00:00:00This Christmas, outside where the snow is falling, it's painting the mountains white.
00:00:15Inside here the fire's burning, we'll be warm all through the night.
00:00:22Cause now I have you here with me, bundled beneath the flow of the tree.
00:00:29This Christmas, let's write a love story.
00:00:32This Christmas, let's make it come true.
00:00:35This Christmas, let's make the glow of the tree.
00:00:39This Christmas, it'll be you and me.
00:00:42Nice one, Mom!
00:00:43You had to get your skiing jeans from somewhere, right?
00:00:45Yeah, from Dad.
00:00:50You know, for early season, that snow's not bad.
00:00:53Time for one more?
00:00:55No, I wish. I gotta get to work. The beer doesn't brew itself.
00:00:59Especially not this year.
00:01:01Now there's your father. He gave you that ridiculous work ethic.
00:01:05And a taste for beer.
00:01:06Okay, okay. You're right.
00:01:08I'll catch up with you later.
00:01:20Joy? What's wrong?
00:01:23I just see Pop everywhere I look.
00:01:26Well, they do say the first Christmas is the hardest.
00:01:31We'll get through it.
00:01:34It was his favorite time of year.
00:01:37He did love Christmas.
00:01:39He did?
00:01:41Yeah.
00:01:44It was his favorite time of year.
00:01:47He did love Christmas.
00:01:49The laughter, the camaraderie, the community.
00:01:55Christmas at Joe's.
00:01:57Christmas at Joe's.
00:02:00Joy, I just want to say,
00:02:03before all the Christmas craziness starts,
00:02:05how grateful I am.
00:02:07For what?
00:02:09Well, it couldn't have been easy.
00:02:12Giving up a skiing career to come back here and take care of this whole place?
00:02:16That was a huge sacrifice.
00:02:18No, Mom, it wasn't a sacrifice. I wanted to.
00:02:21Besides, it wasn't a very realistic dream.
00:02:24Oh, please. You really had a shot.
00:02:27Ski racers don't make any money.
00:02:31Don't be silly. You don't make money from the ski racing.
00:02:34You make money from the cereal box endorsement deals.
00:02:38No, but seriously, if it's too much,
00:02:40if taking care of this place gets too stressful...
00:02:43Mom, it's okay. It's going to be great.
00:02:45Okay? Joe's is the dream now.
00:02:48And I will do everything in my power to keep this place afloat.
00:02:52Everything.
00:02:55No, no, no, Joy.
00:02:57Those have been up there since we first opened.
00:02:59How much is up there anyway? Probably a couple hundred bucks?
00:03:01I mean, it wouldn't make much of a difference...
00:03:03Mom, I'm kidding. I would never.
00:03:07Man, I love living in a ski town.
00:03:10You meet the most incredible people from all over the world.
00:03:13I remember that one.
00:03:15Jack and Amelia, Sydney, Australia.
00:03:18Now, those folks like their beer.
00:03:21Yeah. Costa Rica. Thailand.
00:03:24Yeah.
00:03:25Oh, that one? An actual princess hung that one up.
00:03:29Or, well, her bodyguard did.
00:03:33There's Dad's original dollar.
00:03:36Yeah.
00:03:38And the next bill we hung up there after that was from Chamonix.
00:03:42The Girards.
00:03:44Yeah, they invited us over there to ski.
00:03:47They did?
00:03:48Yeah. Said we had an open invitation.
00:03:50I didn't know that.
00:03:51Yeah.
00:03:52Well, your Dad and I always dreamed of going over there one day.
00:03:56Yeah, like, when we were tired.
00:03:59But then we realized that we didn't have to travel to a special place.
00:04:03We lived in one.
00:04:05You're right, Mom.
00:04:06The French Alps don't have anything on Maple Glen.
00:04:17Hey, Kevin.
00:04:18Stepping up your game, I see.
00:04:21I'd fix those lights around the sign, though.
00:04:24Otherwise, it'll just look tacky.
00:04:26Thanks, Greg.
00:04:27You would know.
00:04:38Lovely decorations, Mrs. Keogh.
00:04:40Why, thank you, Greg.
00:04:42What gives?
00:04:45Are things really that bad?
00:04:47How desperate would we have to be to spend any of these?
00:04:50Oh, Greg!
00:04:53You must be craving a real beer
00:04:55instead of the generic stuff you serve over at Frosty's.
00:04:58Schultz may not meet your standards, but it meets the bottom line.
00:05:02It's a lot of money to be made pouring big beer.
00:05:04You should consider it.
00:05:06I will never stop brewing Joe's recipes.
00:05:09It's the 21st century, Joy.
00:05:12No offense, but people's tastes in beer are changing.
00:05:15Joe's brews are a little dated.
00:05:19That jacket's a little dated.
00:05:23What do you need, Greg?
00:05:25We're hosting the inaugural
00:05:27Vermont Christmas Brewski Competition this year.
00:05:29Thought you might like to enter.
00:05:31Brewski? Cute. What is it?
00:05:33It's a competition for the best craft brew in Vermont.
00:05:36And it culminates with a torchlight parade in the ski area.
00:05:39Craft beers at Frosty's?
00:05:43When is it?
00:05:45December 21st.
00:05:47When is it?
00:05:49December 23rd, the day before Christmas Eve.
00:05:51But entries have to be in the week before.
00:05:54Who's eligible?
00:05:56Anyone who brews craft beer in Vermont.
00:05:59It's a great opportunity.
00:06:01Werner gets a distribution deal with Schultz.
00:06:03I don't know.
00:06:05Don't be so stubborn.
00:06:07Just like your dad.
00:06:10We'll consider it.
00:06:13Great.
00:06:17You know, the offer from our ownership group
00:06:19to buy Mogul Joe's still stands.
00:06:21We're not interested.
00:06:23No more brewing at dawn.
00:06:26More time to ski and enjoy life.
00:06:30Like we used to.
00:06:33Actually, Mom and I got a few runs in this morning.
00:06:35It's the 21st century, Greg.
00:06:37Women can have it all now.
00:06:40Touché.
00:06:43And, Greg, we're not together anymore.
00:06:46Remember?
00:06:48I know.
00:06:51I know.
00:06:54Okay.
00:07:02Just think about it.
00:07:10Hey, Joy!
00:07:17You okay?
00:07:19I'm good.
00:07:21All right.
00:07:23Hey, look out!
00:07:30Joy!
00:07:32I'm so sorry.
00:07:34You okay?
00:07:38Oh, man.
00:07:40Okay, all right.
00:07:42Thanks.
00:07:44Jeez.
00:07:47You're not hurt, are you?
00:07:49Yeah, no, I'm fine,
00:07:51but why don't you watch where you're going next time?
00:07:54I didn't know I was skiing in the texting lane.
00:07:56I didn't know I was texting in the beginner's lane.
00:07:58Last I checked, this chair was for intermediate and advanced skiers only.
00:08:02Well, looks like I got off on the wrong lift.
00:08:04Uh-huh.
00:08:06And we got off on the wrong ski.
00:08:09Hey, I'm Zach.
00:08:11Hi.
00:08:14I'm Joy.
00:08:16Nice to meet you, Joy.
00:08:18Well, sorry again.
00:08:20I'm gonna go carve up some corduroy.
00:08:22Well, hey, hey, hey, hey, you don't want to go that way.
00:08:25It's pretty steep.
00:08:26Joy, I'm kind of an athlete.
00:08:28Oh! Oh! Ooh!
00:08:30Oh, boy.
00:08:32I'm gonna go this way, Joy.
00:08:34Don't worry about me.
00:08:37I got it.
00:08:39That's the trick.
00:08:42Yeah, there you go. Yeah.
00:08:43There we go.
00:08:44Yeah, all right.
00:08:45Listen, um, there's no shame in admitting that you're not an expert.
00:08:49They just groom gnomes run.
00:08:50Why don't you follow me?
00:08:52You don't have to do that.
00:08:54Well, it's not for you.
00:08:56I'm protecting the other skiers by putting you in isolation.
00:09:00Come on.
00:09:02Okay.
