is twice now, the Celtics have been first to the floor, it's unbelievable!
00:09Austin, first to the floor, it's so good!
00:12Brown fakes, fires up the three!
00:14Tatum dives on the floor, everybody dives!
00:17Galen Brown, with the flex! Blocked by Porzingis!
00:21He's doing it all!
00:22Tatum, spinning, driving, left!
00:24Washington drives, blocked by White!
00:27Oh, what a block from Derek White!
00:29Welcome in to another episode of First to the Floor.
00:41I'm Ben Ballast, thank you for joining us.
00:43Hope you're doing well.
00:44I'm here with Jake Eisenberg and Wade Spooney, live from Las Vegas.
00:47Guys, how we doing?
00:48Good.
00:49We're alive.
00:50Barely.
00:51We're alive.
00:52Yeah, man.
00:53I was thinking in my head when I woke up this morning, who won?
00:56Me or Vegas?
00:57Us or Vegas.
00:58Us or Vegas.
00:59And I went to checkout and there was a $440 USD checkout fee,
01:06and I freaked out for a moment.
01:08And then apparently it was not under charge.
01:10There was not two $200 charges at 2 in the morning that I didn't remember.
01:14It was just a troll to be like, no, you've actually paid that much.
01:18I'm like, what?
01:19Why?
01:20Why does it say I can charge my car down here?
01:22So I don't know what that was, but that was the moment where I was like,
01:24oh, that's going to be what tips it back in Vegas' favor.
01:27But no, I think we got the dub against Vegas.
01:30I don't know, man.
01:31It's a tight seven-game series.
01:34I'll say that.
01:35But I do keep waking up with $50 in my pocket from gambling,
01:40which is like a loss from what I put in, but could be worse.
01:44So I'm doing all right in that way.
01:46I am feeling quite just beat down, tired, I guess.
01:54Not like sleep tired.
01:55Just like my body is like, dude, get out of that city now.
01:59Your mom is currently in the chat showing her support.
02:02Hi, mom.
02:03Glad you're alive.
02:04Glad you're alive.
02:05That's Booty's mom.
02:06Yeah.
02:07We had a real meal last night, which is sick, didn't I, Fung?
02:09We did.
02:10And it was awesome.
02:11It was so good.
02:12We went to town.
02:13And yeah, we came back up here, put the leftovers in the fridge,
02:16came back to get them after we gambled.
02:18And for whatever reason, I put mine in the section of the fridge
02:21that wasn't cold somehow.
02:22Why is there a section of the fridge that isn't cold?
02:24I have no idea why it exists.
02:26It's a fridge.
02:27So that was annoying.
02:28I feel like we're winning.
02:30We basically kidnapped Dan Greenberg in a way that he actually drove us
02:34back here to my hotel and got him to do a live podcast,
02:38which we were excited to meet the guy.
02:40Fast forward moments later, and he's in our room, my room,
02:43doing a pod for us, which was fantastic.
02:46He was great.
02:47And I don't know.
02:48I feel like we've won.
02:49We've done like four pods now.
02:50This is pod number four.
02:51Pod four.
02:52A lot of basketball.
02:53Straight back to Summer League after we've wrapped up this show.
02:55I feel like we've done quite well.
02:57And although we lost yesterday, I wasn't on yesterday's pod.
02:59I was frothing over Baylor Shimer by the end of that game.
03:02Absolutely.
03:03You guys were saying, and Jackson Moe was saying to me during the game,
03:06it's unlikely that he'll play at all for the Celtics this year.
03:09Like come to me during the game being like, fuck yeah,
03:12this guy's going to be in our eight man rotation.
03:14He's beating Hauser out.
03:16He was good.
03:17It was cool.
03:18It was funny like watching the highlights after being at the game.
03:22Like we just don't get to go to, you know, that many basketball games,
03:25and especially like Celtics games.
03:27And so to be in the stands,
03:28you have like this perspective of how the game went,
03:30and then you go back and watch the highlights.
03:32I'm like, wow, it's such a different viewing experience watching it on
03:36like the broadcast angle as opposed to like we were so –
03:39like where the Cox Pavilion is such a small arena where you're
03:44so close to the court.
03:46It's so awesome.
03:47You can really see and feel everything,
03:50including Brad Stephens' aura from across the court.
03:54Emanating.
03:55Emanating.
03:56Spilling all over the arena, the Cox.
03:58Well, I would say that's another area where Vegas lost is the –
04:03you can't leave the Cox Pavilion if you want to be able to get back in the game.
04:07If you need to go to the bathroom or you want to get a beer or something,
04:10like don't expect to get back in within like 45 minutes basically,
04:14which is the problem.
04:15And Jake showed a great – exhibited great leadership skills yesterday.
04:19Speaking of aura.
04:20Getting straight past the line, just put your head down,
04:22act like you've been there before.
04:24Walk straight into the Cox Pavilion right before the Celtics game.
