Does Mike Florio from Pro Football Talks have it out for the Miami Dolphins? "Special Senior Molehill Correspondent" gets the target flipped on him!
Transcript
00:00Wanted to get your thoughts on this Leroy.
00:01So this is a story from Mike Florio, who I think could best be described
00:05as a Miami Dolphins snitch.
00:08Like, I just always feel like everything he's always got something
00:11that he's trying to, like, expose the Dolphins on, you know?
00:14No, he's on with Joe every Friday and he tries to play the good guy.
00:17But something going on with that pro football talk blog
00:20where that just reeks of Miami Dolphins snitch.
00:24I get to the story.
00:26He says.
00:27Cheat motion is now officially cheating.
00:32And he has gone out here and he has said last year,
00:37a new pre snap technique began to spread throughout the NFL this year.
00:42The NFL is trying to end it.
00:45Some call it speed motion.
00:47Some like 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan call it cheat motion
00:52because it's cheating and officially now it is cheating.
00:57Here is the key sentence added by the NFL rule this year.
01:00Article four, a rule seven article for section two of the official playbook.
01:05Any eligible backfield player who changes his stance
01:08does not have to come to a complete stop prior to the snap,
01:11as long as his actions are not abrupt, false or forward.
01:15Per a source with knowledge of the situation that directly is aimed
01:18at the split second forward motion movement by players in motion.
01:22The Dolphins, 49ers and Rams used this last year.
01:27Um, here, here's the deal.
01:32It's always been a rule.
01:34They just never called it.
01:37When you go in motion.
01:39If you start a forward move.
01:43Then you're in illegal motion, right?
01:45You can always go lateral.
01:48But they would cheat on it by turning up.
01:52So when the inside receiver would go outside,
01:55he would start turning before the ball was snapped.
01:58You never were allowed to do it.
02:00They just never called it.
02:01So now all of a sudden you're making it sound like it's a new rule
02:04when it never was.
02:06All he had to do was go to every team and say, stop doing it.
02:08We're going to start calling.
02:10End of discussion.
02:11It's not cheating. It's not nothing.
02:13They weren't calling it.
02:15Tobacco.
02:16That's where he says Florio.
02:17Typical rat behavior.
02:19So so basically when you notice. Right.
02:24What teams are starting to do is.
02:26You never did.
02:28You never did motion to the same side. Right.
02:31Now that inside guy does that quick motion outside of the receiver
02:35or the outside guy does that quick motion inside. Right.
02:40All they're eliminating is that gentle move forward.
02:44So when he starts to turn his body forward. Right.
02:48Or he moves forward.
02:49That's. That's the only difference.
02:53All they're doing is saying, hey, guys, it's like holding.
02:57We're going to pay more attention to this.
02:59That's all that is.
03:00And it was always a rule.
03:03That's a quote from Kyle Shannon says it looks hard to stop people
03:06like Tyreek Hill and Debo with and stuff with a running start.
03:10It usually is only in the CFL, so it's cool to get them running sideways
03:14and still find a way to hit it vertically.
03:15Kyle Santana had said last October.
03:18Tyreek Hill says it definitely allows us to get the defense off guard in many ways.
03:22He says Flora writes that advantage is now gone.
03:25In theory, the challenge becomes officiating it when it's executed properly.
03:30It happens in a split second before the snap.
03:31Officials have to spot an act before the nanosecond of the moment passes.
03:36The officials presumably will be told to watch for it.
03:38They'll presumably warn the teams about it.
03:40It's frankly surprising that the first sign of change
03:43is coming from the official rule book and not from the coaches players
03:46either complaining about it in new language or celebrating the fact
03:49that they no longer have to defend against it.
03:51That's nasty.
03:51Where it's just it's basically the quick motion.
03:54So the inside guy going quick out, the outside guy coming quick in.
03:58And what they would do is is they start off two yards and turn to one yard.
04:02Right. So that not only is your guy chasing the receiver,
04:08but you can't just get in chase mode because he'll square up.
04:11Right. And that's the whole thing.
04:13It's always been a rule.
04:16To put them to go through all this.
04:19To go through all this.
04:22Just to say, hey, we're enforcing that, enforcing that rule,
04:25that's always been a rule and make it sound that way is ridiculous.
04:30You know what's going to happen, right?