00:09:12I owe you one.
00:09:14Oh, no, you don't owe me anything.
00:09:16That ski lesson was a public service.
00:09:18Hey, can I buy you a beer in the lodge?
00:09:20No, thanks.
00:09:22They only serve Schultz on tap.
00:09:24Ugh.
00:09:25Besides, I got to get to work anyway.
00:09:27Where do you work?
00:09:28Mogul Joe's. It's a brew pub.
00:09:30I hear good things.
00:09:31You got any Vermont-style IPAs?
00:09:33No, we feature more traditional German and Austrian styles.
00:09:37But, uh, yeah, we got some new stuff in the works.
00:09:39You should come check us out.
00:09:41I definitely will.
00:09:43Well, it was nice bumping into you.
00:09:45I'm sure I'll see you around.
00:09:57Hey, guys. Sorry I'm late.
00:09:58Just getting off the hill?
00:10:00Yeah.
00:10:01I met this guy on the way here.
00:10:03He's a great guy.
00:10:05Who?
00:10:06Yeah, I met this guy today.
00:10:08Oh, you did, did you?
00:10:10No, it's nothing like that.
00:10:12He totally crashed into me coming off the chairlift,
00:10:15and I had to help him down the trail.
00:10:17He had no business being on the summit.
00:10:19And when was the last time you slowed down enough
00:10:21to help a total stranger down the mountain?
00:10:23It's not like that.
00:10:24He's a random tourist.
00:10:26Plus, he's a terrible skier.
00:10:27Well, that's a deal-breaker.
00:10:29Hey, where did Dad keep his recipes?
00:10:32You're thinking of entering that contest, aren't you?
00:10:34Vermont-style holiday IPA might be just the spark we need.
00:10:38Well, Christmas is only four weeks away,
00:10:40so you better get going.
00:10:41I know.
00:10:42And if we don't have a huge week at Christmas,
00:10:44we might have to take Greg and Frosty's up on their offer.
00:10:47Well, your dad saved everything down in the cellar.
00:10:50You want to help me look?
00:10:53I'll be right down.
00:11:00What's this?
00:11:02Oh, that is your father's log
00:11:05of all the phone numbers and emails from the bills on their after.
00:11:09He kept track of everyone who ever invited us to visit.
00:11:12Wow, there's so many names.
00:11:14He really had a way of making friends with everybody, didn't he?
00:11:25Oh, I think I found it in this box of mugs.
00:11:28How did he keep track of everything?
00:11:30Oh, that was your dad's recipe filing system.
00:11:33Dotted on a napkin and stashed it in a safe place.
00:11:36Look at all these hops.
00:11:38Chinook, amarillo, simcoe, citra, mosaic.
00:11:42This is going to be harder than I thought.
00:11:44What were you thinking? Classic IPA?
00:11:47No, it needs a holiday twist.
00:11:49I got some ideas.
00:11:51Oh, my gosh.
00:11:53These are from the old Christmas mug club.
00:11:56I can't believe we still have these.
00:11:58Look.
00:12:00One of our guests sent this from Munich.
00:12:03And when your dad opened the box, he dropped it.
00:12:07And we just held our breath and watched as it bounced across the floor.
00:12:11Somehow, it never shattered.
00:12:14We should bring back the Christmas mug club.
00:12:17It would be a great way for you to launch your new beer.
00:12:20Oh, my goodness.
00:12:22Look.
00:12:25Your snow globe.
00:12:27Oh.
00:12:29When were you, like, five years old?
00:12:31Something like that.
00:12:33I remember when he gave me this that Christmas.
00:12:35I thought it was the most magical thing in the world.
00:12:38The way the snow fell on this mountain.
00:12:44Well, we have over 30 years of history down here.
00:12:47Could spend a lot of time strolling down memory lane.
00:12:50Yeah, but that's time I don't have.
00:12:52I got to go brew the best beer that Mogul Joe's has ever brewed.
00:12:58Welcome to our home.
00:13:03Safe and sound from any winter storm.
00:13:10Come inside the cold.
00:13:13Cause how we've got a lot of memories to create.
00:13:19Memories to create right here.
00:13:23In our snow globe that we share.
00:13:27In our winter wonderland.
00:13:31In our snow globe that we share.
00:13:35In our winter wonderland.
00:13:41Got a surprise for you this Christmas, Pops.
00:13:44Something new, something different.
00:13:50I really wish you were here to help me with it, though.
00:13:53Could use some of your magic touch.
00:14:15I hear from corporate.
00:14:17After we get things rolling here in the Northeast,
00:14:19they want you out at headquarters in Colorado.
00:14:22I can't tell you how excited I am they agree to this new craft brew division.
00:14:26Corporate wasn't so sure about this, but you're very convincing.
00:14:30I know it's a radical new direction for Schultz.
00:14:33But it is a great opportunity.
00:14:36Tell me once again why the customers would want this.
00:14:39Craft brew's got its own culture.
00:14:41It's mostly independent.
00:14:43They make small batches to create big demand.
00:14:45And it leads to even bigger sales.
00:14:47Who doesn't like big sales, Bob?
00:14:51But isn't the ultimate goal to be acquired by someone like us?
00:14:55Yeah, for some.
00:14:57But for most independent breweries, they just want to represent the community.
00:15:02And create a taste of home.
00:15:05Well, sounds like you're the perfect guy for the job.
00:15:09Hey, take care of the local accounts this Christmas.
00:15:12We will have you out in Colorado in no time.
00:15:14Thanks, Bob.
00:15:21Thank you.
00:15:29Zach, right?
00:15:30Joy. We collided on the mountain the other day.
00:15:33Of course. Yeah, my hero.
00:15:36I didn't recognize you without your helmet and goggles.
00:15:38You want to join me?
00:15:40You look pretty busy.
00:15:41No, it's just a sales report. Please, sit.
00:15:44Okay. Just for a minute, though. I've got to get to work.
00:15:47Got to brew the beer, huh?
00:15:49Yeah.
00:15:52So, you're in sales?
00:15:55Yeah. Yeah, I'm a rep.
00:15:58What do you sell?
00:16:01Schultz beer.
00:16:04Yeah, I took over for a guy named Greg Harris.
00:16:07He runs Frosty's Pub now.
00:16:09It's actually one of our bigger accounts.
00:16:11Maybe you know him?
00:16:12Yeah, I know Greg.
00:16:15So, you're a big beer guy?
00:16:18Look, nobody knows the dynamics
00:16:20between craft breweries and big beer companies like I do.
00:16:23Oh, yeah?
00:16:25Yeah.
00:16:26That's why Schultz is sending me to Colorado in a couple months
00:16:29to partner up with microbreweries.
00:16:32So, big beer is going to sell fake craft beer
00:16:36to our competitors and squeeze us out of business?
00:16:39Do you have any idea
00:16:41how hard my dad had to work to build our brand and our following?
00:16:46Being the only craft beer in town is what has kept us alive.
00:16:53I'm sorry. It's just that it's personal to me.
00:16:56It's okay. I get it.
00:17:00Hey, um...
00:17:03I'd still like to try your beer sometime.
00:17:06We open every day at three.
00:17:36Yeah.
00:18:02Hello? Anybody here?
00:18:07Huh.
00:18:19You stealing our tips?
00:18:21You guys open yet?
00:18:23Technically, no.
00:18:25You want me to come back later?
00:18:27No. It's okay.
00:18:30You have quite a collection.
00:18:33Guests from all over the world.
00:18:35Some pretty good memories up there.
00:18:37Huh.
00:18:39Is this a chairlift guy?
00:18:41My mother, Mary Keogh.
00:18:44Nice to meet you, Mary.
00:18:46Zach Chase.
00:18:47I was just saying, got a lot of admirers.
00:18:50Oh, it's delightful to meet you, Zach.
00:18:53You too.
00:18:57A little early for Opry, isn't it?
00:19:00I was just hoping to sample a few of your beers.
00:19:03Craving something other than Schultz and Schultz Light.
00:19:06Which we will never serve here, by the way.
00:19:11I come as a beer lover, not a salesman.
