Typhoon Carina further intensifies as it heads towards Taiwan

Typhoon Carina intensified early Wednesday morning as it continued moving towards Taiwan, according to the latest PAGASA bulletin.

As of 4 a.m., typhoon Carina was located 290 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 190 kph.

00:00Good morning to all of us and the rainy season that we are experiencing in almost the whole country due to the typhoon and typhoon.
00:10And here is our update on the typhoon Kareena.
00:14And what you can see in our latest image is that almost the whole country we are able to transport the sky again.
00:21And we are experiencing scattered rains in Luzon and Visayas.
00:26Especially in the western section of Luzon and Visayas where we are experiencing occasional heavy rains.
00:35This typhoon Kareena is approaching Itbayat, Batanes which is 290 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
00:48It is a strong typhoon so the strong wind near the center of the typhoon Kareena is at 155 kilometers per hour
00:57and the downpour is at 190 kilometers per hour.
01:02We are still expecting that it will move in the direction northwest, northwestward.
01:08Northwestward, we are still expecting that it will move in the direction of Taiwan at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.
01:18So in our forecast track, we are still expecting that it will move to Taiwan before it leaves our PER.
01:30It is estimated that on Thursday morning, the typhoon Kareena will be outside our PER.
01:47Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is still high in Batanes.
01:52Signal No. 1 in Cagayan, along with Boboyan Islands,
01:57the eastern portion of Isabela, northern portion of Apayao, and northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
02:05So in our image, the areas with Tropical Wind Signal are in the extreme areas of our northern Luzon.
02:21So in these areas, there are extreme weather conditions where there are strong rains and strong winds.
02:32And earlier, around 5 o'clock in the morning, we issued a heavy rainfall warning.
02:38The areas in red are Metro Manila, Risal, and Bataan.
02:46In orange, it is in Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, and Zambales.
02:51In yellow, it is in Tarlac, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon.
02:56In these areas, we expect strong rains because of the southwest monsoon.
03:03In these areas, there is a possibility of flooding and landslides.
03:11So our advice is to be careful and alert because of floods and landslides.
03:23Because of the recent typhoon, we expect strong rains until tomorrow afternoon in Batanes, Boboyan Islands,
03:33northern and eastern portion of mainland Cagayan, and Ilocos Sur.
03:41Bunga, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Abra, Binguet, Apayau, and eastern portion of Isabela.
03:51Mostly here in northern Luzon, we expect strong rains because of the typhoon.
04:02Tomorrow afternoon until Thursday afternoon, this is what we expect outside the park,
04:11but we expect strong rains in Batanes, Boboyan Islands because of the typhoon.
04:19I would also like to add that in the eastern part of Luzon, including Metro Manila,
04:31we expect strong rains because of the typhoon.
04:39In other parts of Luzon and western Visayas, we expect strong rains.
04:49So we would like to remind you to be careful and alert because of the strong rains.
05:03Especially during the continuous rains, there is still a risk of flooding and landslides.
05:14We also expect strong winds from the west.
05:24Today, we expect strong winds from Ilocos Region, Abra, Binguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino,
05:34Zambales, Bataan Aurora, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Visayas,
05:45Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.
05:51Tomorrow, we expect strong winds mostly from Luzon, Boboyan Islands, Ilocos Region,
06:01Abra, Binguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa,
06:11Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao.
06:17Earlier, we issued a Gale Warning because we expect strong winds
06:27up to 4.5 meters or almost 5 meters because of the storms in Batanes,
06:33Northern Coast of Cagayan, along with Boboyan Islands.
06:37So, in other places, even without a Gale Warning,
06:41we are warning those who are planning to go abroad
06:49not to go because even without a Gale Warning,
06:54because our time now is harsh, and if the winds are strong,
06:58like what I mentioned earlier, we still expect strong winds today and tomorrow,
07:03and we expect strong rains because of the storms.