04:27Brad Stephens, Joe Mazzola would have been impressed.
04:29We're first to the floor.
04:30Straight to the front, Sam.
04:32Last to the arena.
04:33Last to the arena.
04:34First to the floor.
04:36The tough part was they weren't letting people out to pee.
04:38You had to get back in line.
04:39But then that was really an impressive performance where like I did it again
04:44to get back in because I made it through the first three quarters.
04:46I was like, I might die if I don't pee.
04:49And I'm like, but I'm going to miss some of this game.
04:52I'll have to watch it on TV outside of the arena.
04:55But right back in to watch the end of the game, which was fun.
05:00It wasn't a great end of the game, but yeah.
05:04He's made a little run there.
05:05I was probably harsh on Keita.
05:07I think it goes back to like being there in person is just –
05:10you're just less aware of like the stats too.
05:13Because all they have on Cox is points and rebounds and it's numbers.
05:18And it wasn't working half the time.
05:21So I didn't realize Keita was so efficient yesterday.
05:24I do think he had some defensive problems.
05:26But yeah, it really is just a different experience.
05:29And I think – I don't know if I even said it on the pod,
05:31but my takeaway was like it just feels so much more real,
05:35which is a dumb ass thing to say.
05:38But that's like how I feel.
05:39It's like, oh yeah, this is not like really high def 2K.
05:45When I'm watching it on TV, it's like these are real humans
05:48doing all this crazy shit.
05:50When you enter the arena, you walk along the floor
05:52before you go up to the bleachers.
05:54And so you're like on the same level as these players,
05:56except you're totally not because compared to them,
05:58you are subhuman.
06:01That was sick.
06:02And I put something on Instagram.
06:03I was like, am I down a level or like on the ground?
06:07And I'm like, no, dude.
06:08These guys are all giant, man.
06:11Baylor's big, dude.
06:13He's a big boy.
06:14And Keita, the fact – we opened the box score just now
06:16and I was like, well, Keita was 9 for 15.
06:18That I do not remember with nine boards.
06:21So like that's obviously good.
06:23But in person, we were all like, dude, his touch is brutal.
06:26Yeah.
06:27And the defense was not good either.
06:29But no, should we do some league highlights on and off the court?
06:33Let's do it.
06:34Should we draft?
06:35Sure.
06:36Let's do some draft moments.
06:37Yeah.
06:38All right.
06:39Spoonie, you want the first pick?
06:40Yeah.
06:41I think first pick for me, it's tough, right?
06:42Because part of me wants to say like walking into the Cox
06:46right next to the players.
06:48Like I heard like them just like, let's go, Walshie.
06:52Let's go.
06:53Like the boys hyping him up.
06:54Like I almost touched Tony Dobbins accidentally
06:57because he was like sitting in a chair
06:59but like turned around like this.
07:01And I'm just like brushing past his elbow.
07:04And I'm like leaning forward like, oh, no.
07:06And then you look across the court and there's Brad.
07:09And it's like, whoa, next to Hauser.
07:11But I think like strictly basketball, for me, it's Reed Shepard.
07:15Like he was electric, man.
07:17Like that was a really fun game.
07:19That was the most fun crowd game
07:21because it was almost full for the Lakers, Rockets.
07:25And Reed was putting on a show multiple times
07:28where the crowd was just like, ooh, when he would cross somebody up.
07:32And there's like no greater feeling when the entire crowd does that,
07:36especially when he was like burying pull-up threes after it.
07:39So for me, it's Reed basketball-wise.
07:42I think basketball-wise, that's a great first pick off the board.
07:45I'll be going around the back or am I next here?
07:47You're next.
07:48I'm next here.
07:49Mostly because I haven't thought of anything yet.
07:51Well, I think this is great value at number two here,
07:54off the court, hanging out with you guys in person.
07:57Yeah, that's been great.
07:58That's number one for sure.
08:01Jackie Spooner gave me the idea.
08:03Glad you got to spend some special time together.
08:06It really was special time together on the casting couch these last few days.
08:10We went to the Paris Casino just on the way
08:13because Spooner got a couple of chips to cash from that first night.
08:17Somehow.
08:19I was like this is where it all began.
08:21You guys met me right outside Beer Park as we walked into the Paris Casino
08:25and that was the beginning of the last three days.
08:28It's been so good to hang out with you guys
08:30but then also hanging out with all the Boston media people as well.
08:33Hanging out with Jack and Sam and Noah and Bobby.
08:37Both Bobbys.
08:39We got to have a good chat to Bobby Manning in real life yesterday as well.
08:43Getting to hang out with all of the people we've spent time with
08:46on the internet in person.
08:48And then Greeny into that as well.
08:50That in-person interaction with people I've spent hundreds of hours
08:54talking to online has been awesome.
08:57It's been really cool.
08:58It's been awesome.
08:59Hanging out doing these pods live in person.
09:01I think the fact that we've cranked out four in less than that day
09:04shows the eagerness.