00:19:14However, I do have a pitch for you.
00:19:16Doesn't involve beer.
00:19:18I was just hoping that maybe you could give me another ski lesson.
00:19:22Oh. Uh...
00:19:25I don't know.
00:19:26There's a little more than three weeks till Christmas,
00:19:28and I have a million things to do, but...
00:19:30How about this?
00:19:32Pour me a flight of Mogul Joe's Finest.
00:19:34If I can guess what they are, you owe me a lesson.
00:19:37Well, if your expert palate is anything like your expert skiing,
00:19:41this should be a cinch.
00:19:44Take a seat.
00:19:45Okay.
00:19:51Oh. Whoa. What did I get myself into?
00:19:54Blind taste test. You game?
00:19:57I'm game. Bring it.
00:20:02Okay. This should be interesting.
00:20:09All righty.
00:20:11Number one.
00:20:22Roasted malts.
00:20:23Hints of coffee.
00:20:25Milk chocolate.
00:20:27What is that? Hazelnut?
00:20:29And...
00:20:30Oh, figs.
00:20:31Oh, come on, Joy. That's Belgian stout.
00:20:34Pretty good, but don't get ahead of yourself, okay?
00:20:37Here's number two.
00:20:41Okay. Mmm. All right.
00:20:45Oh, that's complex. Mm-hmm.
00:20:48Mmm. Sturdy malt backbone.
00:20:51Mild fruity aromas.
00:20:53It's like toffee flavors layered with red apples, orange zest, and...
00:20:58plums.
00:20:59You know, the obvious answer is Belgian pale ale,
00:21:02but I'm gonna go with Bière de Gard.
00:21:07Wow.
00:21:08Thanks, Mary. By the way, guys,
00:21:10the sense of smell is more important than the sense of sight.
00:21:14Just saying.
00:21:16All right, Mr. Super Taster.
00:21:20Number three.
00:21:21Okay. Number three.
00:21:24Oh, this is a tough one.
00:21:29Mmm.
00:21:30You know, mild, crisp notes, full malt flavors.
00:21:34Is that a touch of caramel with roasted fruit?
00:21:38Man, I want to say Dunkelsbach, but...
00:21:41for the win, I'm gonna go Doppelbach.
00:21:45Most people haven't even heard of a Doppelbach.
00:21:47Well, most people aren't studying to be a Cicerone.
00:21:50What's a Cicerone?
00:21:52It's like a wine sommelier for beer.
00:21:55I think I just got hustled.
00:21:59Hey, Lucy.
00:22:02Zach, I would like for you to meet
00:22:04the most important woman in Maple Glen,
00:22:06the chairperson, in fact.
00:22:08This is Lifty Lucy.
00:22:09Nice to meet you, Lucy.
00:22:10Hey, is there any chance that we could get on the lift a little early?
00:22:14Huh?
00:22:15Answer's the same as it always is.
00:22:17Chair opens at 9 a.m. sharp.
00:22:19We're gonna be late.
00:22:20I'm gonna be late.
00:22:21I'm gonna be late.
00:22:22I'm gonna be late.
00:22:23I'm gonna be late.
00:22:24I'm gonna be late.
00:22:25I'm gonna be late.
00:22:26I'm gonna be late.
00:22:27It's 9 a.m. sharp.
00:22:28If I let you on early, I'd have to let everyone on early.
00:22:39Oh, Lucy, we're bringing back the Christmas Mug Club.
00:22:41I'll dig out my Santa mug.
00:22:50Why'd you decide to start skiing now?
00:22:53I moved to a ski town.
00:22:55Guess I always wanted to learn.
00:22:57Well, what took you so long?
00:23:01My dad tried to teach me when I was young.
00:23:04We didn't get along that well.
00:23:06So I just played hockey with my friends.
00:23:09Anyhow, my dad's coming in town for Christmas,
00:23:11and now that he's older and I'm wiser,
00:23:16I just want to make up for some lost time.
00:23:19I'll take him on a few runs.
00:23:22Sweet.
00:23:23Hmm.
00:23:26My dad was a great skier.
00:23:30He was a pretty popular guy around here, too.
00:23:35You say that like he's not around anymore.
00:23:38Yeah.
00:23:39We lost him about a year ago.
00:23:44I'm sorry.
00:23:48Me too.
00:23:54Okay.
00:23:56Keep your upper body quiet.
00:23:58Move half the body, use half the energy.
00:24:01Feel that downhill ski engage at the tip.
00:24:05Hey, can you teach me to ski backward like that?
00:24:08After you learn to ski forward.
00:24:11Ha!
00:24:23Thank you.
00:24:39The Christmas scavenger hunt, that's a pretty fun tradition.
00:24:42Yeah.
00:24:44Yours must have been a little different growing up in a brewery.
00:24:47I mean, I guess so.
00:24:49I was so young when they bought the place,
00:24:51I didn't really know any different.
00:24:52And my dad sunk everything he had into that place.
00:24:56That first Christmas, it was magical.
00:25:00My dad wanted Joe's to be the kind of place where everybody felt welcome.
00:25:04Where, like, even if you were alone on Christmas Day,
00:25:07you could go in there and you would meet friendly people
00:25:09who would take you in, no questions asked.
00:25:12Christmas at Joe's.
00:25:14After you open gifts at home
00:25:15and go to whatever church services you want to attend,
00:25:18everyone brings a gift for children in need
00:25:20and congregates at Joe's.
00:25:22Wow.
00:25:24You gonna keep up the tradition this year?
00:25:27I hope so.
00:25:29It'll be our first year without him.
00:25:32For what it's worth, um,
00:25:35time does help.
00:25:39That's what I hear.
00:25:45I was living in New York City when my mom passed.
00:25:47I told my ex-wife,
00:25:49I am done with the corporate rat race.
00:25:52I'm gonna pursue my dream.
00:25:54She didn't have the same dream?
00:25:57Her dream was New York.
00:26:04That's why I'm moving to Colorado.
00:26:06So I can do the work I love and find my people.
00:26:11There's a Christmas auction at Frosty's tomorrow.
00:26:14Do you want to go with me?
00:26:16Isn't Frosty's enemy territory?
00:26:20Yes.
00:26:22All the local businesses take turns hosting
00:26:25and we donate items for people to bid on.
00:26:28It's a good way to raise money for charity.
00:26:30Sounds fun.
00:26:32I'll be there.
00:26:41Oh, thank you for the bid.
00:26:44Hey there.
00:26:46Hi, Zach.
00:26:48What's the highest bid so far for the tree?
00:26:50I could do better than that.
00:26:52You don't have to.
00:26:54Well, no, that's the whole point of this, right?
00:26:56Thank you, Zach.
00:26:58I appreciate it.
00:27:00That snowman out there's getting all the attention.
00:27:02Oh, wow.
00:27:04That's a lot of snow.
00:27:06I know.
00:27:07That snowman out there's getting all the attention.
00:27:09Oh, wow.
00:27:11He is quite the character.
00:27:13How well did you say you know Greg?
00:27:16Pretty well.
00:27:18He's actually my ex.
00:27:21He is?
00:27:23Yeah.
00:27:25We grew up here together in Maple Glen
00:27:27and we dated on and off through high school and college.
00:27:30Then after college, that's when he got the job with Schultz
00:27:33and I left to go skiing.
00:27:35And then my dad got sick.
00:27:37And I came back home
00:27:39and jumped into the family business.
00:27:41That's when I realized it wasn't going to work.
00:27:57You mastered the blues.
00:27:59You went all the way down Sleigh Ride without falling?
00:28:01Well done.
00:28:03I slayed that Sleigh Ride.
00:28:05Yeah, you're the Sleigh Ride slayer.
00:28:08And you are the Queen of Diamonds.
00:28:12I love it.
00:28:14The name or the accent?
00:28:16Both.
00:28:18When's my next lesson?
00:28:20Well, with all the progress you've made,
00:28:22the only thing that's left to do is practice.
00:28:25Whoa.
00:28:27You're not going to unleash me on the unsuspecting public.
00:28:29Yes, my duty to the people of Maple Glen is over.
