01:58In an open letter to the president dated Tuesday, July 16, the group argues the approval of
02:03licenses filed by such POGOs violates the rules of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming
02:08Corporation, or PAGCOR.
02:10The group insists PAGCOR has the power to immediately cancel a license of a POGO that
02:15is later discovered to have made misrepresentations or provided false information.
02:20This sprouted across the Philippines in 2016 as operators took advantage of liberal gaming
02:25laws under the administration of Rodrigo Duterte.
02:28Many POGO operators are run by Chinese nationals as gambling is banned in China.
02:34Scrutiny of POGOs intensified in recent months as the Senate investigates illegal activities
02:39linked with offshore gaming operators.
