00:35this weekend and Cora was still a lame-duck my guess is there would be many
00:39people in the Yankees organization really salivating over the prospect of
00:43having Cora there and it's interesting I heard Francesca has a podcast now and it
00:50popped up on my YouTube feed yesterday and the the natives are saying almost
00:55exactly what we're saying in New York about the Steinbrenner family is what
01:00we're saying about the Henry's they only care about a full stadium yeah they're
01:03not as invested in the day-to-day operation of the team if George
01:06Steinbrenner was still alive people would be fired after the Yankees go on
01:100-4 against the Mets this year they have had a really rough go of it I
01:14don't think they've won a series at home in over a month so it'll be interesting
01:18this weekend obviously a huge series and Sam Kennedy a quick note we mentioned
01:23earlier earlier in the show but he spoke with mass live following Craig Breslow's
01:27interview with us sort of trying to minimize expectations about the deadline
01:34saying that you require a trade partner and that you know we don't want to say
01:38things that don't come to fruition I don't was he is he tamponing it tamp
01:45down yeah the expectations are I thought Craig Breslow yesterday was the best
01:51that he's ever been on this show like he was open and said they're gonna add and
01:58said so he's put himself in a position where if they don't do something that is
02:04somewhat significant then he's out there and on the record saying that they need
02:11to add to this team so I was happy to hear that yesterday from Craig Breslow I
02:16also thought it was very honest of him to say that the reason that a deal
02:21didn't get done between core and the Red Sox before the season and now was the
02:25fact that they both needed to feel each other out and see if they if they liked
02:29each other if they liked working with each other I don't think a lot of people
02:33would admit to that I think that they try to paint a picture teams try to
02:36paint a picture that everybody's you know best friends off the bat and that's
02:40a real working relationship that you have to work on and make sure that it's
02:43good for the long term three years a long time for the two of them so I

03:29like a good manager and he wouldn't even remember he didn't you and you made a
03:33point after to say why why wouldn't you just say of course we want him here like
03:37he's the best we love him you know I hope it works out so the fact that he
03:41didn't is telling that it took them a long time probably to get on the same
03:45page and I think what you said yesterday is accurate almost as good as my
03:49premonition about you having a good lead was that this does mean he's been given
03:55some assurances that there's going to be investment into the product because the
04:01timing would suggest that Cora believes fully that this organization is gonna do
04:08the right thing the team wanted to get him locked up they could have done this
04:11a month ago or a month from now I really believe that he's been told that they're
04:16going to be adding to this team at this time and that's why he signed well if you
04:21don't add and you're John Henry you're just dumb at this point for pure
04:26business reasons like the Patriots are in flux totally so you have an
04:33opportunity to seize the attention of the region this fall and you know and
04:39you're close and even the Celtics and Bruins both very good team Celtics
04:43reigning champions like outside of the opener when they raise the banner at the
04:47garden like the fall is wide open because the regular seasons for those
04:52two teams is relatively irrelevant also the Celtics don't that when they raise
04:57that banner game one is like October 17 right you're already World Series in the
05:02World Series so I it's a giant opportunity and they're just dumb if
05:08they worry about unless you have to part with I mean we talked about this a
05:12couple weeks ago I guess you have to think about it if you have to part with
05:17the top three top five prospect in your mind I mean Marcelo Mayer is now some
05:27some are calling him the second best prospect in Major League Baseball so I
05:32mean I like I mean I you don't want to be obviously don't want to do that when
05:36it comes to your future but but looking at the Red Sox championship teams Oh for
05:40they traded prospects for Pedro they traded prospects for Kurt Schilling the
05:462017 they traded Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett and Michael you go up and
05:51down their championship teams they have utilized top prospects to bring in
05:57talented players that help them win championships and at no point did
06:01anybody go who should we really have gotten rid of Haley Ramirez Chris sale
06:05closed out game five of the 2018 World Series you traded Kopech and Johan
06:10Moncada for Chris sale does anybody go we should have traded those two guys who
06:15prospects at the time you know what I mean like I just the Red Sox this
06:20weekend let's say they win two or three they win Sunday night to win the series
06:24we head in Monday morning and they make a big deal bringing in you know bringing
06:27back of all the and bringing in you know whomever else I don't know why game dog

06:52Greg Breslow is a guy that's not everything about this show without any
06:58concrete ideas about a point of me telling Craig Breslow who to add you
07:02donkey who do you want game dog I would I listen if Craig Breslow has a great
07:10relationship with Jameson Tyone then hopefully he gets him that's did anybody
07:17sit here saying they need to bring in Kyle Schwarber no we mocked the move it
07:21ended up being a great trade just because we didn't say they should have
07:24trade for Kyle Schwarber doesn't negate the fact that it ended up being a great
07:28trade deadline acquisition like it's not that hard to figure out I mean I I
07:34don't know who's available I'm not privy to these conversations but this weekend
07:39Greg what if the Yankees acquire Tyon Tyone and you don't while they're in
07:43Fenway Park I mean there's going to be an opportunity to second-guess you're
07:47gonna see what guys go for you're gonna be able to compare it to an equivalent
07:50prospect in the Red Sox system and I think the vast majority of Sox fans may
07:54be outside of mayor would sit back and celebrate a team bringing in talent for
07:58a prospect and it would only be good for John Henry or lose the city's losing
08:01the the owner that everybody loves people are falling off the Robert Kraft
08:06bandwagon the Jacobs have always been under scrutiny right the fact that you're
08:10John Henry and a lot of people have been asking for you to do something for a few
08:15years now to do something right now right after getting Alex Cora locked up
08:21for three years win some people back like what's there to lose no and I mean
08:27I the the the road trip performance post all-star break is a little bit alarming
08:33but I think that you can you know maybe blame that on you know bullpen injuries
08:41and just a general you know lack of focus around the all-star break which
08:47seems to happen to this team or at least has happened to this team the last
08:52three out of four years and I think they go to what they went to out of three in
08:56Colorado if Kenley Jansen is there for that X earnings loss they had the I mean
09:00the Saturday night game you know it's not like they got boat race like they
09:05did yesterday every one of these games they were competitive with the Dodgers
09:08and a closed series and you know things fell apart yesterday and in Colorado but
09:13they're arrested they're home they should take two or three this weekend
09:17the Yankees have been struggling and then it gives you a little bit of

11:36if you told me after the injuries right during camp how many pitchers went down
11:42when they started the season from G Alito yeah up and down the line Tristan
11:45Costas missing two months yeah that you'd be seven games over 500 at this
11:50stage of the season I would have signed up for that in a heartbeat who I mean who