09:06We're here.
09:07We've got all the gear.
09:08We're finally in person and we're in this nerdy basketball convention environment.
09:12Let's pod it up.
09:14We haven't even really had to drag each other into those moments.
09:17We've just been willingly doing all of these pods
09:19and so many excuses, hangovers, jet lag, whatever to not do them
09:23and yet we continue to get up and do them.
09:25That's a great second pick.
09:26That's also my third pick.
09:27You kind of bore it into that territory already,
09:30but you said sort of meeting everyone else in the sort of CLNS, Celtics blog,
09:35Celtics Twitter environment, and so I would add to that
09:38just like genuinely feeling a part of that.
09:40Yeah, for sure.
09:41Meeting people that I've watched their shows,
09:43listened to their stuff, read their stuff time and time again,
09:46and we walked up to Bobby Manning yesterday
09:48and he recognized us before we recognized him
09:51and a bunch of other people, same circumstances,
09:53which is always like it's never not amazing
09:55and never not surreal to have just been an Aussie Celtics fan
09:59and suddenly we're here in Las Vegas
10:01and we've got like people recognizing us.
10:03It's hard to go past that.
10:05Yeah, man, freaking Ben Gulliver coming up from the media section
10:09like we're in the VIP and I'm like,
10:12yo, Gulliver, and he's like turning around.
10:14He's like, yeah, I'll meet you at halftime.
10:16It's just like, that's awesome.
10:17We go up there and then he's just shit talking.
10:19I know, Spoonie, you weren't there for this bit.
10:22Sounds like the best five minutes of the trip, frankly.
10:25And him just being like giving me the championship confetti
10:28from game five and then being like,
10:31now please shut the fuck up and stop emailing the show
10:33as much as you do with your Celtics propaganda
10:36and just talking smack.
10:38It was so awesome.
10:39Got a great photo from it.
10:41Yeah, like dapped up Tim Bontemps right before
10:43and he's like the champs are here.
10:45Yeah, walking around all day just being like champs are here.
10:48That was very fun.
10:49High five Nikias Duncan.
10:51The people spotting.
10:53It's so funny how everyone's on the same level of nerdiness.
10:58Like when we're in the VIP section and we were like next
11:00to this Knicks fan and his dad and it's like,
11:03we're talking about, you know, did Daddy A
11:06and like the deepest cuts.
11:08Broke his jacobitis.
11:09I was like, he got drafted a few years ago
11:11and the dude's like, yeah, he starts on Real Madrid.
11:13It's like, what are we talking about?
11:14I'm like, people should know this,
11:15but everyone here knows this stuff.
11:17He gave us the full scouting report.
11:20Yeah, so that's I think you're up now.
11:23So I, since you guys had the Gulliver moment,
11:27I had my own moment with Jared Allen.
11:29I walked up to them and asked him which kind
11:32of graphics card he had.
11:34And he's like 1080 TI, man, you know,
11:38I'm still rolling with that.
11:39And I was like, you got to upgrade bro.
11:42And he's like, I know.
11:43He seemed to actually want to talk to me about it,
11:46because of all of the interactions we had,
11:48that was by far the one where they actually wanted
11:50to talk to you in particular.
11:52We were just watching.
11:53But he legitimately had the biggest smile on his face,
11:55was like laughing about, I don't even know
11:57what you guys are really talking about.
11:58Like, that's not my realm.
11:59But he legitimately was like, his face lit up
12:02to talk about computers.
12:05So that was really well done from you.
12:07But we were there for that.
12:13That was awesome to see though.
12:14That was cool.
12:15Definitely the best like one-to-one NBA player
12:17interaction we've had.
12:18Maybe the only one as well.
12:19Before we get to Jake's extra pick, his next pick,
12:21his fourth pick.
12:22Yeah.
12:23Fifth pick.
12:24Thank you, Matt.
12:25We're going to get to a quick ad read from our friends
12:27over at PrizePix.
12:28That's right.
12:29PrizePix is America's number one daily fantasy sports app
12:31with over 5 million active members.
12:32PrizePix is the easiest and most exciting way
12:34to play daily fantasy sports.
12:35Unlike other apps on PrizePix, it's just you
12:37against the numbers.

12:40stat projections and watch the winnings roll in.
12:42You can now win up to 100 times your money on PrizePix
12:44with as little as four correct picks.
12:46If you're looking for promotions, PrizePix has you

12:49From lowering select players' stat projections on Tuesdays
12:51to help your lineup hit or getting your entry fees back
12:54if you have a losing lineup on Fridays.
12:56Didn't know that.
12:57That's a great little tidbit right there.
12:59With the finals over, the Hoops action doesn't stop
13:00on PrizePix.
13:01Women's basketball's heating up.
13:02Kaitlin Clark, Angel Reed's looking to make names
13:04for themselves.
13:05Brianna Stewart, Aja Wilson, who did a great pub
13:07with Jason Tatum recently.
