00:05Tony Khan accuses WWE of sabotaging AEW and more.

00:10I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.

00:20Before I get into the top stories, though, there's been an unfortunate update coming

00:23out of AEW's Blood and Guts match from Wednesday night.

00:27It's a hardcore match, with many dangerous spots.

00:29Just ask Santana, who injured his ACL in 2022 and was out for 14 months.

00:34So it's no surprise that Okada has shared this picture on his Instagram.

00:39A serious arm injury from the Swerve Strickland staple gun finger spot.

00:44He's not hardcore.

00:48A bit of lighthearted fun there, because now we've got to talk about Brock Lesnar.

00:54Lesnar was reportedly referenced in Janelle Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon back

00:57in January.

00:58WWE quickly removed him from their WrestleMania plans, where he was reportedly Gunther's

01:03original opponent.

01:04Wrestling Observer Radio has previously speculated that WWE is waiting for the Grant lawsuit

01:09to blow over before bringing Lesnar back.

01:12And now MailOnline have asked Triple H in an interview about that potential, controversial

01:17return.

01:18You'd have to ask Brock Lesnar that.

01:21Brock does his own thing.

01:22So he's up in Canada, I'm sure, watching his kids play hockey and enjoying life.

01:27If and when he decides that he would like to do something, we'd be open to the conversation.

01:32But we'll see.

01:33SCScoops have reported in May that a Lesnar return has to be cleared by WWE's legal

01:38department first, as WWE is also a named defendant in the Janelle Grant lawsuit.

01:43As of the 31st May, that hadn't happened.

01:46They also noted that there was no movement on Brock's side to come back either.

01:50Brock has remained on WWE's active roster page throughout all of this, despite incorrect

01:55rumours he was removed and re-added in recent months.

01:58There has also been an update on Grant's lawsuit.

02:00The last development came in mid-June, when the action was put on pause because the Department

02:05of Justice requested to continue their federal investigation into Vince in what's called

02:10a stay.

02:11But now McMahon's lawyer has issued a statement to WrestleNomics, saying,

02:15Ms. Grant immediately violated the stay order seeking one-sided discovery for her own benefit.

02:21This is presumably in relation to Grant's attorney recently submitting a pre-action

02:25discovery petition to a doctor they claim treated WWE employees and talent, as they

02:30are seeking Grant's medical records from that time.

02:33Vince's name also came up at San Diego Comic Con yesterday, during an interview between

02:37CM Punk and Denise Salcedo.

02:41She asked Punk whether there was a specific moment that made him realise he wanted to

02:45return to WWE.

02:47Punk said there were a lot of things that had to align for him, but McMahon's departure

02:51was one of the biggest.

02:53Vince being out of the picture I think probably illuminated the way.

02:56I think that might have been one of the biggest things, and that's both ways for everybody

03:01who's going to obviously sensationalise a headline.

03:03It wasn't me, it wasn't him.

03:05It was just there's a lot of history there, and all of a sudden one of us is removed from

03:09the equation, and I think it changed a lot of things.

03:13Punk of course returned to WWE in November 2023, when Vince was actually still TKO's

03:18executive chairman.

03:19But McMahon had found himself isolated from WWE when Ariy Emanuel reportedly gave complete

03:24creative control to Triple H. Punk is therefore most likely talking about his own history

03:29of creative frustrations with Vince here, so reports that McMahon was no longer creatively

03:34running WWE was what finally made Punk consider a return.

03:39But how long did he agree to return for?

03:42It's recently been reported that Punk is currently in the process of restructuring

03:46his WWE deal.

03:47A boo of WrestlePurists first broke the news, saying it was about money and contract length,

03:52with the long-term plan for Punk to slow it down and just run NXT.

03:56Essentially, Punk wants to be with WWE forever.

04:04But then CM Punk himself implied these reports were incorrect, posting the following quote

04:08on Instagram.

04:09I used to rush to defend myself against false accusations, but now I watch to see who believes

04:14it so I know who to cut off first.

04:17Then things got even more confusing.

04:19Wrestling Observer Radio then reported the whole story is overblown, as Punk only had

04:23a short-term deal when he came in, so both sides are now simply talking about the next

04:27contract.

