00:00Meanwhile, our dermatologist, Dr. Jeanne, is here to answer some of the questions you sent to our FB page.

00:09Good morning, doctor!

00:11Good morning, Connie, and of course, good morning to all the viewers of Pinoy MD.

00:16This is our first question for you, Dr. Jeanne, from Ramed Aled Zurk.

00:22How can we get rid of varicose veins?

00:25Alright, Ramed!

00:27A lot of people are getting rid of varicose veins.

00:30For some reason, people are so idle.

00:33They're always sitting, not moving.

00:35We really need to move so that the circulation from the legs

00:40goes to the heart, to the blood, and the legs go back.

00:43So, the gold standard of treatment for varicose veins is called sclerotherapy.

00:50Because it's still the cheapest, but it's the most effective.

00:54So, what we do is we inject what's called a sclerosing solution

00:59so that the walls of the veins inside will swell.

01:03And when it swells, those walls will stick together and close.

01:08Ramed, but sometimes, you need to do a duplex scan

01:13to see if there are thrombus or blood clots.

01:19That is a contraindication for sclerotherapy.

01:22So, you need to go to a skilled sclerotherapist,

01:26whether it's a dermatologist or a vascular surgeon,

01:29so that your varicose veins can be properly examined.

01:35Question number 2, Dr. Jean, for you.

01:37The question is from Zoe Gonzalez Cruz.

01:40She's stressed because of a problem with her daughter's head.

01:44She has a lump in her head.

01:46And she has a baby.

01:48So, what's the cure for that?

01:50What we really need to know is what's the cure for that.

01:56There are many things that can be cured.

01:59Sometimes, this is called seborrheic dermatitis.

02:03It can be seborrheic dermatitis, then it gets worse,

02:06and there's a secondary infection.

02:08It can also be what's called folliculitis,

02:11an infection of the hair follicles.

02:13And often, that area gets inflamed.

02:17It can also be a fungal infection.

02:20It should be tested.

02:22It's called skin scraping.

02:24Then, they look at the microscope to see if there are fungal elements.

02:28So, you really need to see a dermatologist

02:31because it depends on your condition.

02:35Do you need antibiotics?

02:36Do you need antifungal?

02:38Do you also need anti-dandruff?

02:40Shampoos?

02:41Or can you also give antihistamine or antibiotics?

02:45There are many things you can do.

02:46So, you go to a dermatologist to check it out and give you the right kit.

03:10is that the right ointment, soap, and toner

03:13for your type of skin

03:15and for your type of acne?

03:18I can see that your acne is hard.

03:21It looks like there are a lot of plugs inside.

03:24Maybe you need to go to a doctor to get an acne facial.

03:28You have to unplug those pores.

03:31Remove the ones that are blocked

03:33so that the right ointment can enter.

03:36I say, the right ointment that should be coming from a dermatologist.

03:41I can see that your skin is a bit rough and dry.

03:45Maybe it's too dry on your skin.

03:50So, we can also give oral medication.

03:54Those oral medications can control the oil production

03:58or sometimes give antibiotics if it's really needed.

04:52that can actually help with acne.

05:12What should I do to prevent ingrown acne?

05:16To prevent ingrown acne,

05:18if it's really painful and you have to do it again and again,

05:22you need to remove it.

05:25It's called nail avulsion.

05:28If it still causes inflammation and infection,

05:32maybe we need to trim the nails

05:35or remove the nails totally.

05:38And of course,

05:39if you're cutting your nails,

05:43don't cut it too deep.

05:46Because if you cut it too deep,

05:48it can grow inside the skin.

05:53That's what will cause inflammation of the skin.

05:56And of course,

05:57you should also use moisturizers

06:01to soften the skin in that area.

06:04But take note,

06:05don't use oils and moisturizers

06:08if you have an active infection.

06:10And of course,

06:11maybe the shoes you're using are really painful,

06:15that's why your ingrown nails need to be cut again and again.