13:08You can win up to 100 times your cash watching
13:10the ladies ball out.
13:12I would maybe recommend picking less on Jordan Walsh
13:14points against the Lakers tomorrow.
13:16I made my first $10 deposit and reached an instant
13:19$10 bonus.
13:20If you have the skills, you can play for a shot at turning
13:22$10 into $1,000.
13:23Download the PrizePix app today and use code CLNS

13:27That's code CLNS on PrizePix for a first deposit match
13:29up to $100.
13:30Pick more, pick less.
13:31It's that easy.
13:32Amazing.
13:33Jake with the one, two, three, four, five, fifth pick
13:36in the draft.
13:37What do you got?
13:38This is tough.
13:39Yeah, man.
13:40Watching the Celtics.
13:41Yeah.
13:42Watching the Celtics.
13:43Yeah, I know.
13:44Huge deal here.
13:47I really wish I didn't have to pee so bad for the whole
13:49time, but it was still awesome.
13:52Dude, Jaden Stringer just went bonkers in the game.
13:55And just like, man, we're going to be able to say
13:58that we were at Baylor-Shireman Hall of Famer's
14:00first ever summer league game where he went 13-5 like,
14:04oh, yeah, this is Joe Ingalls if Joe Ingalls was
14:06the all-star version.
14:07Yes.
14:08Yeah, that's what I was thinking the whole time.
14:10Yeah.
14:11Especially if you take out the first two misses,
14:15which don't count because it's his first two ever shots,
14:18I don't think that they count.
14:19He ends up being three for five from three and four for
14:23seven from the field.
14:25And five boards.
14:26I love the way he rebounds, man.
14:28He looks to crash the boards and then go and create
14:32scoring opportunities for himself and for the other
14:34guys around him.
14:35I really loved that.
14:36And Anton Watson, that block he had.
14:40Oh, yeah.
14:41It was spicy.
14:42Was that on where?
14:43I think it was on where.
14:44Yeah, he was.
14:45I thought he was good.
14:46I really liked Anton Watson.
14:47Yeah.
14:48Like big connecting wing.
14:49Yeah.
14:50Kind of vibe, which was cool.
14:51Got to shoot it, I think, long-term future-wise.
14:53And did he take a three?
14:54He took one, which I don't remember.
14:55Yeah, me either.
14:56But that's like the big thing for him.
14:58But lots to like out of Watson and Shireman.
15:00Both the rookies looked solid.
15:02You know who I thought looked good despite having
15:04a bad stat line?
15:05Drew Peterson.
15:06I thought that, like, defensively, he held up
15:08in some good spots.
15:09Like, because you always see the stat lines coming
15:12out of main where it's like 10 boards, A to C.
15:14It's like kind of stuffs the stat sheet.
15:16I could see that in his game yesterday, the way that
15:18he was kind of doing a little bit of everything.
15:20But, yeah, he wasn't able to get some shots to go
15:22despite, like.
15:23And what I've learned on Twitter is that field goal
15:25percentage and three-point percentage doesn't matter
15:27at Summer League.
15:28That's right.
15:29It's fake.
15:30Yeah, it's about taking the shots.
15:32The fact that Drew Peterson went over four and Jordan
15:34Peterson was actually good because they were getting
15:36them up.
15:37Yeah, Drew Peterson.
15:38And we were saying, someone in the chat is saying,
15:40Birkin, that Peterson had serious handle issues.
15:42And, like, Jack, Simone and I were talking about
15:44watching the game live yesterday how I was surprised
15:46to see him bringing the ball up so much.
15:48But apparently he does that a lot in main and did
15:50that quite a bit in college as well.
15:52So I guess it was good to see him try and tap into
15:54that, like, supposed skill set in the environment
15:56like Summer League.
15:57But I was also surprised to see him, like, defending
15:59the rim on multiple occasions as well.
16:01Did not know that was part of his game.
16:03I don't expect that to ever be exhibited on an
16:05NBA floor.
16:06Right.
16:07But it was just cool to see, like, his diversity
16:10exhibited a little bit.
16:11But, yeah, Scheinman, man.
16:12Scheinman was diamond guys up.
16:13Yeah.
16:14He was very true to his, like, college stat line.
16:16It was, like, a little bit of scoring, a little bit
16:18of rebounding, a little bit of passing.
16:20Solid on defense.
16:21Can move his feet.
16:22He was absolutely getting cooked by Jaime Jaquez.
16:24But Jaime Jaquez was cooking everybody.
16:26And that kind of segues into my next pick, which is
16:29just, like, seeing NBA caliber players on the court.
16:32Like, guys who have already really established
16:34themselves in the NBA.
16:35So, yes.
16:36Like, specifically, Brandon Miller was going to be my
16:38pick with the number six pick because we had really
16:40great seats and we got to hang around for about a
16:42quarter for that game before we head off to the
16:44Celtics game.
