Leeds reflects on AI

  • last month
A survey suggests AI is making life harder for many, with one particular complaint being AI telephone answering services which can get things wrong. What's your experience with AI been like so far?

00:00I'd rather not see a development in AI because I have a phobia or an anxiety attack with computers
00:06because I was forced to do Python and R coding at university taking a degree and being slower
00:13typing than young'uns, it took forever typing all the code and then you get an error that I don't
00:17understand. It just took so much time every day dealing with AI. Same with phones, I mean I've
00:23applied for jobs and it can take an hour and a half on the phone and then it doesn't do it right
00:28and I just lose it as soon as I talk to a human being who can do it for me. I don't believe it's
00:32the future, I mean it's down to the programming of the computer but it's a nuisance. We've just
00:36been talking, my friend and I, about Sunny which is about AI in Japan and it is interesting how
00:44quickly it's gone because when I was a young man you didn't have anything, you didn't have a
00:48calculator, now you've got your internet, you've got all sorts of semi-automotive sort of things.
00:54It's a good thing I think, lots of ways, lots of things work now.
