00:00We will revive irrigation in almost 38,000 hectares of land in the country.
00:11One of the projects completed is the Stage 2 of the Malitubog-Maridagao Irrigation Project.
00:18Almost 10,000 hectares of land in North Cotabato and Maguindanao del Sur
00:24will be serviced by this irrigation.
00:30Some of the irrigations we are doing now are solar.
00:35This means that these are run by the sun.
00:40They do not run out and do not require the use of crude oil.
00:45One example is the newly opened Kabaruan Solar Powered Pump Irrigation Project in Quirino, Isabela.
00:57Meanwhile, because of the Halaur River Multipurpose Project in Iloilo,
01:02almost 32,000 hectares of land will be provided with water.
01:09The Halaur River Project will prove the vast potential of irrigation.
01:18It will not only provide water to the farmers,
01:22but it will also be used to control flood,
01:26generate electricity, and also for tourism.
01:30Moving forward, irrigation dams will supplement all our other bulk water projects
01:36to ensure water security for our people, especially in the underserved areas.
02:06This has become a means of payment for affected farmers and fishermen.
02:12However, it is also good that modern ways of farming have already been launched,
02:19such as low-water use farming technologies.
02:23In our project Lawa at Binhi,
02:27we are already working on modern irrigation systems
02:31so that our farmers are more prepared and protected against drought.