16:45And he was just absolutely dominating the Knicks
16:47and was, like, far and beyond, like, the best
16:49player on the court, like, talent wise, skill wise,
16:52dimension wise.
16:53Dimension wise.
16:54He was dimensionally outstanding.
16:56I was having a dimensions gasp.
16:58I don't know if you guys realized sitting next to
17:00me.
17:01I was freaking out.
17:02I was getting goosebumps.
17:03It was incredible to watch.
17:04They were like, sir, could you please sit down?
17:06I thought Miller, Cam Whitmore really stood out.
17:08He took some of the dumbest shots of all time.
17:10But just, like, how big, how physical and how
17:13talented he is compared to summer league guys was
17:15crazy.
17:16And Jaquez, too, man.
17:17Like, there were times where Jaquez was making
17:19these shots and was like, what are you doing here,
17:21dude?
17:22You're, like, 25.
17:23Like, get off the summer league court, bro.
17:25He played 70 games last season.
17:27And the playoffs.
17:28And the playoffs.
17:29And played, like, 30 minutes a night.
17:31But look, hey, I like seeing them there.
17:33I forget who said this to me yesterday.
17:35It may have been Greeny.
17:36He was like, it's good to see those guys there
17:38because you can then see what the other guys look
17:40like against types of guys like that.
17:42So it's like, okay, Baylor Sharman.
17:44I thought he kind of stayed in front relatively
17:47well.
17:48But then, like, Jaquez was just too strong and
17:50crafty once he kind of got to the spots and got
17:52downhill.
17:53But for his first, you know, assignment, that was
17:56a pretty tough cover.
17:58But, yeah, I think that's a good take from Greeny.
18:00It's, like, it's cool to see how guys can stack
18:03up against the Brandon Millers and, you know,
18:06players like that.
18:07Like, the Knicks we were playing, they had a big
18:11man.
18:12Because the Knicks fans we were talking to were
18:14like, what are you guys going to do about this
18:16whole Mitchell Robinson thing?
18:17They're like, I don't know, man.
18:19Jericho Sims.
18:20Yeah, Jericho Sims.
18:21We were out there.
18:22That was so high on Jericho Sims.
18:25The dad was like, he's a really nice guy.
18:27Yeah, yeah.
18:28He was like, that's not.
18:29Yeah.
18:30Yeah.
18:31Great father.
18:32Yeah.
18:33Yeah.
18:34Yeah.
18:35That's a guy you want to be with in the trenches.
18:37Yeah.
18:38Oh, great pick from Ben.
18:39Go around again.
18:40Yeah.
18:41Go around again.
18:42We run out, I reckon.
18:43And then we'll see him again.
18:44Ten minutes.
18:45Yeah.
18:46So I would say this is really corny and lame.
18:49But, like, the genuine, like, excitement when
18:53Greeny saw us.
18:54Yes.
18:55Yeah.
18:56Like, Greeny was like, the boys!
18:58And, like, daft us up.
18:59And it's like, I didn't know you're all going to be here.
19:01He thought it was just me in town.
19:03Oh, right.
19:04So he was so hyped that the whole crew was here.
19:06And, like, you don't know what to expect because he's
19:08really complimentary and he's really chill.
19:10Even after we record, he'll just be like, dude,
19:12anytime, guys.
19:13I'm happy to come on.
19:14But you don't know how much of that is just, like,
19:16being polite.
19:17But the fact that it was, like, my excitement was
19:20matched with his excitement to see us.
19:22It was like, this fucking rules, man.
19:24This is so awesome.
19:25You want to get in my car and fucking come to our
19:28casting couch and record a pod.
19:30Yeah, man.
19:31That was awesome.
19:32We're all wearing the Celtics merch.
19:34Got a good photo of the boys.
19:36Yeah, man.
19:37And so he was, actually, I can't say, I'm not sure
19:40if I'm allowed to say who he was talking to.
19:42He was talking to somebody.
19:43He was talking to somebody.
19:44Yeah, yeah.
19:45I think we've got to leave it there.
19:47Yeah.
19:48And so that was cool.
19:49We got to be near with Greeny as he was talking to
19:51somebody.
19:52It was like, whoa, we're close to talking to
19:54somebody.
19:55Yeah, right.
19:56Yeah, we're, like, two degrees away from someone
19:58really important.
19:59He was, like, in our seats.
20:00And then he's texting.
20:01He's like, I've got to go meet this guy.
20:03I'm like, oh, man.
20:04Oh, shit.
20:05Bring him back.
20:06Can we come?
20:07Yeah, right.
20:08That was, yeah, that was epic.
20:10Candice Parker.
20:11Oh, yeah.
20:12So, yeah, seeing all the, like, the NBA guys and
20:15celebrities around us was cool.
20:17And I think she was one of the cooler people that I
20:21yelled at a lot of people.
20:22Is this your pick?
20:23It's my pick.
20:24Is Candice Parker.
20:25She's fucking tall.
20:26She's tall.