04:28But PWInsider claims Punk signed a three-year deal back in November 2023, so he's there

04:34until 2026.

04:36They also report it was actually WWE who approached Punk about a new contract, because they want

04:41to lock in a quote, bigger deal.

04:44One thing that all the reports do seem to agree on, though, is how happy everyone is.

04:50Regarding the recent CM Punk news, a source tells me the company is extremely happy with

04:55Punk's attitude, commitment, drawing power, both TV numbers and social media views, and

05:00big merchandise sales.

05:02It's safe to say they want to continue this momentum for as long as possible.

05:06Which is great, but I do feel like I should point out that Punk can sometimes get grumpy

05:11and sour on things he has previously said he commits to for the rest of his life, so

05:15let's just do all we can to not piss him off.

05:20Continuing his tactic of playing it straight on WWE TV, but then going hard on shoot references

05:24on social media, Drew McIntyre has posted possibly the most inflammatory image during

05:30his feud with CM Punk.

05:32A photo of him with the scapegoat Jack Perry, and the caption, it's a real photo, cry

05:40us a river.

05:41This is a reference to Punk and Perry's backstage altercation following last year's

05:45All In show, which was prompted by Perry mocking Punk with his cry me a river line, which led

05:50to Punk being terminated with cause from AEW.

05:54Given that this looks like a recent photo of Perry with his heel scapegoat look, it's

05:59Drew took the photo on Wednesday, as AEW Blood and Guts was in Nashville, where he lives.

06:04Not to miss a chance to hate on Punk, his other long-term enemy, KENTA, whom Punk took

06:09the GTS move from, reposted that image with his own smiling face.

06:13It's like the Avengers, of wrestlers who hate Punk.

06:16But then McIntyre deleted the post, which led many to believe he had gone too far.

06:21Perhaps WWE told him to take it down, as it showed a current AEW star, or maybe Punk himself,

06:27and complained.

06:28Turns out, according to Worked Wrestling, it was all a good old fashioned Worky McWorkface.

06:33While Drew McIntyre deleted his photo with Jack Perry, there is zero concern of any backstage

06:38heat.

06:39McIntyre and CM Punk are working closely to craft their feud, and all references to past

06:44AEW or backstage issues have been given the green light by Punk ahead of time.

06:49I'll tell you where the real heat is, though.

08:20Because behind those clouds is Triple H and Nick Khan's secret Sky Fortress.

08:25AEW is currently in the most important period in its history, trying to negotiate their

08:30next long-term TV deal.

08:32Failure to get the right kind of agreement could seriously jeopardise the promotion's

08:36very existence.

08:37So Triple H, allegedly, is telling people behind AEW's back, I've heard Tony Khan

08:42has a really bad deal, and he sits down when he pees.

08:48On the media call promoting Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor show today, Tony Khan

08:52said he'd been informed that WWE's PR team calls people to talk about AEW and their potential

08:58new TV deal.

08:59I don't know why WWE is telling people about our media rights deal.

09:03I don't know whether it's any of their business.

09:05I don't really understand why WWE PR calls people and talks about my business.

09:11WWE PR is telling people that the deal is done, and that the deal is done at the same

09:15level that it was going to be on our previous deal.

09:18That's not the case.

09:19It's none of their business.

09:21I think WWE PR really gets involved in a lot of things they shouldn't get involved in.

09:26But WWE isn't just burying AEW's TV contract behind their back.

09:31They're also trying to swoop in and steal their most valuable overseas territory.

09:36Under Mayor Sadiq Khan oddly ran on a re-election ticket of bringing WrestleMania to the city,

09:41to which Triple H replied at the time, let's talk.

09:44And talk they now have, as Triple H and Nick Khan have had a surprise meeting with Sadiq

09:49Khan.

09:50There are now three different people with the surname Khan in this section of the video,

09:54with Mayor Khan telling the Daily Star,

09:56It's exciting to be working with the WWE team.

09:59The meeting was really productive and talks will continue about how we could turn our

10:03ambition into a reality.

10:06The article also showed Leveque presenting the Mayor with the tiniest WWE Championship

10:12It's like they're both ribbing him.
