00:00As energy projects get completed and new investments pour into this sector,
00:06we expect our nation's power supply to increase at a steady pace
00:10to meet our growing demand in the next few years.
00:13Nonetheless, we are continuously diagnosing and urgently addressing power shortages,
00:19as well as the systemic causes of blackouts in unserved and underserved areas.
00:26We are mitigating the needs of areas that still lack electricity and are often browned out
00:33through microgrid and off-grid systems and missionary small power utilities
00:40that are still supported by solar.
00:55In the Visayas, all stages of the Cebu-Negros-Panay Backbone Project have likewise been completed.
01:07This project shall serve to stabilize the power situation in western and central Visayas
01:13and avert recurrences of power outages experienced in the past.
01:19Because of this project, blackouts in Panay Island were avoided from April to June
01:25despite the Yellow and Red Alerts in the region.
01:29And just last week, the Dumanhug-Corellia Line of the Cebu-Bohol Interconnection Project was energized,
01:39enabling the transfer of power between Cebu and Bohol.
01:44With these systems currently operating at capacity,
01:47these major power lines shall contribute to the efficient power exchanges
01:51not only between Luzon and the Visayas, but also involving Mindanao.
01:57Energy sharing and transfers between, among, and within the three island groups
02:03have now been made possible with the energization last January of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection.
02:15The energization of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection is a defining moment
02:21not only for the power sector, but for the entire country.
02:24Finally, we have connected the power grids of all three major island groups.