20:27And I was like, yo, Candice.
20:28And she looked at me and gave me, like, a, I was
20:30like, whoo.
20:31Give you the too small straight away?
20:33Yeah.
20:34That would be unfair.
20:35Come on, man.
20:36But, you know, the fact that she acknowledged me
20:38gave me a little head nod.
20:40I was like, okay.
20:41Yeah.
20:42We made it here, dude.
20:43Yeah, Jake, you have, like, a really gregarious,
20:45outbound, extroverted personality.
20:47So I'm really being impressed with Jake.
20:49Like, going up to all NBA media type personalities,
20:52players, and just, like, daffing everyone up and
20:54everyone being really receptive.
20:56Because, like, me and Spoonie are a little bit more
20:58reserved.
20:59Like, I'll admire you from afar.
21:01Oh, my gosh.
21:02Is that CJ McCollum?
21:04Yeah.
21:05I'm like, what's Tim Bontemps going to do?
21:07Not high five again?
21:08Yeah.
21:09Yeah.
21:10Yeah.
21:11You daffing up Tim Bontemps specifically, I thought,
21:13was really funny.
21:14He was.
21:15He really, like, lead into the daffing.
21:16Yeah.
21:17He gave me a little, like, legit, I didn't expect
21:18a high five, but he came in for a little hug.
21:19Oh, nice.
21:20I was like, okay, Timmy B, let's go, dude.
21:22I'll forgive you for your next Celtics hater take now.
21:25Yeah.
21:26Yeah.
21:27Well, you guys might hate on this pick.
21:28Can I just, can I pick Summer League in general?
21:30Because I think that we were all really surprised at
21:33how much of a, like, a hoops convention it was.
21:35Yeah.
21:36And Greeny was speaking to this yesterday.
21:38You know, like, we've all made trips, our own trips
21:40to the playoffs, like, multiple times.
21:41Spoonie and I were at the finals in 22.
21:43Jake, obviously, you were in that great playoff series
21:45against the Nets earlier that playoff round.
21:47That was it.
21:48But being here for Summer League and just being
21:51in the Cox Pavilion, for example, and the level
21:54of, like, hoops appreciation and hoops nerdiness,
21:56for lack of a better term, that everyone has
21:58to get them to Vegas in this heat to Summer League
22:00to watch and admire, like, lesser talented NBA players.
22:04Everyone's at a much higher level in their game
22:07as a hoops fan.
22:08And so to be completely immersed in that environment,
22:11everyone has at least the same level of appreciation
22:14for the game that you do.
22:15That's really cool.
22:16And you go to the playoffs and you get a lot
22:17of, like, bandwagon fans and stuff like that
22:19who are just there for the event.
22:21Yeah, to, like, hold the hot ticket.
22:23Yeah, they don't know that you're supposed
22:25to go 0 for 8 or something.
22:26Yeah, right.
22:27Yeah, exactly.
22:28And, like, to that point, there was one point,
22:30I can't remember what game it was, but I think
22:32it was when we were in Cox.
22:33Somebody made, like, a good corner kick.
22:36And half the crowd was just like, ooh, good pass.
22:38Ooh, nice connecting pass.
22:40Yeah, yeah.
22:41Yeah, dude, Ben, that's a great call, man.
22:44Like, in Australia, there'll be, you know,
22:46basketball fans.
22:47Like, someone will be like, oh, Celtics.
22:49They'll be wearing Celtics clothes, whatever.
22:51And I'm like, Celtics fan?
22:52They're like, oh, you know, kind of.
22:54And this is, like, the complete opposite.
22:56Yeah, right.
22:57Like, the Knicks fan, when we were talking,
22:59it was awesome, man.
23:00Like, the deep cuts that both teams were talking about.
23:03Like, yeah, we had Johan Begger on.
23:05Like, we thought he might, you know, be someone.
23:07And other people, like, know who that is.
23:09It's so embarrassing.
23:10But it's not in this environment.
23:13You're cool.
23:14You're cool here.
23:15Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:16If it weren't for the heat, I'd kind of want to be here forever.
23:18Oh, that's awesome.
23:19I know.
23:20We would love to make this an annual trip.
23:22It's very far and very expensive.
23:24But it is very awesome to just be able to sit all day,
23:28run into people and just watch basketball.
23:31I mean, it was a bad year for, like, a potential star's draft,
23:36which barely bothers me, to be honest.
23:40But, like, last year's Summer League, it had Wemby.
23:44Yeah.
23:45Which is insane.
23:46Wemby, Brandon Miller.
23:47Yeah.
23:48The year before, like, Palo and Jabari Smith and some of those guys.
23:51I don't even remember Jalen Green in Summer League,
23:54but I feel like he would have been awesome at Summer League.
23:56Yeah, I can't really remember what he did at Summer League either.
23:58But, yeah.
23:59So, like, in two years or whatever, who knows, man?
24:02Who knows?
24:03Maybe next year.
24:04Maybe next year.
