Kamara, bumuo ng quad-committee na tututok sa mga krimen na may kaugnayan sa POGO; ex-Pres. Duterte, iimbitahan
Transcript
00:00The Quad Committee formed the Chamber of Investigation on Crimes Related to POGO.
00:06One of the people invited to face the charges of extrajudicial killings is former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:15Here is the story of Mela Lesmoras.
00:19The leader of the Chamber, who has nothing to do with politics, condemned their investigation
00:25on the crimes committed by the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGO.
00:30Now, the judges are looking into the issue.
00:34They formed a Quad Committee to investigate not only POGO crimes
00:39but also illegal drugs and extrajudicial killings
00:44during the administration that they believe are connected to each other.
00:49The Quad Committee includes the House Committee on Human Rights,
00:52the Committee on Public Order and Safety,
00:54the Committee on Dangerous Drugs,
00:55and the Committee on Public Accounts.
00:57They invited to face the charges of extrajudicial killings
01:00is former President Rodrigo Duterte,
01:02who issued an executive order on POGO and launched a war on drugs,
01:08as well as former PNP chief, Senator Ronald de la Rosa.
01:12I believe that our investigation is actually a national security concern.
01:20That's why we agreed to invite the former President
01:25to answer all these questions
01:28because this concerns our national security.
01:32And only he can answer these questions.
01:35This is not politics.
01:36This is not related to political persecution.
01:40We are just doing our job
01:43so that we can fix the government's agencies
01:46and the government's rules
01:48that prohibit people from entering prisons.
01:53The Quad-Com Joint Investigation was scheduled to begin on August 15.
01:57Before it began,
01:59a wrap-up hearing was held by the Committee on Public Order and Safety
02:03and the Committee on Games and Amusements
02:05regarding their first investigation on POGO.
02:08The former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque
02:12and former Chairman Alejandro Tengco were present.
02:14In the middle of the total POGO ban,
02:16the idea emerged here in the House
02:18that the revenue from POGO should be exchanged for a sum of money.
02:23But some congressmen immediately opposed it.
02:27For me, any form of gambling promotes corruption.
02:31Congressman Akop was right
02:35that it is a social ill.
02:38Even if any form of gambling
02:42could provide some resources to the government,
02:45it is still a social ill.
02:47We cannot deny that.
02:49The congressmen, aside from the POGO issue,
02:53continue to focus on other important issues
02:57for the welfare of our countrymen.
