00:00A portrait of Bangladesh's Iron Lady lies in tatters a day after she resigned and fled
00:06to neighbouring India.
00:08New Delhi confirmed Sheikh Hasina's presence on its territory and claims it had concerns
00:13over the crackdown regarding the recent unrest across the border.
00:16We repeatedly counseled restraint and urged that the situation be diffused through dialogue.
00:25Further urgings were made to various political forces with whom we were in touch.
00:30While Sheikh Hasina's fate remains up in the air for now, Bangladesh has already started
00:35to turn the page on her 15-year rule.
00:38On Tuesday, Parliament was dissolved by the President and Hasina's arch-rival, the country's
00:43former Prime Minister Khalida Zia, was freed from house arrest.
00:48Student leaders who organised protests, which ultimately led to Hasina's downfall, say they
00:52want Nobel Peace Prize recipient Muhammad Yunus to lead any interim government.
00:58We have decided that an interim government will be formed, headed by the widely acceptable
01:02internationally recognised Nobel laureate, Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
01:07We spoke to Muhammad Yunus.
01:08He has agreed to take this responsibility to save Bangladesh, responding to the call
01:14of the students and the people.
01:1784-year-old Muhammad Yunus spoke with France24 on Monday after Sheikh Hasina had resigned.
01:23He stressed the importance of restoring Bangladesh's democratic credentials, which had been chipped
01:28away at by Hasina.
01:31We want to have a pure democratic system where nobody can interfere with our right to vote,
01:36right to speak, right to rule of law.
01:40While the streets of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka seemed calmer on Tuesday, there remain
01:45fears of further instability following weeks of recent unrest, which resulted in some of
01:50the bloodiest violence since independence.
