00:09:17He is one of the top stars from Mexico in his World Championship Wrestling debut.

00:09:21And he just nailed Juventud Guerrero, sending him crashing into the steel guardrail.

00:09:29Well, Juventud, he started out good, but that was one heck of a move and

00:09:34a high risk maneuver.

00:09:36La Parca took a long shot.

00:09:37Seems like it paid off.

00:09:38Guerrero getting up slow.

00:09:40You notice he's a little bit bigger than most of the wrestlers that have been

00:09:43coming up to World Championship Wrestling from Mexico.

00:09:45To tell you the truth, I'm not noticing anything.

00:09:46I'm keeping my eye open and his new world odor is really making me sick.

00:09:50Has me a little uncomfortable as well, Larry.

00:10:01I mean, they just come down, they grab microphones on the same frequency.

00:11:23Onto Juventud, Guerrero, both men crashing down to the concrete.

00:11:27I mean, La Parca, talk about a maneuver that could hurt yourself.

00:11:30This guy, he must have jumped 20 feet across there.

00:11:33Of course, the opportunity of a lifetime for both La Parca and

00:11:37Juventud Guerrero, these two wrestlers that we see upcoming this Sunday,

00:11:41live on pay-per-view at World War III.

00:11:44Both men entered in that three ring 60 man battle royal.

00:11:48And the other guys, it's the opportunity of a lifetime.

00:11:51The first crack.

00:11:52One, two, and two on the powerbomb.

00:11:53He couldn't hold him down.

00:11:55But we're talking about the first crack at Hulk Hogan,

00:11:57a chance to break the foundation of the new world order.

00:12:01The man who walks out of World War III, the man who can survive,

00:12:05has that opportunity, Mike.

00:12:06And that's the opportunity, that's the dream of a lifetime.

00:12:10La Parca now trying to get Juventud Guerrero in a upside down surfboard.

00:12:27Yeah, Guerrero was lucky, he got his hands free from that upside down reverse

00:12:32surfboard effect, and that's what enabled him to get out of the hole.

00:12:39That's one, two, and again, La Parca able to kick out at two.

00:12:44And Juventud goes right back to work.

00:12:47The hot rumor in the locker room, Larry, I'm sure you've heard it all afternoon.

00:12:53But the talk of the locker room is that Rowdy Roddy,

00:12:56Piper will be making an appearance tonight on Nitro.

00:12:58We go all the way through to the steel ring post.

00:13:01We do know that Hollywood Hulk Hogan is in the building.

00:13:04Well, I've seen Edward Hulk Hogan in the building.

00:13:07Haven't seen Piper yet, but I heard the same rumors, Mike.

00:13:11So I'm waiting for anything to happen at any moment.

00:13:13We've already seen what the New World Order can do.

00:13:16Of course, Eric Bischoff, quick cover by Juventud, gets one and two.

00:13:25Eric Bischoff has been trying without much success, I guess, to this point,

00:13:30to sign that match of the decade between Hogan and Piper.

00:13:34And hopefully, we'll have some updated information in tonight's broadcast.

00:13:38Yeah, hopefully, we'll have it tonight.

00:13:39But again, you're talking about the biggest match of the century coming up.

00:13:45You got lawyers, you got agents, and you got a two count right here.

00:13:49But again, I believe it's gonna happen.

00:13:51I believe that Bischoff's gonna get this thing signed.

00:13:54Of course, we did see Roddy Piper this past Saturday night on TNT,

00:13:58an invited guest, sitting in the front row at the Cable Ace Awards.

00:14:02Sharp drop kick by Juventud, and again, the cover, two count.

00:14:06So many near falls in this matchup between La Parca and Juventud Guerrero.

00:14:10And Guerrero's trying to wear the bigger man down.

00:14:13Again, I don't know that much about La Parca, but

00:14:15I do know that Guerrero's having a hard time getting that three count.

00:14:18He's not locking his hands, maybe giving up a little too much weight here.

00:14:25He caught him right off the ropes.

00:14:27He knows Guerrero's in, he pushed him off.

00:14:29Juventud shoves La Parca into the corner.

00:14:34Up on top, trying to roll through, gets him, gets one, two.

00:14:39And again, only two, La Parca able to kick out once again.

00:14:42See, Guerrero, he reached back, tried to grab that leg and bring it over.

00:14:45It wasn't long enough to get that extension,

00:14:47pull the legs over the shoulders, and again, easy kick out for La Parca.