00:28:33Well, selfishly, I had an ulterior motive for one more lesson.
00:28:38What's that?
00:28:41I really like spending time with you.
00:28:49I got a new idea.
00:28:51It's going to put Mogul Joe's back on the map.
00:28:53Another old world classic?
00:28:55No.
00:28:57It's a hop-forward holiday IPA.
00:28:59It's a twist on one of my dad's old recipes.
00:29:02Huh. It's a perfect addition to the taps.
00:29:05You really think so?
00:29:07Absolutely.
00:29:09You know, the first time I went in there,
00:29:11I felt like a local, even though I'd never been there before.
00:29:14You can never lose that feeling of nostalgia.
00:29:17We might be a little too nostalgic.
00:29:19Never. Uh-uh.
00:29:21A holiday IPA will bring Mogul Joe's past into the future.
00:29:24Yeah.
00:29:26Well, I've got my dad's old recipe,
00:29:28but it's a little vague, to say the least.
00:29:30Vague?
00:29:32Unfinished.
00:29:34Maybe I can help you with some flavor profiles.
00:29:36No way. No!
00:29:38You're going to have to get to know me a little better
00:29:40before I tell you all my secrets.
00:29:42Deal.
00:29:48Wow. Very impressive.
00:29:51Well, you asked for it,
00:29:53so don't complain when I treat you like the rest of my tours.
00:29:55Hey, Kev.
00:29:57Hey, Joy.
00:29:58As I'm sure you're aware,
00:30:01the first step in beer making is cracking the grains.
00:30:04Mm-hmm.
00:30:06Oh, I love this part.
00:30:10That happen on all your tours?
00:30:15The cracked grains, or grist,
00:30:18is augured to the grist case,
00:30:21where it's mixed with hot water in the mash tun.
00:30:25Come here.
00:30:28We let the grains steep, like tea,
00:30:31and the grains release all their sugars.
00:30:33This sweet, unfermented beer is called wort.
00:30:37Good old wort.
00:30:40That's in here.
00:30:44The wort is sent to the boil kettle,
00:30:47where we add hops after a controlled boil,
00:30:50and then when it cools, it's sent to the fermenters,
00:30:53and we add yeast.
00:30:55That's what converts it to alcohol.
00:30:56When do you add the Christmas magic?
00:30:58Mm, great question.
00:31:00After it boils, we add any special ingredients,
00:31:03like, um, you know, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, pumpkin.
00:31:08You don't like pumpkin?
00:31:10People like pumpkin.
00:31:14I wanted you to see.
00:31:16These are the three brews that I'm working on.
00:31:18Okay, so this is where the recipes are born.
00:31:21Yep.
00:31:23Something tells me that brewing means more to you
00:31:28than just the science of it all.
00:31:30Yeah. Competitive skiing was a dream I had,
00:31:33and I got to live it.
00:31:35But what my dad did was bring people together.
00:31:38That's the dream now.
00:31:40I think it's beautiful and important,
00:31:42and I am going to fight to keep this place going
00:31:44for as long as possible.
00:31:47That probably sounded really cheesy.
00:31:49No.
00:31:51It sounded real.
00:31:53And if you need any help, you just have to let me know.
00:31:56I owe you for the ski lessons.
00:31:58There actually is something that I was thinking about.
00:32:00Shoot.
00:32:02I was so impressed with your advanced tasting skills,
00:32:04I was hoping that you might try my three holiday IPAs
00:32:07and tell me what you think honestly.
00:32:09Honestly?
00:32:11I'd be honored.
00:32:13Hey, let me get a picture
00:32:15of the mad scientist in her lab, huh?
00:32:19Yeah.
00:32:21Ready?
00:32:27I don't know if you heard,
00:32:29but Schultz is sending me to Colorado after the new year.
00:32:31He started up a craft brew division.
00:32:33That's great.
00:32:35Hey, I got an idea I want to run by you.
00:32:37Shoot.
00:32:39Since you're one of our best accounts
00:32:41and you're hosting the brewski event,
00:32:43I thought maybe you'd want to pour the winning beer
00:32:46for Christmas week.
00:32:47It'll be a huge boost to the brand and to Frosty's.
00:32:52Especially if the winner is Joy Keogh from Uncle Joe's.
00:32:57I heard about your history with Joy.
00:32:59Hey, whether she's the winner or not,
00:33:01it's good business.
00:33:03And frankly,
00:33:05Frosty's could use a little variety on tap.
00:33:09Have you spoken to Bob Salamano about this?
00:33:12No, no, not yet.
00:33:14I wanted to run it by you first.
00:33:16Well, it would be fun to have a festive holiday brew
00:33:19on tap this Christmas.
00:33:21I'll run it up the flagpole,
00:33:23see if ownership salutes it.
00:33:25Hey, thanks for being such a good sport, Greg.
00:33:27You need anything from Schultz,
00:33:29you let me know, okay?
00:33:31Will do.
00:33:46Hi.
00:33:48Wow.
00:33:50Oh, you're not used to seeing me
00:33:52without a ski helmet or a beer apron, huh?
00:33:54No, I am not.
00:33:56Come on in.
00:34:00I got us set up over here.
00:34:02I didn't know you were going to go all Martha Stewart on me.
00:34:05What? I just made cookies as a palate cleanser.
00:34:09Okay, I need you to declare
00:34:11one of these holiday IPAs as perfect.
00:34:13Otherwise, it might just be game over for Mogul Joes.
00:34:16Not bad, huh?
00:34:19Well, now that I know the stakes,
00:34:21let's do this.
00:34:24Hmm.
00:34:26Happy aroma.
00:34:28Maybe a little too malty.
00:34:30The nutmeg and the cinnamon are getting lost.
00:34:33That's what I was afraid of.
00:34:35Not Christmassy enough.
00:34:36Mm-hmm.
00:34:47Hmm.
00:34:49I definitely detect the spices in here,
00:34:51but it might overwhelm any food it's paired with.
00:34:55Maybe too Christmassy.
00:34:57Yeah, maybe.
00:35:07Hmm.
00:35:10It's hoppy, but
00:35:12man, it's not too overpowering.
00:35:16Yeah, I can taste the nutmeg, ginger,
00:35:19and the cinnamon.
00:35:21Oh, this is nice.
00:35:23This has got a really good balance.
00:35:26Oh, yeah, this is it.
00:35:28I was hoping that you'd choose that one.
00:35:30But
00:35:32what's the secret ingredient?
00:35:34How do I describe it?
00:35:36Man, it's like
00:35:38being outdoors in the winter
00:35:40or sitting by the Christmas tree.
00:35:43Well, it's not pine, is it?
00:35:46I'll never tell.
00:35:48It's pine.
00:35:50It's so subtle.
00:35:52It really just evokes a feeling.
00:35:54Yeah, the feeling of Christmas.
00:35:56It's a perfect way to describe it.
00:35:58Nobody gets pine right.
00:36:00I can't believe that you could detect it.
00:36:02That's my superpower.
00:36:03Okay, well, let's just keep the secret between us, okay?
00:36:06You have my word.
00:36:08Okay, so
00:36:10I guess we just need a
00:36:12catchy name.
00:36:14Yeah, catchy name.
00:36:16Okay, how about
00:36:18Mistletoe Magic?
00:36:20Hmm, I'm thinking more something like
00:36:23Jumping for Joy.
00:36:25Oh, please.
00:36:27What? I'm serious.
00:36:29No.
00:36:31Okay, how about something a little more
00:36:33ale?
00:36:35No.
00:36:37No.
00:36:39No, that's it.
00:36:41Not happy.
00:36:43Hoppy.
00:36:45Hoppy Holiday.
00:36:47Hoppy Holiday.
00:36:49IPA.
00:36:51Whoa!
00:36:54Look who has two left skis now.
00:37:03Every bit of light shines through
00:37:09And it may be a hopeless dream
00:37:14But I dream of Christmas
00:37:18With you
00:37:23Walking through the village green
00:37:27Feeling so blue and all alone
00:37:31Stars above I wish upon
00:37:35Please bring my baby back home
00:37:40Good night, Kevin.
