We go over Miami Dolphins and Mike McDaniel Mid season report cards from Perkins, Omar Kelly and the Palm Beach Post. We go through the various positions and reveal their Grade... as you can imagine the grades for the Dolphins are less than favorable.

00:00But you see everybody came out with their, uh, all the reporters, they came out with
00:04their, uh, mid season grades. Oh, nothing like a list or, or a grade article to get
00:12you going. It does get me going. It does get, what do you want to hear? Like you want to,
00:17you want to get, you get a position. I can give you grades from everybody on it.
00:20Yes. We're going by position. I want to go quarterback first. Oh yeah. Let's start off
00:26there. All right. This is, uh, let's see, we got the, uh, we got to go F cause they
00:32don't have a backup. No way. Here's what we got. We got Palm beach post, Joe Shad quarterback.
00:39C minus. All right. Minus. This is Dalvin to 24. The NFL and passing yards per game and passing
00:46per play tool has played well in three or four games. Skylar Thompson and Tyler Huntley did not
00:52play well in their four total starts. All right. Pretty fair. I think it's fair. I think it's a
00:57fair grade. It was a fair grade. But, but, but when here's the only blowback I have on this.
01:09When you evaluate the quarterback, you're only evaluating the starter, right? When you start
01:17bringing everybody else into the room position, this position, you know, I got you,
01:22but you know where that is. This is not on tour. I, and I would say this,
01:31let's look at where all of these, this offense came from. Okay.
01:38They couldn't really find a quarterback in
01:42with Washington, although they had Kirk cousins, didn't realize they had a diesel.
01:47Then it went to Atlanta. They had a good quarterback there. Went to Superbowl.
01:52They went to San Fran, but Jimmy Garoppolo, he kept getting hurt. So they kept fluctuating up
01:57and down, up and down, up and down, up and down. Right. Now they have Brock Purdy. As long as
02:03Brock Purdy is in there, that offense is humming. And so now part of that came down to Miami.
02:09This offense is having the same problem in every stop it makes because you need a very specific
02:16quarterback to be able to run the offense. So is it a problem that you can't find a backup
02:26or is the problem you have a offense that's so unique to a select few that if somebody gets hurt,
02:35somebody gets hurt, wherever this offense is run is going to struggle.
02:39I think the thing that, uh, that gives them less of an out though, is
02:43the idea that they thought the guy they had because he was here. Like I would get that if
02:48you know, it was last year. Like Skylar has been here, but it's still again, it's still
02:56doesn't mean that he can do it because you never really know until you get no situations.
03:03Let's get a professor. Omar Kelly's great on the quarterback. He goes tongue of eye low has
03:10been decent 96.7 pass rating when healthy, but decent no longer cuts it. The offense needs big
03:17plays to return better execution in the red zone. I have waited five seasons for tongue of eye low
03:22to prove he's a clutch quarterback delivering game winning performances when the pressure mounts
03:27and only clutch performances will save this season. That being said, gives a better grade
03:32than the Palm beach post. He grades them to see, well, here's the other thing. Look at that.
03:40You know why that is a little skewed because last week he gave a game winning drive,
03:51but then he was off the field game time, game time drive. Okay. But that's still, you know,
03:58like you can change the wording and say, Oh, whenever we needed a score,
04:01he couldn't get it done. If he didn't get it done last week, you see, you understand what
04:05I'm saying? So where I'm, I'm gonna, uh, agree because there's been moments where
04:12they just didn't get it done. It's weird coming right after he actually just did it.
04:20You want to, uh, you want professor perk? Oh yeah. All right. Chris Perkins, his grade for quarterback
04:28F whoa, Burke Tua has been below average backup. Skylar Thompson, Tim Boyle and Stu
04:37Puntley were even worse. They hardly gave the dolphins a chance to win tongue of Iloa who
04:42missed four games after suffering another concussion started in the two biggest games
04:46on the schedule, both against Buffalo. He had three touchdowns, three interceptions in those
04:50two games. Plus he mishandled a snap for safety in a 28, 27 loss to Arizona. Not good.
04:57Okay. A lot of good points. Wow. Hey, listen, I don't want to take, I don't want to take
05:05Burke's class. He's a tough grader. I don't know. I like, and, and, and everybody says I'm gut,
05:12I'm not gullible, but I tend to look at the things as they are right. And, and, and understand that
05:25it's easy to just put this on
05:30a guy because he's the mouthpiece of the team. But the reality is, is that
05:39there's a lot going into this. Now I'd be interested. Here's the grade I would want.
05:47I want the graded offensive line because everybody had questions about the offensive line early in
05:51the season. You want the grades for the offensive line? All right. Yeah. Because I think, I think
05:58offensively, they've probably been better than people thought. I mean, they were, I mean,
06:08they've, they've, they've, they've ended up pretty decent, but they also had some stinkers in there
06:14also had some stinkers in there too.
06:19Anyway, Palm beach posts, Joe Shad, he gives them a C plus.
06:25He says Toronto said ranked by pro football focus as the number one tackle. They rank Aaron Brewer's
06:31number two center, Austin Jackson, Liam Eikenberg, and Rob Jones are ranked 42nd and 58th of their
06:36position. Eikenberg has six penalties. Jackson has four Miami's past protection and run blocking
06:43has improved throughout the season under Butch Barry C plus. Let's see.
06:53Omar Kelly loves the offensive line. He gives them a B
06:58says outside of allowing three quarterback to sustain injuries.