24:05We'll see.
24:06Yeah, I got to do some really epic parenting when I get home
24:08in order to make this happen.
24:09I got a lot of work to do.
24:11Yeah.
24:12Absolutely, yeah.
24:13I got to go back to work.
24:15Yeah.
24:16Well, who knows?
24:17You fly us out.
24:18Yeah.
24:19Fine.
24:20Yeah, which seems fair.
24:21Keep reading those ads.
24:22Keep reading those ads.
24:23Should we say that concludes the draft?
24:24And then have you got any, like, undrafted Sammy Howser
24:27Waverland pickups that you want to get to before we wrap up?
24:30Yeah.
24:31I think just, like, that moment when you walk in, you know what I mean,
24:37and you're finally there.
24:38It's just really fun, really cool.
24:40It's like, wow, we've been planning this shit since October.
24:43And you're, like, finally walking into the Thomas & Mac.
24:46We immediately beeline it to get a beer.
24:49We accidentally got four beers due to miscommunication on my behalf.
24:53Damn it.
24:54And just, like, sitting down.
24:56The game's about to start.
24:57We have our first beer.
24:59And it's like, we made it, boys.
25:01Like, we're here.
25:02It's like, all we have to do is sit down for the next six hours and
25:07drink beer, eat chicken tendies, and watch basketball.
25:10It's just like, oh, this is essentially heaven.
25:13Yeah, and the pace of the games is really nice.
25:15Eight-minute halftimes.
25:17The games start on time.
25:18So if a game ends early, they'll have a 30-minute in between a game.
25:22But if a game ends late, it's eight minutes, and then the next game is
25:25rolling out.
25:26So it's just awesome.
25:27Short of timeouts.
25:28Yeah.
25:29It's just quick.
25:30It's a little like a music festival.
25:32It's just like, bang.
25:33It's awesome.
25:34Next on the main stage, the Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards.
25:38That's right.
25:39Ronny James.
25:40Oh, man.
25:41Don't make our draft.
25:42That was, yeah.
25:43That was he.
25:44I mean, that could be my undrafted thing was the Lakers fans being sad.
25:48I enjoyed that.
25:49That was fun.
25:50I didn't like.
25:51And also, being there for Ronny James is just a cool moment, dude.
25:55We were there for LeBron's son's summer league in Vegas debut.
26:00And it was not good.
26:02It was not.
26:03It was not.
26:04And to see, like, just the gradual disdain on the Lakers fans' faces.
26:07And we kind of talked about this on our first part.
26:09But the guy sitting next to us just, like, gradually sad.
26:11And then he rage quit halfway through the fourth quarter and left the arena.
26:15Actually, like, props to him for withstanding our clear, like, emanating
26:19Lakers hate coming from who were clearly three Celtics fans for as long as he
26:22did.
26:23But, yeah, that's definitely an undrafted highlight.
26:25Being maniacally laughing every time Bronny missed a corner for you.
26:28That was in the warm-ups, dude.
26:30That was in the warm-ups.
26:32You lost it.
26:33And I was like, this is a professional hater.
26:35Yeah, that's true.
26:36Right here.
26:37Walking around the casino at night and just the insane, like, bevy of NBA
26:42players that you see, like, just inadvertently just be walking around.
26:45And it's like, there goes Avery Bradley.
26:47There goes Pascal Siakam.
26:48Yesterday we're playing Blackjack video.
26:50Video Blackjack.
26:51And CJ McCollum just walks past.
26:54And, Jake, you gave him a little wave and he acknowledged you.
26:58Yeah, that was one of the lower-level acknowledgements.
27:02You got something.
27:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:04Yeah, I mean, I suppose it's not meant to be surprising.
27:07You're here in NBA Summer League and there's so many other sort of
27:11associated events occurring around Summer League.
27:13So everyone's here converging on Vegas, which is why it's so good to be here
27:16as well.
27:17And yet every time you see an NBA player, you're just, like, awestruck by
27:20the hype and just, like, the general richness of their vibe, the wealth
27:24emanating from them as well.
27:25It's really cool.
27:26It is funny.
27:27And also just, like, every tall person, you're like, wait, hang on.
27:29What do we got here?
27:30Yeah, dude.
27:31I know you're on a Summer League roster, but I don't know who you are.
27:35They all get, like, a coach or a scout or, you know, GM, front office,
27:39whatever.
27:40Like, yeah, they're all associated with the team in some degree.
27:42Question from Birkin in the chat.
27:44Should we be concerned about Jordan Walsh?
27:47I'm concerned about Jordan Walsh.
27:49Not yet.
27:50It's one game.
27:51Yeah.
27:52I'm just telling you I'm emotionally concerned.
27:53That's fair.
27:54Oh, yeah.
27:55It was disappointing.
27:56It could mean nothing.
27:57And that's made my eye better on drafting.
27:58That made me sad.