00:37:42Good night.
00:37:44Oh, Joy.
00:37:46Someone left this for you.
00:37:48What is this?
00:37:50And it may be a hopeless dream
00:37:54Oh!
00:37:56As Christmas draws nigh
00:37:58We turn grain into grist
00:38:01A hoppy cheer you will cry
00:38:04Buried up to your wrist
00:38:09But then again what's a man without love
00:38:13You, uh, you have a good night, Joy.
00:38:15When there's nothing to lose
00:38:19Like a child on Christmas Day
00:38:23Every bit of light shines through
00:38:29And it may be a hopeless dream
00:38:33But I dream of Christmas
00:38:36With you
00:38:38And it may be a hopeless dream
00:38:43But I dream of Christmas
00:38:47With you
00:38:59How do I look?
00:39:04You look beautiful.
00:39:06It's not what I was going for.
00:39:08But professional.
00:39:10Okay, better.
00:39:12Come on, have a seat.
00:39:14Bringing a little buzz around
00:39:16Happy Holidays is going to make all the difference.
00:39:18I can't believe you know people at Craft Brew.biz.
00:39:21Well, my job comes with some really good connections.
00:39:24Okay, and we are rolling.
00:39:29Hey, friends.
00:39:31I'm here with Vermont's hottest new brewmaster.
00:39:34She is from Mogul Joe's Pub in Maple Glen, Vermont.
00:39:37Joy Keogh, tell us about your new brew.
00:39:40Hoppy Holiday IPA is something that I started with my dad years ago.
00:39:45And we brought it back this year
00:39:47specifically for the Vermont Brewski Competition.
00:39:50We think that beer connoisseurs as well as everyday folks
00:39:53will really love Hoppy Holiday IPA.
00:39:55There's notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
00:39:58And there's a special ingredient
00:40:00which you'll have to taste for yourself.
00:40:02It's sort of like unwrapping a Christmas present.
00:40:05It really is.
00:40:07Hurry up, folks.
00:40:09Get to Mogul Joe's and grab a Hoppy Holiday IPA while you can.
00:40:13It's a limited batch.
00:40:15The legend lives on in Maple Glen, Vermont.
00:40:18Hottest new brewmaster, huh?
00:40:20Like I said, creating a little buzz.
00:40:23Man, they're going to love you.
00:40:25How could they not?
00:40:30Hey, Rosie.
00:40:31Thank you so much for doing this.
00:40:33My pleasure.
00:40:34Really, I wouldn't miss it.
00:40:36Hey, I heard you got an offer to play at Frosty's.
00:40:39Nobody would blame you if you took the gig.
00:40:41I would love to, but I'm afraid I can't.
00:40:43I heard you got an offer to play at Frosty's.
00:40:45Nobody would blame you if you took the gig.
00:40:47I would never, ever work there.
00:40:49Your father gave me a shot when no one else would.
00:40:52He saw something in me, and I won't forget that.
00:40:55Well, my mom and I both appreciate it.
00:40:57You guys are like family to me.
00:40:59Same to you. Hey, break a leg tonight.
00:41:01Thank you.
00:41:03Hey, Bob.
00:41:04Sir Chase.
00:41:06Yeah, I've been thinking about our Christmas brewski contest.
00:41:09What if we kick off our new initiative
00:41:10by pouring the winning brew at Frosty's for Christmas week?
00:41:15Yeah, talk to Greg about it.
00:41:17He's excited.
00:41:20Absolutely, Bob.
00:41:22Yeah, these are the kind of relationships
00:41:24we want to build for the new division.
00:41:26Hey, great.
00:41:28Thanks.
00:41:34Okay, does everybody have one?
00:41:36Ready.
00:41:37Okay.
00:41:38We're ready.
00:41:39Okay, guys, it's two weeks to Christmas,
00:41:41and Joe's has a brand new beer.
00:41:43To...
00:41:45Poppy Holiday, IPA.
00:41:47Here, here.
00:41:49And to the return of Mogul Joe's Christmas Mug Club.
00:41:52May the members grow to a thousand strong.
00:41:54Here, here!
00:42:03You did it, sweetie.
00:42:05Oh, it's delicious.
00:42:07This is good.
00:42:09Yeah.
00:42:23Hey!
00:42:25Sorry I missed the first toast.
00:42:27It was great.
00:42:29Check out this crowd.
00:42:31We might make it out of the red.
00:42:33Wow.
00:42:34You want a beer?
00:42:36Did you have to ask?
00:42:37Even better off the tab.
00:42:39Yeah.
00:42:40You enjoy.
00:42:41I'll be back.
00:43:07Hold me close, baby.
00:43:10Don't let me down.
00:43:15Open my heart.
00:43:17Hey, dance with me.
00:43:19Are you kidding me?
00:43:20We're way too busy.
00:43:21No.
00:43:22Oh, go on.
00:43:23Dance with me.
00:43:24Christmas night,
00:43:26the first of many.
00:43:28One dance.
00:43:31Our first dance.
00:43:35Our first dance.
00:43:37Our first kiss.
00:43:39Our first chance.
00:43:42So it's
00:43:44hit or miss
00:43:47to share this.
00:43:49I have to admit,
00:43:51you are a much better dancer
00:43:52than you are a skier.
00:43:54Yeah.
00:44:07These last couple weeks have been
00:44:09pretty awesome.
00:44:11For me, too.
00:44:14And thanks to you,
00:44:15I get to ski with my dad this Christmas.
00:44:18You have no idea how much that means.
00:44:23For sure I do.
00:44:26He's gonna love you.
00:44:30What?
00:44:32You're talking like you're not gonna leave this spring.
00:44:35You're gonna be halfway across the country.
00:44:39I can't even think about that right now.
00:44:46Just let me get through Christmas,
00:44:49and then I can take a deep breath.
00:44:53Okay.
00:45:09Greg, you make a wrong turn.
00:45:12You know, we only serve real beer here.
00:45:14Be nice, Kevin.
00:45:16In fact,
00:45:17I'd like to buy this man a happy holiday.
00:45:19Thank you, Mary.
00:45:20That's why I'm here.
00:45:22See what all the fuss is about.
00:45:28Enjoy.
00:45:52What's the secret ingredient?
00:45:53Oh.
00:45:54It's a pie.
00:46:00Hey, hey, hey.
00:46:01Hey, hey, hey.
00:46:02It's a secret.
00:46:03It's a secret.
00:46:17Excuse me.
00:46:18Yeah.
00:46:22Hey, Greg.
00:46:23Congratulations.
00:46:24Happy holiday, IPA.
00:46:26It's really good.
00:46:28I'm impressed.
00:46:29Thank you.
00:46:30So, I assume you're gonna enter the contest.
00:46:32Yeah, of course.
00:46:33We could use the publicity.
00:46:36What are you doing here?
00:46:39Can't a friend congratulate another friend on a job well done?
00:46:42A friend could, sure.
00:46:47Can we speak in private?
00:46:49Please?
00:46:50Of course.
00:47:04What do you need, Greg?
00:47:05You and Zach are looking pretty cozy out there.
00:47:08Is that why you're here?
00:47:11To check in on me and Zach?
00:47:12Because that's none of your business.
00:47:14He's leaving for Colorado in two months.
00:47:16And I'll deal with that when that happens.
00:47:18But I'm here now.
00:47:20You know, I thought when you got back and settled,
00:47:23things might go back the way they were between us.
00:47:25Are you seriously rehashing this again?
00:47:28You betrayed my father.
00:47:30The man who gave you your start.
00:47:32And I apologized for that already.
00:47:36I was just doing my job trying to get Schultz in at the ski resort.
00:47:39I had no idea they were gonna bump Mungle Joe's tab.
00:47:41Yeah, well, they did.
00:47:42And you should have.
00:47:43Joy, I hate the way things ended between us.
00:47:48How things still are between us.
00:47:52I just want another chance.
00:47:55I can't have this conversation with you.
00:47:57Okay.
00:47:58Look, we can talk about this another time.
00:48:00But I can't leave here thinking that we're not at least still friends.