04:32It's going to be a primetime game involved in Miami Dolphins.
04:36They're going to score and they're going to get penalized because of that rule.
04:40Yeah. Or people are going to say, hey, I thought this was
04:43going to get and then they'll complain about it for a week and then it'll get.
04:47It's going to happen. No, it's going to.
04:49I'm going to tell you what, it's going to happen in two plays.
04:50They're going to score a touchdown to play early in the game.
04:52And the coach of the opposing team is going to be drilling it into the referee's
04:56head that, hey, you should call a penalty on that.
04:59And you know what's funny about this, though?
05:00It happened late in the game.
05:01This is one of those situations where if you don't have the talent to do it.
05:06Then your feelings get hurt, right?
05:09Yeah. Doing that to us because you can't do it to them.
05:12If you got cheetah and a chan, I don't know how like.
05:15So so that's what it's going to look like.
05:17That's all it is.
05:18And you kind of and and I kind of would watch a game
05:22and wonder why it wasn't a period of penalty before. Right.
05:26So I know exactly the reason why I've asked myself that a lot.
05:30So I know exactly what it looks like.
05:33Well, it did feel like the first year of McDaniels.
05:35It felt like they were getting called for a legal procedure all the time.
05:38And then they stopped calling it.
05:40So it's it's right.
05:42So so it but less here, let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.
05:48All they should have said was we're going to be enforcing it.
05:52They do it in a lot of sports where they say we've been let you get away with this.
05:56We're not doing it anymore.
05:58And that's all that needed to be said.
06:01That's where Mike Florida would have to write a whole article on.
06:04It is ridiculous.
06:05That's what Florio's website shouldn't be called.
06:08It should be called Mountain out of a molehill.
06:10That should be the name of his website.
06:12Mountain out of a molehill.
06:13And you're a contributor.
06:14You can do like what he put because who does he put on the article?
06:19Like special correspondent.
06:22That's not fair.
06:23That's not fair.
06:26Correspondent down in Miami.
06:28Brenda Tobin.
06:29Let's give us our information on the Mount Arbol.
06:32He is a statement game.
06:35Mike, me.
06:38We do it again.
06:40That's not the mountain out of the sea.
06:44No, no, no, no.
06:44We do is a mountain, dude.
06:46That is not a molehill.
06:47Hey, back to you.
06:49Don't don't don't don't.
06:51As an aside, when you say molehill, is that actually a hill made out of a mole?
06:55Like, does he like make little dirt?
06:57What does that mean?
06:58I guess it's a molehill or an hill is still smaller than a mountain.
07:03Dade South says Tobin has his face carved in molehill mountain.
07:08Yeah, I just don't like it.
07:13Witcher, you are like the special correspondent from football.
07:18I'm not the only one.
07:20I'm not the only one that thinks you.
07:22Oh, my goodness.
07:24He goes out there and he puts a picture of Towa.
07:28That's the picture on this tweet.
07:30And then it's like the revised rule book has language
07:32ending pre-snap CFL style cheat motion by teams like the Dolphins and 49ers.
07:38Oh, yeah. Well, is it?
07:40So basically it's saying the same guy, right?
07:43The same offense.
07:45They run the same offense. Yeah.
07:48So so yeah, let's a special
07:53special molehill correspondent, a special molehill correspondent.
07:58Wait, we don't know.
08:00Leroy, he's the top senior correspondent.
08:02Oh, senior correspondent, a special molehill correspondent.
08:09Hey, soon as he starts telling one of those stories.
08:12Leroy, you know what week two is.
08:14He's like, hold on, let me get my meal.
08:18Dade South says could be something, could be nothing.
08:21It's literally making literally.
08:25Oh, my goodness.
08:28That is so right.
08:30Nothing. Oh, wait.
08:36Guess what? You know, it's funny.
08:37You can do it on a reflorio and in reverse.
08:39Now we got back on him.
08:41You could you could do that.
08:42But laugh because you're like, oh, damn, that's right.
08:45No, that's not fair.
08:46I'm trying to roll with the punches, but this story has got it out for it.
08:49Now you don't got it out.
08:50You got it out for us.
08:52In fact, I'm telling Joe Demar's that your first question,
08:54you got it out for the Dolphins.
08:57That's special correspondent.
08:58That's a. Oh, my goodness.