07:01Fair Miami's offensive lines, exceed expectations to Ron Armstead rated the NFL's top offensive
07:06tag of the season, which proves the type of impact this 33 year old can have when healthy
07:11the interior lineman, Robert Jones, Aaron Brewer, Liam Eikenberg are blossoming before our eyes,
07:18which is proof that Butch Barry is a top-notch coach.
07:22Is Butch Barry the top-notch coach or is it just having to run Armstead?
07:26No, because like, I don't understand. They've run, they've run for 150 yards the last three
07:32games. Yeah. That's not a small feat. That's, that's elite as far as running the football.
07:40It's elite. So like, but it's very, but it is, but you would say like, if they've been good
07:48because the performance is the performance, you got to be out there. Right. But I will say they
07:51do have a lot of pen. The penalties on this team are just unbelievable. You're not good enough to
07:57overcome the stupid penalties they have. You're just not perk gives them a B plus a lot of the
08:02same reasons. Dolphins run game is number nine in the league, 133.9 yards per game.
08:08They've only allowed 20 sacks tied for 14. Fewest. It's been a masterful job by Butch
08:14Barry and offensive coordinator, Frank Smith. How about a coaching? Want me coaching grades?
08:21Oh, I would say C minus C minus froggy. I wouldn't, I wouldn't say that. I mean, like
08:31you lose enough guys. Yep. Everybody's going to get a failing grade, even though, you know,
08:38it's not as easy as, as that you lose, you lose both your pass rushers. Now it here's what sucks
08:44about this. How much of that grade has to do with what Greer did to the roster by not signing guys
08:56and not bringing certain guys back. Omar Kelly coaching grade D D Mike McDaniel has a career
09:08record of 22 and 22. That's 500 squares out there, which puts him and Joe Philbin at an identical
09:15spot and head coaching into game 45. Philbin's horrible company to keep, especially when we
09:21consider that McDaniel's teams have far more talent. McDaniel needs to create better game
09:25plans and smarter halftime adjustments and running more disciplined team for the season
09:30and his tenure to get it turned around. I agree with that. I agree with I've, I've,
09:37I've argued that point for two years, the adjustments in the second half, I will say
09:43the last two games they have, they have been competitive in the second half. They haven't
09:48gotten just run over Joe Shad. He gives them C minus. He says, despite injuries, Miami can't
09:57justify losing to Tennessee, Indianapolis, and Arizona. The need to find a way to at least win
10:01one, if not two of those games, the defense has wilted late in games, but have been okay. Overall
10:06Dolphins are six in the NFL and third down defense, only 27, the defensive takeaways.
10:11And at times Miami has been undisciplined. The Dolphins are ninth and penalty yards,
10:15despite one game, fewer than teams with more McDaniel has given his teams a chance in recent
10:22weeks with a commitment to the run, but perhaps could have done more tweaks to the off season and
10:27to the offense and the games that to a missed specialty has been poor. That's an understatement.
10:33The bottom line is two and six is not acceptable to anyone owner, general manager,
10:36coaching staff, players, or fans are challenged to the staff, find a way to go at least six and
10:40three and seven and two on the backend. At that point, a nine and eight record would be commendable.
10:45He gives them a C minus. Not terrible. Not terrible. I mean, professor Perk
10:52F F whoa, dude, Chris Perkins gives them an F perk. He's not playing around. Mike McDaniel is
11:0422 and 22 and is two and six mark. This season is extenuated by a failed plan with a number two
11:12quarterback and number three quarterback and number four quarterback. The penalty issues
11:17point to an undisciplined team. Disappointing. This is the Buffalo. The biggest games on the
11:23schedule point to further failure. Yes. Two of missed four games due to concussion,
11:28but that gets back to the failed plan, which points to McDaniel and Greer, by the way,
11:32the inability to get the ball to Hill and Waddle falls largely on McDaniel.
11:37He gets credit for running the football effectively. The last few games against Buffalo
11:40was, uh, that was McDaniel's best as a play caller overall. However,
11:44this season has been an abject failure to this point. So if you guys are taking courses,
11:53be wary of a professor perk. Now that I disagree with him,
11:58when you were in Barry, did you have that thing? I didn't go to college,
12:02but I think there's a, you can look up your professor, right? Rate, rate my professor.
12:06Did you have that? I didn't have that. I didn't have that. I didn't have that. In fact, you know,
12:10what actually one time, because my, you know, I, I, people said I had a fake major, which I
12:14didn't appreciate, you know, it's not a fake major. New broadcast is not a big major. Uh,
12:20but when I had to take real classes, like you still had to take like a science. Now I wanted
12:25to take the science of criminology, which was like basically forensic files filled up too fast.
12:31So I had to take actual biology. One time I was so hung over that I missed my first lab zero.
12:38Thankfully that guy let you drop the grade, but my, my, my, uh, my grade was looking like
12:43bam's field goal pretended just mostly that class that year until I got to the end, it was able to
12:48drop that zero. It wasn't a great first impression because you didn't show up for lab like, ah,
12:54you know, broadcast me. You don't need me here, baby. What are we doing? Dissecting a frog?
13:03Oh, girl. Hey, I wouldn't, I didn't do it either in high school.
13:12This is disgusting. Yeah. Yeah. No, never, uh, never had the chance to do not have enough
13:20for you. It'll hurt really would've hurt unless you were going, Oh, this frog looks like cookie.
13:29Hey, wake up cookie.