00:48:06Greg.
00:48:07Come on.
00:48:09Friends?
00:48:13Friends.
00:48:15Friends.
00:48:23Oh, no.
00:48:25Zack!
00:48:44Oh, no!
00:49:15Hey.
00:49:20We didn't get a chance to say goodbye.
00:49:23I got a couple of accounts to check on,
00:49:25and you guys look like you need a little space.
00:49:29What you saw between me and Greg is not what you think.
00:49:33Okay.
00:49:35There's no reason to give us space.
00:49:37There's nothing going on.
00:49:38Does Greg know about this?
00:49:40No.
00:49:41But that's part of the problem.
00:49:43We broke up two years ago.
00:49:46Look, Joy.
00:49:47It's fine.
00:49:48Really.
00:49:49No, it's not.
00:49:52We live in a small town.
00:49:54When your ex is your competition, it's hard to make a clean break.
00:49:58The last thing I want to do is make you uncomfortable.
00:50:01It's not you making me uncomfortable.
00:50:04It's not.
00:50:06It's not.
00:50:08It's not.
00:50:09It's not you making me uncomfortable.
00:50:12It's Greg.
00:50:15I did get the distinct impression he didn't want me around.
00:50:20Maybe I shouldn't complicate things.
00:50:26I want you to complicate things.
00:50:31Hey, Joy.
00:50:32The Hoppy Holiday cake just kicked.
00:50:34Whoops.
00:50:36When you get a sec, Kevin wanted me to tell you...
00:50:39Sorry.
00:50:46Anyway, that's what I wanted to tell you.
00:50:49As far as I'm concerned, there's no us between me and Greg.
00:50:56Now I know.
00:51:01Thanks for the dance.
00:51:03It was nice.
00:51:06Good night, Joy.
00:51:09Good night.
00:51:19Bob!
00:51:20Greg Harris.
00:51:23Listen, Zack Chase was pitching me that we should pour the winning beer
00:51:27from the brewski competition here at Frosty's.
00:51:32Yeah.
00:51:34Yeah.
00:51:36I may have a better idea.
00:51:40You're cutting it close, Joy.
00:51:41Last chair is four o'clock sharp.
00:51:43I know. I've been flat out.
00:51:45I'm proud of you, Joy.
00:51:47It's a mighty fine brew.
00:51:51Go get them.
00:52:03What in the world?
00:52:33Oh.
00:52:59The Queen of Diamonds, is it?
00:53:01Good evening, Your Majesty.
00:53:04I want to thank you for my necklace.
00:53:07You had me going there for a minute.
00:53:08These diamonds almost look real.
00:53:10Almost?
00:53:11Well, the clerk assured me they were genuine.
00:53:14I'm going to have to march over to the quick mark and get my ten dollars back.
00:53:18In the meantime, please lock the crown jewels in a safe.
00:53:22I promise.
00:53:23Uh-oh.
00:53:24They're kicking me out.
00:53:25Must be closing early.
00:53:26I gotta run.
00:53:27See you tomorrow, Your Highness.
00:53:29I'll see you tomorrow.
00:53:31See you tomorrow.
00:53:37Looking at the Christmas tree
00:53:40Sitting here just you and me
00:53:43Cuddled up and snuggling
00:53:47It's where I want to be
00:53:50The candles glow by the fireside
00:53:53You curl up with me so tight
00:53:56And the stars, well they're shining bright
00:54:00And everything is alright
00:54:03Cause it's you and me at Christmastime
00:54:06Boy, we make the perfect rhyme
00:54:13Hello?
00:54:14Zack! How's it going out there?
00:54:16It's good, Bob. You know, crazy busy, the holidays.
00:54:19I've been thinking about that new initiative you proposed for the winner of the Brewski event.
00:54:25And I think we have an even better plan.
00:54:27Schultz has our own new holiday craft brew.
00:54:32Wait, what?
00:54:36Hold on, Bob.
00:54:37I gotta step outside.
00:54:39Season of Spice IPA is on its way to you as we speak.
00:54:43And I think by winning this contest, it'd be the perfect way to kick off the new brand.
00:54:49How can we do this? Schultz is sponsoring the contest.
00:54:52You know, it's a complete conflict of interest.
00:54:54It's a blind taste test with independent judges.
00:54:57Zack, I'm doing this for you.
00:55:00For the prestige of being the best craft brew in Vermont.
00:55:04Bob, these kind of rollouts take time, careful planning.
00:55:09We had to keep it under wraps until we were sure we could get it out on time.
00:55:13By the way, rumor has it you've been spending a lot of time at Mogul Joe's.
00:55:20And with its owner.
00:55:21What does that have to do with anything?
00:55:23Need I remind you, they don't even pour Schultz.
00:55:26Look, whatever's going on with you and the competition, this is a trade secret.
00:55:32Understood?
00:55:47Frosties is serving a holiday IPA.
00:55:54Oh, Jiminy Christmas.
00:55:57You've got to be kidding me.
00:56:06Joy, there's something I need to talk to you about.
00:56:09What is this?
00:56:11That's what I wanted to tell you.
00:56:13Schultz is coming out with a Christmas IPA.
00:56:15You knew?
00:56:17No, I just found out.
00:56:19Schultz doesn't have a craft brew.
00:56:22You are the craft beer guy.
00:56:24I swear I didn't know.
00:56:26Season of spice?
00:56:28And they're serving it at Frosties?
00:56:30Joy, I promise I didn't have anything to do with this.
00:56:36You guys believe me, right?
00:56:45I've got to taste that beer.
00:56:52Thank you.
00:57:08Can I get a, um, a season of spice?
00:57:11Yeah, keep it over here. Thank you.
00:57:19Thank you, thank you.
00:57:23Oh, here it is.
00:57:29Season of spice, please.
00:57:43Hey, Kevin.
00:57:45Greg!
00:57:46Great sweater.
00:57:48Oh, thanks, thanks.
00:57:50I never could resist an ugly sweater contest.
00:57:52Have you tried season of spice yet?
00:57:55Yeah, no.
00:57:57Not yet.
00:57:59Happy holiday is going to have some serious competition at the brewski event.
00:58:03Here, let me get you one.
00:58:05A season of spice, please, for my very good friend here on the house.
00:58:11Thank you, sir.
00:58:17Mmm, so what do you think?
00:58:21You know, I think it tastes exactly like, uh,
00:58:23like the kind of beer you want at the holidays.
00:58:27I'm so glad you think so.
00:58:33Why are you pouring happy holiday?
00:58:35How'd you get the recipe?
00:58:36It's not hoppy holiday.
00:58:38It's season of spice.
00:58:39And we got it from Schultz.
00:58:41You should know. You took the order.
00:58:43Oh, that's how you're playing it.
00:58:46You stole the recipe from Joy.
00:58:48What are you talking about?
00:58:50I can almost understand why you'd want to hurt me and my position at Schultz.
00:58:54But why would you want to hurt Mogul Joe's?
00:58:58I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
00:59:00I can't believe you did this.
00:59:25There's only one way to know if there's any funny business going on here.
00:59:29And I won 200 bucks.
00:59:31Nice.
00:59:37Thank you.
00:59:49See?
00:59:51I can't even taste the pine.
00:59:53The only thing that's different is the name.
00:59:55Question is, what do we do about it?
00:59:58Zach knew about the secret ingredient.
01:00:00And he was there last night at the ugly sweater contest.
01:00:05No, he wouldn't...
01:00:10Woody?
01:00:14Bob, the only thing different is the name.
01:00:16What, do you think this is the first holiday-themed craft beer that's ever been brewed?
01:00:20It is for Schultz.
01:00:22You know as well as anybody.
01:00:23We've been losing market share to craft beers for too long now.
01:00:27Bob, I tasted it.
01:00:28It's the identical recipe.
01:00:30Why does this matter so much to you?
01:00:32Because it's my reputation on the line.
01:00:34And I thought we'd be better than stealing Happy Holiday from Mogul Joe's.
01:00:38Nobody stole anything.
01:00:40The recipe came to us from a reliable source.
01:00:43If it is who I think it is, it's personal.