27:59I don't know of, like, what he needs to do in the next couple games to turn
28:02this to a positive Summer League for him because I feel like that first game
28:06really sticks in people's heads lots of time with Summer League.
28:09But, I mean, if he's just, like, okay in the next couple games,
28:13I think I'll be fine with it.
28:15But, man, it's not good.
28:18It's not good.
28:19I think just play a bit more within himself.
28:21Yeah.
28:22I don't know, but, like, maybe they want him to take all the threes.
28:24They might, yeah.
28:25So that's fine.
28:26But, yeah, Jordan Walsh.
28:28I wish I was going to stay and be here for you tomorrow.
28:30I know.
28:31The bounce back game.
28:32It's unfortunate.
28:33But, yeah, man.
28:34Well, I think also next time it's like do we try and Greeny was like if you do
28:39weekdays, it's, like, way less busy and so you can kind of bounce around
28:43between the Cox and the Thomas and Mack way easier and you can, like,
28:46hear more, even more than you already can, which is already insane.
28:50But also the atmosphere we wouldn't have gotten from, like,
28:53Houston if it wasn't for, like, a Friday night, which was sick.
28:56Right.
28:57And, like, I don't think the NBA players are here through the week.
28:59Right.
29:00They're probably leaving today or tomorrow.
29:02So I think being here that first weekend when, like,
29:04everybody's here is kind of awesome.
29:06Very cool.
29:07Yeah.
29:08Oh, man.
29:09See, like, right in the chat we got Nick and Daniel look like they're both
29:11going to be here for the Seas Lakers game.
29:13Yeah.
29:14So I think we might be missing a few people.
29:16But, like, you know, it is what it is.
29:18Next year.
29:19Yeah.
29:20I'm so glad I'm leaving, though.
29:22Yeah.
29:23Yeah.
29:24Like, I want to stay, but I'm also, like, I'm so happy my flight's tonight.
29:27Yeah.
29:28Like, I was thinking about putting, like, the city of Las Vegas in the draft,
29:31but I can't quite get there.
29:34I'm not sure why.
29:35It's a fucking weird place, dude.
29:36It's a really weird place.
29:37It is weird.
29:38It's far more confusing than I was anticipating.
29:40So confusing.
29:41We even got lost walking over here right now,
29:44even though we'd walked over here, like, a dozen times in three days.
29:47We're across the road from each other,
29:49which was part of the appeal of each booking those hotels.
29:51And, like, to get from one place to the other,
29:53it's, like, at least a 20-minute excursion, which is crazy.
29:56And it's so difficult to find your way out of one casino.
29:59And yet you find yourself beckoned into the next one so easily.
30:02So I guess it's all obviously by design.
30:04And don't love the solicitors when you're walking.
30:07Just everybody's like, here, yo.
30:09Yo, here, here, here.
30:11Take this.
30:12Take this.
30:13It's like, just leave me alone, dude.
30:14You're so hung over.
30:15They got me on the first day because, like, I was so dusty.
30:19Just leave me alone.
30:20I gave one guy $20, and I gave another guy $10,
30:22and then that guy got mad at me because the other guy got $20,
30:25and this guy got $10.
30:26I'm like, guys, I'm literally going to die.
30:28It's 45 degrees Celsius, and you're just basically robbing me.
30:31Please let me go.
30:33Last question.
30:35Dynasty, no dynasty.
30:37This is the way I've been framing it.
30:39Summer League dynasty or Celtics dynasty?
30:41Please clarify.
30:42I think Celtic dynasty.
30:44I've been framing it as we are the team with the best chance
30:47to repeat since the Warriors, and you just go from there.
30:49And wouldn't that be dynastic in the current NBA environment?
30:53You think two?
30:54Well, I think so.
30:55Two plus remaining contenders, and then maybe you get one more.
30:58You've got to get to four, really,
31:00if you want to be in a real dynastic conversation.
31:02I think three, you can make this as a dynasty.
31:05I think it's not going to compete with the best dynasties.
31:08It's like the 80s Celtics won three, right?
31:10Maybe dynastic, dynastic-ish.
31:13Yeah, it's just hard now with the CBA.
31:15It's set up to just make that impossible to achieve.
31:18So to win two despite that, I think, would be dynastic.
31:21I love that take, Ben.
31:22I love that take.
31:23Let's become a dynasty.
31:24Modern day dynasty.
31:26I like it.
31:27The second apron dynasty.
31:29So what's the plan for today, guys?
31:31We're about to wrap up this pod and go where and do what?
31:34Well, so the Euros final has just started,
31:37so we could go to the sports book downstairs and check that out.
31:41Sounds delightful, honestly.
31:43Or we can just go straight to Summer League.
31:45We got bucks, calves, Clippers, nets, Timberwolves, Pacers.
31:48I've got to leave at around like 3, 3.30 for the airport,
31:52but I don't know.
31:53I'm easy.
31:54Cool.
31:55Let's figure it out.
31:56Good problems to have.
31:57Let's go.
