00:00The latest waiting list figures show that right up until the final hour of the Conservative
00:05government, waiting lists were continuing to rise and that's why we've wasted no time
00:09whatsoever getting those waiting lists moving in the right direction by creating the right
00:14conditions. So ending the junior doctor's strike, employing a thousand more GPs this
00:19autumn that have been left unemployed, qualified GPs left unemployed by the last Conservative
00:23government. That will make a big difference. We're also going to make sure we deliver our
00:28first step in our manifesto which was to deliver 40,000 more appointments every week.
00:33We're working actively with the NHS now to scale up that tried and tested method so that
00:38we can start seeing waiting lists come down. I'm not surprised given the way that they
00:42were treated that GPs decided to give the last Conservative government a kick in by
00:48threatening collective action and that was reflected in the ballot result we saw. I think
00:54GPs have also seen from this Labour government a marked difference in the kind of relationship
00:59we want.