01:00:45Probably illegal.
01:00:47Do you have any proof of this?
01:00:49No, but I don't need proof.
01:00:50Then you shouldn't be hurling accusations at your best customer.
01:00:58Hey.
01:01:00Joy.
01:01:01How could you do this? It's our recipe.
01:01:03I know. I tasted it.
01:01:05No one knew the secret ingredient except for you, Zach.
01:01:08You gave me your word.
01:01:10Wait.
01:01:11How could you possibly think I'd have anything to do with it?
01:01:14Because there is no other explanation.
01:01:17Joy, I care about you.
01:01:19Your mom, Mogul Joe's?
01:01:22What possible reason would I have to hurt you?
01:01:24This is just like Greg.
01:01:26All over again, he betrayed my dad's trust to get ahead in business.
01:01:29And you are doing the exact same thing.
01:01:34Joy.
01:01:51Hey.
01:01:54What are you doing?
01:01:57No.
01:01:58No, you can't take that one down.
01:02:00No, I was going to frame it.
01:02:03Oh.
01:02:05I see.
01:02:10I don't know what we're going to do.
01:02:12Yeah, I know.
01:02:14I know.
01:02:17Any progress on Hoppy Gate?
01:02:19No, Zach denies it, but he's the only one who had means and opportunity.
01:02:23But where's the motive?
01:02:25I don't know.
01:02:26If you ask me, there's no way Zach had anything to do with this, but Greg didn't.
01:02:32I'd say look what the cat dragged in, but cats have better taste.
01:02:38A little quiet in here, isn't it?
01:02:40What's up?
01:02:42You know exactly what's up, Greg.
01:02:44Yeah.
01:02:46Hoppy Holiday has some serious competition for the Brewski Prize.
01:02:49Wait, is Schultz entering Season of Spice?
01:02:52Wait, is Schultz entering Season of Spice?
01:02:54They're not even a craft brewery.
01:02:56They are now.
01:02:58Didn't Zach tell you?
01:03:00He's their new craft brew guy.
01:03:04He's also the one you might want to start accusing.
01:03:06Not me.
01:03:08It's my recipe.
01:03:09Look, I came to offer you a lifeline.
01:03:13We'll buy Joe's.
01:03:15That's if I can convince Frosty's ownership.
01:03:18They're still mad you turned them down.
01:03:21They're not used to hearing no.
01:03:23They better get used to it, because there is absolutely...
01:03:25We'd like to hear their offer.
01:03:28We don't have a choice, Joy.
01:03:32Why don't you and your ownership team come back with a firm offer in hand?
01:03:35Okay.
01:03:37Well, see you tomorrow night for the big announcement of the contest winner at Frosty's.
01:03:45May the best beer win.
01:03:52How could you?
01:03:54How could I not?
01:04:05Joy?
01:04:11I have been right here by your side for the entire ride.
01:04:16And there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed about.
01:04:21We've done everything we could to keep Mogul Joe's afloat.
01:04:27But it's not just that, is it?
01:04:33I just can't believe I let Zack play me like that.
01:04:36I've already been through this once with Greg.
01:04:40Play you?
01:04:42Nobody else could have done it.
01:04:44The only ones who were back here with the recipe were Greg and Zack, as much as I want it to be Greg.
01:04:49It wasn't him.
01:04:50How do you know?
01:04:52Because this recipe doesn't include the secret ingredient.
01:04:56Even if Greg saw this when he was back here, he wouldn't know about the pine.
01:05:04Everyone would sense it, but not know exactly what it was.
01:05:08Like Christmas magic.
01:05:09Exactly.
01:05:12Zack's the only one besides us who knew what it was.
01:05:17What if I told you the secret ingredient wasn't so secret?
01:05:22What?
01:05:23The other night when Greg was here, Kevin may have inadvertently let the cat out of the bag.
01:05:31He didn't mean any harm by it.
01:05:33We were busy and he just kind of let it slip.
01:05:38What?
01:05:39Oh, Mom.
01:05:42Oh, no.
01:05:43Thank you for telling me.
01:05:45I wish that you would have told me sooner.
01:05:47I have to go.
01:05:57Amy, you know the guy who always sits there?
01:05:59Have you seen him?
01:06:07Hey, this is Zack.
01:06:08Leave a message after the tone.
01:06:12Zack, where are you?
01:06:14Have you gone to Colorado already?
01:06:15Why aren't you picking up?
01:06:16Please call me back.
01:06:18Bye.
01:06:21Lucy!
01:06:22Lucy, you know the tall guy that I've been skiing with, Zack?
01:06:25Have you seen him today?
01:06:26Is he skiing?
01:06:27Nope, haven't seen him.
01:06:28I could check the ticket scans if you want.
01:06:31No, no, that's okay.
01:06:32Thank you.
01:06:34Oh, man, not again.
01:06:39That'll be Greg's problem soon enough.
01:06:45I tried everything I could think of, Pops.
01:06:49And it turns out it worked.
01:06:53People really love...
01:06:54people really love...
01:06:56people really love...
01:06:58people really love...
01:07:00people really love...
01:07:02people really love...
01:07:03happy holiday IPA just like you thought they would.
01:07:08The only thing that...
01:07:11didn't work was my judgment.
01:07:15The whole thing backfired.
01:07:17And I drove away a guy that...
01:07:21really cared about.
01:07:25He did nothing wrong.
01:07:26He just tried to help, but...
01:07:28now he's gone and...
01:07:32Oh, no, I'm not falling for that again.
01:07:39Am I really supposed to believe that Zach's not on his way to Colorado as fast as he could get there?
01:07:46Ha! It was a loose wire. I just re-taped it. It should be...
01:07:50Oh, great. Yeah. What was I thinking, believing in Christmas magic?
01:07:56Well, there's plenty of magic in the world.
01:08:00Especially at Christmas time.
01:08:15Come in.
01:08:19Zach, what are you doing here? You've got a lot of seasoned spices to sell.
01:08:23That's what I want to talk to you about. We're making a huge mistake selling it.
01:08:27The recipe was stolen.
01:08:29Why would you think that?
01:08:31Here. Look at this.
01:08:36This was taken the night after Happy Holiday's first brew.
01:08:39I know Greg saw that recipe on the wall.
01:08:42Look. I bet he brought you seasoned spice, what, December 12th?
01:08:47Compare the two. I guarantee they're identical.
01:08:54Actually, Zach, they're not.
01:08:58It's missing a key ingredient that makes ours special.
01:09:02Yeah, pine.
01:09:04How did you...
01:09:06Of course.
01:09:08Look, you can't damage our reputation by spreading rumors.
01:09:12It's not a rumor, Bob. The recipe was stolen.
01:09:16Here. Taste it.
01:09:20Then you have two choices.
01:09:22One, right thing to do.
01:09:26Two, a resignation.
01:09:32Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few runs to take with my dad.
01:09:37I'm sorry.
01:09:40Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a few runs to take with my dad.
01:10:04Hello?
01:10:06Greg?
01:10:10Joy, come on in. Have a seat.
01:10:15Let me get you a beer.
01:10:17Sure, why not?
01:10:22Where's Mary?
01:10:24She's on her way.
01:10:30I was surprised to get her call.
01:10:32Well, the Christmas miracle we were hoping for never came.
01:10:35I don't know.
01:10:37You could still win the competition tonight.
01:10:39Really, Greg?
01:10:51Let me go get the paperwork.
01:11:07Come on.
01:11:26Honestly, it's more than Muggles is worth,
01:11:28but I wanted to be sure you and your mom were taken care of.
01:11:33See? I'm not such a bad guy after all.
01:11:41Cheers.
01:11:49Pretty good, huh?
01:11:51Is there something that you'd like to tell me about the Season of Spice recipe?
01:11:56I don't know what to say.
01:11:58It may taste similar to yours, but so do all seasonal IPAs.
01:12:04I can't sign that until Mary gets here.
01:12:09Actually, I forgot my phone.
01:12:12Could you text her and find out where she's at?
01:12:14Sure.
01:12:23You know what? Just for old times' sake, let's take a selfie.