00:14:50Of course, upcoming at World War III, it will be Jeff Jarrett in a return

00:14:55grudge match against the Giant, that this Sunday as well.

00:14:59And a match that was just signed, the amazing French-Canadians against

00:15:03the Harlem Heat, with an interesting stipulation that we will talk on later

00:15:07in tonight's broadcast.

00:15:08Juventud drops the elbow, again the cover, one and two.

00:15:12Well, I thought La Parca knocked the wind out of himself when he fell off that thing.

00:15:18Obviously- Inside cradle, one, two, and

00:15:21again, only two, La Parca with that small package.

00:15:26But both these guys gotta get frustrated now.

00:15:27Guerrero, he's gotta get this big man down.

00:15:30The big man, I think he knows Guerrero like a book.

00:15:33He's catching him with all his moves.

00:16:27Nash, laying out six wrestlers in the ring with that chair assault.

00:16:31The Nasty Boys, the Outsiders, and the Faces of Fear upcoming this Sunday

00:16:35in the triangle match with the WCW World Tag Team titles at stake.

00:16:39That at World War III, Sunday on pay-per-view.

00:16:45Up on top, spins around, blocked by La Parca.

00:16:48Juventud going for that spinning top Frankensteiner.

00:16:51Look at that move, covers, one, two, three, and he beat him.

00:17:00Sensational move by La Parca, corkscrew move off the top rope.

00:17:05Crashing down onto Juventud Guerrero and finally getting the three count.

00:17:09Yeah, Juventud Guerrero went through a plethora of moves, got frustrated,

00:17:13couldn't hold La Parca down.

00:17:14But La Parca, seems to me, beat Guerrero in his own game.

00:17:18This guy was all over the place at the same altitude Guerrero lives at.

00:17:24Larry, let's take a look at the slow-mo.

00:17:25Well, look at this, but this guy, he must be 30 feet across the ring.

00:17:31This right here knocked the wind out of Guerrero, and look at this.

00:17:37And he caught Guerrero off guard in his own game, Mike.

00:17:40Very impressive debut for La Parca.

00:17:55And welcome back, everyone, to Monday Nitro.

00:17:58I'm Mike Tenet, substituting for Tony Schiavone alongside Larry Zbysko.

00:18:02Now let's take a video look at the man with the cruiserweight championships.

00:18:08He has eight of them, an opportunity for number nine tonight,

00:18:12the Ultimo Dragon.

00:18:16Of course, Larry, recently in Japan, a tournament

00:18:19was held to unify junior heavyweight and light heavyweight

00:18:22championships from around the world.

00:18:24In WCW, we refer to them as the cruiserweight division.

00:18:28There were eight titles from Japan, Mexico, and England all at stake.

00:18:32And recently, the Ultimo Dragon captured those eight belts, his goal to add.

00:18:37The WCW cruiserweight title gained control of all the cruiserweight

00:18:42championships in the world.

00:18:45Well, unfortunately, his obstacle is Dean Malenko,

00:18:48a man who is very familiar with the Japanese style of wrestling.

00:18:52It's going to be a good one, Mike.

00:18:54Certainly is.

00:18:54And of course, both of these men upcoming at World War III, Larry.

00:18:59In addition to singles competition, they as well

00:19:02will be involved in that 60-man three-ring battle royal.

00:19:06Of course, our broadcast partner, Bobby Heenan,

00:19:09is under the impression that Dean Malenko is actually

00:19:11the man that he's picking to win that battle royal.

00:19:14I'm not sure if he has the size, obviously, as the wrestling ability,

00:19:18but will all that mat technique really pay off in a match like this battle royal?

00:19:23Well, they don't call Bobby the brain for nothing,

00:19:25but he's thinking of a different light here.

00:19:27Don't count the little men out of a situation like this,

00:19:30because number one, the biggest of all men

00:19:34usually become the first target.

00:19:36The majority of guys inside that ring sometimes stick together.

00:19:40They want to eliminate the biggest and the baddest first.

00:19:43A guy like Rey Mysterio Jr., who is small but very fast,

00:19:48may have one of the best chances of surviving just with his movement alone.

00:19:57And Dean Malenko, the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship

00:20:01on his way to the ring.

00:20:02Of course, that title, he recently regained in Las Vegas, Nevada,

00:20:06at Halloween Havoc, when he defeated Rey Mysterio Jr.,

00:20:10ending Rey Jr.'s four-month title reign.

