00:00One morning, the Fat Controller and his grandchildren came to see Toby.
00:05Come on, Toby, we're all going to Seaside. We will ride in Henrietta.
00:09Yes, sir, said Toby happily.
00:12They came to a small Seaside station.
00:16Soon, the children were playing in the sand, building a splendid castle.
00:21The Fat Controller inspected it.
00:23My word, that's a very fine castle. Have you seen a real one like it?
00:28Yes, replied the children. It's here on the island, and they showed him a map.
00:33Hmm, pondered the Fat Controller.
00:36They met Toby at the harbour.
00:39Come on, we're going exploring. It will be a great adventure.
00:50Soon, they were in the wildest part of the island.
00:53They stopped by a lonely signal box.
00:58Where might you be going then, asked the signalman.
01:02We're trying to find an old castle, replied the Fat Controller.
01:06I know the place, sir, said the signalman.
01:09There's a small junction not too far down the line. Just switch the points.
01:15When the firemen switched the points, their adventure really began.
01:26Toby pushed past branches and bushes till they came to another little junction.
01:36There, they saw two old signs.
01:39One read, to the castle, and the other, to the mine.
01:43We'll go check castle first.
01:53Toby stopped by an old water tower.
01:56There's the castle.
01:59Yes, replied the Fat Controller, and now we shall visit the mine.

02:10Once upon a time, the mine had been worked by the little engines and their lines were still in place.
02:16But now everything was very rusty and overgrown.
02:25The Fat Controller was most impressed, but Toby was rather scared.
02:30He was glad when it was time to go home.
02:35I think the castle and the mine will make a very fine place for visitors,
02:40but it will take a lot of hard work first.
02:43Yes, sir, said Toby nervously.
02:47The Fat Controller's plans were soon put into action, but Toby was still worried.
02:53I'm sure this place is haunted, he said to himself.
02:56It's our turn to stay here on guard tonight, Toby.
03:00Oh, yes, why not? stuttered Toby.
03:03Beware of the ghost, Toby, Thomas said.
03:06What ghost? asked Toby.
03:08The old warrior ghost. Every night he lights his fire, then goes hunting.
03:12Toot, toot, goodbye, Thomas replied.
03:19Night came.
03:21Toby looked anxiously around. Everything seemed rather spooky.
03:26Quite suddenly he heard a strange wheezing sound.
03:32It's the ghost! he wailed.
03:34What ghost? his driver asked.
03:36It's the old warrior. He's come to hunt me down.
03:40Don't be so daft. We'll go and investigate.
03:46They returned quite soon.
03:49The old warrior wants to meet you, laughed his fireman.
03:52Can't it wait till morning? replied Toby.
03:55Ghosts don't work day shifts, said his driver.
03:58Toby bravely made his way.
04:01Well, bless my bell! he exclaimed.
04:04There in front of him was a little old engine.
04:07This is your ghost, Toby, said the signalman.
04:10His name's really Bertram, but we call him the old warrior because he's so brave.
04:18Bertram and Toby are now firm friends.
04:21They take the visitors to the splendid castle and the mine.
04:24If there are any ghosts here, they certainly help to make the place very happy.