01:12:27Okay.
01:12:29Cheers.
01:12:35Wow.
01:12:37That's a really good one.
01:12:39I'm going to send it to myself.
01:12:41I mean, I can do that.
01:12:43Well, well, well.
01:12:47What's this?
01:12:52That is not what you think it is.
01:12:54You knew the secret ingredient was pine. I know you did.
01:12:58I can explain.
01:13:00Don't bother. Just do the right thing, Greg.
01:13:03And by the way, you're drinking Hoppy Holiday.
01:13:19So?
01:13:21How'd it go?
01:13:23Just like we planned.
01:13:25Yay.
01:13:31It's almost last year. Can you drop me at the ski area?
01:13:34You got it.
01:13:46That was awesome.
01:13:48You were making some really nice turns.
01:13:50Thanks, Dad.
01:13:52How about one more run?
01:13:53Sure, why not?
01:14:00Let's go.
01:14:01Okay.
01:14:19Thanks, Mom.
01:14:22You're welcome.
01:14:28Nick of time, Zach.
01:14:29Yeah. Hey, Lucy, this is my dad.
01:14:31Nice to meet you.
01:14:33If you see Joy, can you tell her we're up on sleigh ride?
01:14:39Tough one.
01:14:40Yeah.
01:14:42Zach!
01:14:49Zach!
01:14:56Sorry, Joy.
01:15:00Oh, no.
01:15:01Lucy, you gotta let me on, please.
01:15:03Can't. Rules are rules.
01:15:05Well, what about promises?
01:15:07I promised Zach that I would ride last chair with him.
01:15:09I can't stand him up.
01:15:11He's skiing with his dad.
01:15:14Oh, that explains it.
01:15:16Lucy, come on.
01:15:18Ethan would let me.
01:15:20You gotta make an exception.
01:15:22I'm sorry. I really am.
01:15:24But last chair's already gone up.
01:15:27Lucy, I wasn't looking for love, but it found me anyway.
01:15:31In the spirit of giving this Christmas, please,
01:15:34you have to let me on after last chair.
01:15:37You go up there and tell that man how you feel.
01:15:41Thank you, Lifty Lucy. I love you. Merry Christmas.
01:15:44Save it for Zach.
01:15:54Zach!
01:15:56Zach!
01:16:07Hey.
01:16:09Hey.
01:16:11I'm glad I caught you. Lucy almost didn't let me up.
01:16:13Joy.
01:16:15This is my dad, Nathaniel Chase.
01:16:17Nice to meet you, Joy. I've heard a lot about you.
01:16:20Likewise. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Chase.
01:16:23Thanks for getting Zach on the mountain.
01:16:26Greg stole the recipe.
01:16:28I know.
01:16:30I accused you of something that you never could have done because I was scared.
01:16:34I'm so sorry, Zach.
01:16:36Will you please forgive me?
01:16:38Hey, Dad, we'll meet you at the bottom.
01:16:45Will you forgive me?
01:16:48I've got an idea.
01:16:50Let's race to the bottom.
01:16:52Loser has to forgive the winner.
01:16:55Sure. I'll give you a head start.
01:16:59Welcome, everybody.
01:17:01On behalf of Frosties, we're so glad you're all here tonight
01:17:04for our inaugural Schultz Christmas Brewski Competition.
01:17:12Thank you to our judges,
01:17:14who had the unenviable task of tasting more than 50 beer entries
01:17:18from all over the state.
01:17:20Thank you, judges.
01:17:23Okay. As we all know,
01:17:25Okay. As we all know,
01:17:27the three finalists are
01:17:29Holly Jolly IPA from Green Mountain Brewing.
01:17:37Poppy Holiday IPA from Mogul Joes.
01:17:44And Season of Spice from Schultz Brewing Company.
01:17:48Now, please welcome Bob Salamano,
01:17:51Regional Vice President of Schultz Brewing,
01:17:53to announce the winner.
01:17:57Thank you, and thank you to Frosties for hosting this event.
01:18:02Before I announce the winner,
01:18:05I regret to inform you that we at Schultz
01:18:08have discontinued Season of Spice
01:18:11and withdrawn our interest in the competition.
01:18:14What?
01:18:16Seems there was some question of the provenance of the recipe.
01:18:22So, without further ado,
01:18:24the winner of the first annual Brewski Competition
01:18:28and an East Coast distribution contract
01:18:31with Schultz Brewing Company is...
01:18:45Poppy Holiday!
01:19:03We did it! We did it! We did it!
01:19:05Congratulations. You did it.
01:19:07I couldn't have done it without you.
01:19:09Get up there.
01:19:15Congratulations.
01:19:17Thank you so much, Mr. Salamano,
01:19:19but I think we're going to have to turn down that distribution deal.
01:19:23But why?
01:19:24Well, now that we're an award-winning beer,
01:19:27I think that we'd rather market ourselves
01:19:29the old-school, grassroots kind of way.
01:19:34This one's for you, Joe.
01:19:45On a midnight clear
01:19:49That glorious song of old
01:19:54Do you think they'll still come?
01:19:56Of course they will. It's still early.
01:20:02While we got a sec, I have something for the both of you.
01:20:06What? Kevin! You shouldn't have.
01:20:08These are for you. Merry Christmas.
01:20:11Thank you, Kevin. But what in the world?
01:20:15It's from the Gerards and Chamonix.
01:20:23They want to be honorary members of the Mug Club
01:20:26and they enclosed a very generous donation.
01:20:30I reached out to all of your friends from around the world
01:20:34and I couldn't believe the amount of responses I got back.
01:20:38It's from Jack and Amelia in Australia.
01:20:41You know, from the second I walked through those doors,
01:20:44you guys have always treated me like family.
01:20:47And I want you to know how many people feel that, too.
01:20:51Thank you, Kevin. That's a very wonderful gift.
01:20:58Thank you.
01:21:02Merry Christmas!
01:21:04You made it!
01:21:06Where else would we celebrate?
01:21:08We brought a little something for the kids.
01:21:10Well, thank you, Mr. Chase.
01:21:11Please call me Nathaniel.
01:21:13Merry Christmas.
01:21:14Hey! Merry Christmas.
01:21:16Hey, Mary.
01:21:18Hey, that was really brave turning down the distribution deal.
01:21:22I had to stay true to myself and to my dad's memory.
01:21:25Thanks to you, I think we're going to be okay.
01:21:28Actually, thanks to my dad.
01:21:31Remember that little interview we did?
01:21:33He might have helped boost the views.
01:21:35He runs craftbrew.biz.
01:21:38You're kidding.
01:21:40Thank you.
01:21:44Hi, Mary.
01:21:46Hey, Ethan! Lucy! You made it!
01:21:49For sure! It wouldn't be Christmas without Christmas at Joe's.
01:21:54Seriously?
01:21:55You're not welcome here, man.
01:21:57He's welcome. Everybody is welcome on Christmas Day.
01:22:01I'm just here to honor Joe's memory and to give something to the kids.
01:22:05Thank you, Greg.
01:22:08You're welcome.
01:22:14I just want you to know how sorry I am for what I did.
01:22:18I dishonored you, this place, and the memory of Mogul Joe.
01:22:23Greg.
01:22:25You can stay.
01:22:27I can't.
01:22:28No, seriously.
01:22:33We forgive you.
01:22:35Why?
01:22:37Because it's Christmas.
01:22:38It's the best time for forgiveness.
01:22:40Yeah.
01:22:43Merry Christmas, Greg.
01:22:45Merry Christmas.
01:22:47See? I told you.
01:22:49It wouldn't be Christmas without Christmas at Joe's.
01:22:53Kevin, I need a beer.
01:22:54Way ahead of you, Joey.
01:22:57To Joe.
01:22:58To Joe.
01:22:59Oh, and to all of you. Merry Christmas.
01:23:02Merry Christmas, guys.
01:23:07Oh, yeah.
01:23:08Thank you.
01:23:12What about your fancy job at Denver?
01:23:14I decided to apply for jobs at Maple Glen.
01:23:19You're hired.
01:23:37Merry Christmas.