00:20:14Of course, Rey Mysterio Jr. deeply disappointed

00:20:17when he lost that World's Cruiserweight title,

00:20:19but he's obviously focused on not only regaining that,

00:20:21but possibly those other eight championship belts.

00:20:25Boy, look at that pile of belts.

00:20:29And now, let's hear some comments from Rey Mysterio Jr.

00:20:33Dean Malenko, I gotta be really honest with you.

00:20:36You gave me a chance for the Cruiserweight title, and I took it away.

00:20:40I gave you a chance, and you took it away from me.

00:20:43You know what? You're one of the toughest opponents I ever had.

00:20:46But I want to meet with you again.

00:20:48I want to take that belt back and have it around my waist.

00:20:52Rey Mysterio Jr., a man who obviously has his sights set

00:20:56on not only Dean Malenko, but, of course, also Ultimo Dragon,

00:21:00an upcoming at World War III.

00:21:02Dean Malenko scheduled to defend the Cruiserweight title against Psychosis,

00:21:06and we can tell you that Rey Mysterio Jr. will face Ultimo Dragon as well

00:21:10this Sunday in Norfolk, Virginia.

00:21:13All right there. Malenko got caught on the mat off guard,

00:21:16and that's not an easy thing to do with Dean.

00:21:18This guy is a master of mat technique.

00:21:21But again, he's very familiar. Spent a lot of time over in Japan,

00:21:24so should be able to handle himself well.

00:21:26Notice how he blocks the pressure by putting the other foot up.

00:21:31Oh!

00:21:35Of course, should Ultimo Dragon win the Cruiserweight championship,

00:21:40he would face Psychosis upcoming this Sunday live on pay-per-view at World War III.

00:21:46Every time you say World War III, Mike, it gives me goosebumps.

00:21:49Someone is going to get the opportunity.

00:21:51I almost wish it was me to break the foundation of the New World Order.

00:21:55Hulk Hogan must be beat for the heavyweight championship.

00:21:59The New World Order has gone too far already.

00:22:03Of course, the New World Order, an attempted takeover on Saturday

00:22:06at the Cable Ace Awards.

00:22:08Obviously upset that they were unsuccessful out in Hollywood.

00:22:11And tonight they came and brought chairs with them to the ring.

00:22:15And the Nasty Boys as well as the tag team of High Voltage

00:22:18and Ciclope and Galaxy from Mexico felt the wrath of the steel chairs

00:22:22from the Outsiders Hall in Nash.

00:22:24It's getting way out of hand here where announcers are walking off

00:22:28by television broadcast.

00:22:30They're taking advantage of it.

00:22:32But they have a plan to have leadership.

00:22:34Hogan must be defeated.

00:22:36The winner of World War III has an opportunity of a lifetime.

00:22:40And they better succeed at it.

00:22:42And of course, last week on Monday, Nitro, the New World Order

00:22:45demanding their own hour right here on TNT,

00:22:49the hottest program on television.

00:22:51Well, that's just too bad, isn't it? Don't give it to them.

01:12:18And as I look around, I tell you, Bobby, this place is just loaded up with cops.

01:12:23Evidently, the word is down here locally about what's going down in the arena,

01:12:27and there are cops everywhere.

01:12:29Well, there's an awfully tense feeling in the arena tonight.

01:12:33You're right, the police are in full force.

01:12:36Speaking for myself, it was a very uncomfortable situation down at ringside.

01:14:54And we'll find out at World War III who that individual will be.

01:17:51Because he's got in his corner that lovely lady right there,

01:17:57This is truly an international rivalry

01:17:59between Benoit and Guerrero.

01:18:01The wars that they fought in the Orient

01:18:03as well here in the US and WCW.

01:18:06Benoit so focused on the four horsemen situation

01:18:09with the Dungeon of Doom.

01:18:10I don't think, however, he'll be overlooking Guerrero,

01:18:13judging not only by those intense matches

01:18:15that they've had in the past, but also

01:18:17if we remember back just a couple of weeks

01:18:19ago when Eddie Guerrero received that Halliburton briefcase

01:18:23from Chris Benoit.

01:18:24He has not wrestled since that time.

01:18:28Well, he's 100%, we believe.

01:18:31I saw him moving around back in the locker room

01:18:33warming up a couple hours ago.

01:20:23And you know Kevin Sullivan either.

01:20:27Now those are pretty strong words from Kevin Sullivan.

