00:00We will revive irrigation in almost 38,000 hectares of land in the whole country.
00:09One of the finished projects is Stage 2 of the Malitubug-Maridagao Irrigation Project.
00:16Almost 10,000 hectares of land in North Cotabato and Maguindanao del Sur will be serviced by this irrigation.
00:25Some of the irrigation projects we are doing now are solar.
00:33This means that we run these projects during the day,
00:38they do not run out and we do not need to use crude oil.
00:43One example is the newly opened Kabaruan Solar Powered Pump Irrigation Project in Quirino, Isabela.
00:55Meanwhile, because of the Halaul River Multipurpose Project in Iloilo,
01:01almost 32,000 hectares of land will be provided with water.
01:10The Halaul River Project will prove the potential of irrigation.
01:16Not only can irrigation be done by the farmers,
01:20it can also be used to control flooding, electricity and also for tourism.
01:28Moving forward, irrigation dams will supplement all our other bulk water projects
01:34to ensure water security for our people, especially in the underserved areas.
01:40The effects of the El Nino floods were severe, especially for the farmers.
01:47In response to the damage caused by the floods,
01:51our farmers received protection through the crop insurance we provided.
01:59In the past two years,
02:01more than P1,000 were paid for the affected farmers and fishermen.
02:10However, it is also good that modern farming methods such as low water use farming technologies
02:17have been implemented early on.
02:20In our Lawa at Binhig project,
02:24we are already working on modern irrigation systems
02:28to make our farmers more prepared and protected against drought.
