00:00Uh, Mike McDaniel reflecting on the Miami Dolphins win over the Patriots.
00:06And, uh, Mike McDaniel McCoach and saying he thought that they made it close only
00:12because they kept making mistakes.
00:15Here was the Dolphins head coach.
00:16Absolutely going into the game with no, uh, non-negotiably needing to win it.
00:25We felt that way as a team.
00:27Um, and we were able to do that.
00:29However, after the game, you're feeling like, wow, this, this game was really
00:36close and it felt like we'd, we positioned, we did more, um, you know,
00:45even given credit to your opponents at all times, we did more, um, to put
00:50ourselves in the situation for it to be a final drive game than the opponent.
00:55And both things can be true.
00:56You can be satisfied with the result.
00:58You can, um, understand that the results, uh, we, I'm not sure if we would have
01:04won this game, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have won this game three weeks
01:08ago, we needed all the stuff to go on, to, to occur, to, to kind of grow, um,
01:15into being able to win a messy game like this.
01:18However, um, there, there are certain things we will never feel good about our
01:24football, unless we, unless we clean up, you know, errant snaps over somebody's
01:30head, uh, uh, uh, you know, uh, Miss snap on a field goal, a blocked punt, um, you
01:40know, a explosive, uh, run touchdown.
01:43Um, you know, those, those things, procedural stuff, we can control those
01:49things.
01:51Okay.
01:53I have been listening with my mic, make Daniel, um, translator.
02:00Oh, and let me see if I can bring it out.
02:03I'll give it a cliff note to what he said.
02:06Please.
02:07When you run for 180 yards, you're supposed to win a game hands down.
02:11Yep.
02:11That means you're controlling the clock.
02:12You're controlling the game.
02:14You have everything working in your favor and you're
02:16dominating the line of scrimmage.
02:18However, when you have a punt blocked, a missed field goal, a ball snapped 20
02:23feet over somebody's head, you, you're actually keeping the other team in it.
02:32Um, not to mention all the penalties now, it's easy, you know, to sit and
02:42talk about that, but we still won the game and we still know there's a lot
02:46of things we got to correct.
02:48Like things that shouldn't at this point, we should not be correcting.
02:52Like you should not have to go to a center and have him do extra
02:57work because he snapped a punt.
02:59Yeah.
03:01I also don't feel like you need that to happen three or any
03:03mistakes happened three weeks ago.
03:04Well, I would say, I would say this.
03:09The reason why he said that is based on where they were.
03:13Anytime something went bad, it went all the way back.
03:16They couldn't stop it.
03:19Right.
03:19And when you look at those games previously, they couldn't run the
03:23ball, they couldn't throw the ball.
03:24They couldn't do anything.
03:26So this game, they could at least do something.
03:27They could run the football.
03:29Yeah.
03:29But is that, is that based on opponent or is that because they actually clean
03:33things up?
03:35It doesn't because you could argue, but you can look back three weeks.
03:38You can look back to the Seattle game and you've had those same opportunities,
03:42like usually a game where you're winning the turnover margin, like they did in
03:46that game is usually a game you're going to win and they didn't pull it out.
03:49But is that because Seattle's better than them or have they really improved?
03:54Uh, a bit of both, a bit of both.
03:57Um, he's probably also telling them guys, if just not doing name
04:02compatriots, we lose this game.
04:04Probably.
04:05And we have no business even being in a position where, cause I promise you
04:11any NFL team you play, if you rush for 180 yards, 90% of the times you're
04:16going to win the football game.
04:17I just miss it.
04:18Just miss offense.
04:19So for the fact that you run for that many yards and the game's close means
04:22you got some other things that like you need to evaluate, you know, and that's
04:28the, that's the whole, you know, basically what the conversation was is that I'm
04:33looking at these numbers and the game shouldn't have been close when you
04:37dominate the line of scrimmage like that.
04:39I know.
04:40It's just like this guy, this long-winded little rascal, you know, he was, he was
04:44supposed to fix at least the entertainment factor.
04:47We were enjoying, we were having fun, baby.
04:49And now I feel like I'm in the Philbin era again.
04:51I don't want to be in the Philbin era, but it's football like you do it.
04:55I want more fun.
04:57It's football.
04:57I tell you this all the time.
05:00The damn in 2001, the Baltimore Ravens went five weeks without
05:05scoring an offensive touchdown.
