00:00Built in 1925, Fire Station 5 was a two-story building that housed young firefighters for 60 years.
00:09As the city grew, the trucks got bigger. It was decommissioned in 1986, and then the building started rotting away.
00:17Pigeons in the attic, the roof caved in, things like that.
00:22After Dominique bought the long-neglected station in 2007, the recession hit, and he had to do most of the restoration himself.
00:30It was challenging, but I knew about construction.
00:35Dominique spent the next 10 years personally reconstructing this historic building, starting with fresh new bones.
00:42They exposed trusses because I had to put a new roof in the building.
00:46I left some spots open because people were like, oh, you didn't finish it. No, it's finished.
00:50So this way you would say it's not finished.