01:20:32you saw a tremendous match up

01:20:35between Kevin Sullivan and Chris Benoit

01:20:38that ended up in the men's room.

01:20:40I think it was the men's room.

01:20:41Men's room, ladies room, whatever.

01:20:43But it was a battle that went all the way up

01:20:45into the rafters.

01:20:46And make no mistake about it,

01:20:47both of these individuals very proud

01:20:50and consider Baltimore to be their home.

01:20:52One, two, and Chris Benoit able to roll

01:20:55that right shoulder.

01:20:56So I expect a similar match up.

01:20:58And I'm just thinking Chris Benoit

01:21:00may be at a disadvantage this Sunday

01:21:02in that 60 man three ring battle royal

01:21:04coming just 24 hours after that rematch

01:21:06with Kevin Sullivan in Baltimore.

01:21:08Yeah, absolutely.

01:21:09It's going to be interesting.

01:21:11Well, you know what's going through Kevin Sullivan's mind?

01:21:13He wants revenge and he's going to take it on Benoit.

01:21:16If you want a seat for that fight tonight,

01:21:18I suggest you get one of those porcelain chairs

01:21:20in the men's room.

01:21:21Because that's where they're going to take it.

01:21:22Well, look at this.

01:21:41He does show his emotions a little bit.

01:21:43But deep down inside, he knows what he has to do to win.

01:21:46And he's not going to lose sight of that.

01:21:49The Four Horsemen certainly looking forward to World War III.

01:21:53Again, interesting here that Benoit continuing to go after the submission.

01:21:57We've seen cross faces, arm bars.

01:22:01We've seen him attack the shoulder.

01:22:03And now he's going after the arm and the neck.

01:22:05You know, people are always asking me,

01:22:07World War III, who does that match favor?

01:22:10A mad wrestler like Benoit or a high flyer like Eddie Guerrero?

01:22:13Basically, it's just luck.

01:22:15You've got to watch everybody.

01:22:16You've got to watch your back.

01:22:17Basically.

01:22:1860 men in there.

01:22:20They want the big one.

01:22:22You've got to watch her.

01:22:23I think a lot depends as well on the point in the match.

01:22:26At the start, when there's 20 men in each ring,

01:22:28obviously that mat technique may not be as important

01:22:31as later on down the line when the numbers thin.

01:22:33Well, and you pick your shot.

01:22:35In an event like World War III, 60 men all going at it.

01:22:38The big guys are going after each other.

01:22:40The smaller guys are ganging up on the bigger athletes.

01:22:42I mean, you pick your shot.

01:22:45It would not be unthinkable for a guy like Benoit or Guerrero,

01:22:48one, two, or even a Mysterio,

01:22:52Conant, to come out as the number one contender.

01:22:55Then again, you've got Luger.

01:22:57You've got Arn Anderson.

01:22:58You've got Steve McMichael.

01:23:00You've got some of the bigger marquee names in the sport.

01:23:03You've got people coming in from all over the world

01:23:05to take part in this.

01:23:07But you get a guy like Rey Mysterio or a guy like Guerrero

01:23:10right here, they like to use that top rope.

01:23:12They like to come off that top rope.

01:23:14What happens if you just shove them backwards?

01:23:16They go all the way to the floor.

01:23:17They're out of it.

01:23:18Maybe out of it wrestling for good.

01:23:19Takes away a lot of that offensive game plan

01:23:21that they're so used to in a singles matchup.

01:23:25And Eddie Guerrero showing the strain and the pain

01:23:28of this contest.

01:23:29He is in there without a question

01:23:31one of the toughest human beings on the planet,

01:23:33that being Chris Benoit.

01:23:35He's aggressive.

01:23:36He's strong.

01:23:37He's fast.

01:23:39And he is really, I guess it's quite obvious,

01:23:42he's going for these submissions because he knows

01:23:44that it was just a few weeks ago that Eddie Guerrero

01:23:47was injured.

01:23:48His back was all messed up.

01:23:49His ribs were taped up.

01:23:50He was in a lot of pain.

01:23:51But it appears to me that Eddie Guerrero has been able

01:23:53to come back from those injuries.

01:23:54And you see how fast he is.

01:23:56I mean, when he initiates a move, he, I mean,

01:23:59he's explosive.

01:24:02I've never seen Guerrero grounded like this.

01:24:04Usually he takes the match to you.