05:07And then when the Superbowl.
05:09Oh, I saw the jet up today and they were saying, should we be concerned
05:12about the chiefs offense being five?
05:14And I gave the TV middle fingers, right?
05:17That's see, but that's, that's my point.
05:20Like, when are we like, this is the NFL or this is college.
05:26Now, all that matters.
05:27And the great thing about the playoff and what is done for college football is this.
05:33It's all about winning.
05:35It's not about style points.
05:38So at the end of the year, if you're 11 and one or 12 and one or whatever,
05:43that'll get you in and you don't have to worry about it.
05:46You're going to have a chance at the national championship.
05:50It's not old strength of schedule and this and that, and whatever.
05:54If you're in a major conference and you only have one loss, you
05:56are getting into the playoff.
05:59So like, it's good that we've gotten away from all this style points or whatever.
06:04Guess what?
06:05Everybody who's talking about why our team can't do this or our team can't do
06:10that, or look how bad and look at what Patrick Holmes is doing with it.
06:13They're undefeated.
06:14Who cares?
06:16Like, yeah.
06:17What would the dolphins do for two more wins?
06:19I don't care if they only score 15 points game.
06:21Like, yeah, you gotta get wins the way you can.
06:25The other stuff you have to hope that the team is working
06:28on it and it'll get fixed.
06:30But until then.
06:32Try to win games.
06:33So listen to Harlan last night on the way home.
06:36Oh, this Harlan dude.
06:38They're going to stick us with Mark Sanchez the rest of the year.
06:42We deserve it, dude.
06:44We made our own bed.
06:45Here's more of Mike McDaniel.
06:48He says they have to fix things.
06:49They can control and play better the rest of the year.
06:51A lot of things you can't control in this league.
06:53There's certain things you can.
06:55Um, I, you know, the way we started off today was talking about all of those
07:00things that we can control, um, with absolute certainty.
07:04That's our job to get cleaned up.
07:07And, um, all the while understanding that it is a badge of honor that we
07:13found a way to win that game relative to, you know, the, the, just how we've
07:20found success in the past to win a grimy game that isn't perfect is,
07:25is a step in the right direction.
07:27Now do, um, how, how do we take, can take control over the controllables?
07:35Um, that's the most important thing for us moving forward, building
07:38upon, um, the, the growth of the team.
07:41Um, but we, we have a long ways to go and some, some time to do it.
07:45So we'll, we'll keep chopping wood every day.
07:49Um, what?
07:51Oh, don't even get me started on chop.
07:54Jeez.
07:55Oh God.
07:56Hey, can I just explain something about chop Robinson?
08:01Yeah.
08:02Chop Robinson is being chopped.
08:03Robinson.
08:05Chop Robinson is not doing anything different than he did when he was in
08:11college, they said the same things, man, he gets off the ball, he gets around
08:16the quarterback, but he never gets the quarterback.
08:21So why are you mad at chop Robinson?
08:27Cause he's playing two hand touch with the quarterback again.
08:30You're such a bastard again.
08:32Why are you mad at him when he left college?
08:35That's what everybody said about him.
08:37I'm the good side.
08:38Listen, on the good side of things.
08:39First of all, he's a rookie.
08:41It's five games into his year markers.
08:43Oh, the other good side.
08:44I'd say he was been awesome this year, to be honest with you.
08:46Agba.
08:47Yeah, that's true.
08:49I was been, I was like right off.
08:51He was just hanging, lying in the weeds.
08:53He goes, they'll call back.
08:56Yeah, that was the highest paid player on the team two years ago.
09:00It was Frank's fault that he was phased out of the defense.
09:04They'll want, they'll want me back.
09:06They'll want me back.
09:07That's they always want Agba back.
09:09He's getting interceptions.
09:11He's wreaking havoc, doing good things, man.
09:14Doing good things.
09:15You want to control the controllables, whatever the hell that means.
09:18Did he really wear that win as a badge of honor?
09:20Listen, like coaches love winning ugly games from the standpoint of you can go
09:32in on Monday after a win and get on your players pretty hard, right?
09:39And so, yeah, look, you know, when it'll mysteriously get better, when
09:45all the players start returning.
09:48That would be nice.
09:49That would be nice.
09:50Yeah.
09:51Especially the quarterback.
