London’s Piccadilly line is set for closures, but 94 new trains are coming.

00:00The Piccadilly line will partially close for two weeks in August for track and platform
00:06upgrades before new trains arrive. Transport for London said the line, which runs from
00:12Heathrow to Cockfosters, is to receive 94 new trains from next year. They will be the
00:18first deep trains to be fitted with air conditioning. The park closures on weekends in July and
00:25August and a 16-day stretch ending on September 1st will be covered by rail replacement buses.
00:31The routes affected will be those from Woodgreen to Cockfosters and Rainers Lane to Uxbridge.
00:38The new trains are part of a £2.9 billion investment to modernise one of the capital's
00:43deepest and oldest lines. It will feature walk-through carriages, wider double doorways
00:48for accessibility and on-train CCTV cameras as well as new air conditioning.