01:24:06He hasn't dominated this match like I thought he would

01:24:08or at least have a 50-50 chance in there.

01:24:11Still a lot to come here on Nitro.

01:24:14Whatever you do, this is a tremendous matchup here,

01:24:17a matchup that can go either way as referee Randy Anderson

01:24:20looking on very closely.

01:24:22I really think that Guerrero is on top of his game here.

01:24:26Benoit has been in some tough situations as of late.

01:24:28He's spending a lot of energy here in the opening moments

01:24:31of this contest.

01:24:32And I think Guerrero is basically doing what

01:24:34Evander Holyfield did to Mike Tyson a few weeks ago.

01:24:37Taking his time, setting his man up, and picking his shots.

01:24:40And that's what I see right now on Eddie Guerrero.

01:24:42Do not count Eddie Guerrero out of this contest.

01:24:47He's got aggressiveness.

01:24:49And he's got an opportunity to go into World War III

01:24:51with a whole lot of momentum.

01:25:57Talking to two good friends of mine,

01:25:58Alan Rucker and Tony Eaton out on the West Coast.

01:26:01Big fans of WCW Monday Night Show.

01:26:04And they said to me the other day that in their opinion,

01:26:07Chris Benoit probably, technically,

01:26:10one of the most gifted wrestlers in the sport today.

01:26:12Mike, would you agree with that?

01:26:13I would definitely agree with Chris Benoit.

01:26:15Not only his mat technique, his high risk moves as well.

01:26:19When he goes for the top rope, he has a well thought out plan.

01:26:22And I think just taking a look at the intensity

01:26:24on the part of these two wrestlers

01:26:26is just a preview of what's in store for this Sunday

01:26:28at World War III as everybody's getting cranked up.

01:26:32Man!

01:26:33Both men hurt on that maneuver.

01:26:37And we've said it a million times,

01:26:39high risk maneuvers are called that for a reason.

01:26:42If you execute flawlessly,

01:26:45then you can put your opponent away very quickly.

01:26:48One, two.

01:26:50But if you're off even by a fraction of an inch,

01:26:52you can bounce your skull off that mat and knock yourself out.

01:26:55And that's just about what Chris Benoit did.

01:26:59You know, you talk about 60 men in that ring.

01:27:01You better get your popcorn for you people

01:27:03that aren't going to make it to the scope.

01:27:04And you better get all your goodies

01:27:06because this thing could go for a long time.

01:27:0860 men in there.

01:27:09You know what they're going for.

01:27:10The opportunity of a lifetime.

01:27:12And can you imagine?

01:27:13Look at this.

01:27:16Right over the top rope.

01:27:18And now Benoit's hurting.

01:27:24with the shot at Hogan's title?

01:27:28that is going to be on that individual?

01:27:30But can you also imagine the response he would get

01:27:33if he's able to defeat Hogan for the WCW,

01:27:35or as he puts it, the NWO World Heavyweight title?

01:27:38What an opportunity.

01:27:40Well, I have a question.

01:27:41I was just taking a look at the 60 participants.

01:27:43What about the NWO?

01:27:45What if someone from the New World Order

01:27:47is successful in the 60-man battle?

01:27:49Well, then they've pretty much got a lock on the situation.

01:27:51But right now, Eddie Guerrero's got a lock on Chris Benoit.

01:27:53You saw a woman outside of the ring.

01:27:55She got involved.

01:27:56Eddie up in a side suplex, takes Benoit down.

01:27:58And that woman, she is frantic.

01:28:00She sees this thing slipping away.

01:28:02And Eddie Guerrero, in the meantime,

01:28:04sees his opportunity to come out of here tonight at Nitro a winner.

01:28:07He moves his way up to the top rope.

01:28:09He's going to come off the top turnbuckle.

01:28:11Again, another high-risk maneuver.

01:28:13And off the top rope.

01:28:14Somersault, nobody home.

01:28:15Guerrero up quickly.

01:28:16He saw it.

01:28:17Jumps up, takes his man over.

01:28:19One, two, three.

01:28:21He got him!

01:28:22He got him.

01:28:23He got him.

01:28:24What a reversal on that roll through by Benoit to gain the victory.

01:28:28Momentum, that's all it was.

01:28:30Eddie Guerrero had so much momentum going into that maneuver

01:28:33that it actually worked against him.

01:28:35That one, Chris Benoit won by the skin of his teeth.

01:28:40And I've got to tell you, we're going to get another look at this.
