00:00The Fat Controllers' engines are proud of how useful they are.
00:04It makes them feel important, but none of them feels more important than Gordon.
00:12Watch out, Gordon wished. You'll get my paint all sooty.
00:16Pulling trucks is a sooty job, T.Sully, but then you wouldn't know.
00:20Of course not, Gordon huffed importantly.
00:23Express engines don't pull trucks. It wouldn't be dignified.
00:28Dinghy fried, Puzzle Percy. What's that?
00:32Dignified, Gordon corrected. It means...
00:36It means someone's too big for his buffers, T.Sulty.
00:40Ta! said Gordon, and he puffed away.
00:47That evening, fog covered the island of Sodor.
00:50Everything slowed down, and soon the docks were packed with waiting trucks.
00:55This caused confusion and delay.
00:57The Fat Controller came to the sheds. He was in a great hurry.
01:01Henry, Thomas and Percy, he said, you must go to the docks immediately.
01:06Yes, sir, they whistled.
01:14Then the Fat Controller turned to the big blue engine.
01:17You too, Gordon, he said.
01:19I need a big engine to take the trucks where they won't be in the way.
01:23Trucks, huffed Gordon. He could not believe what he had heard.
01:28Gordon wasn't happy to be pulling trucks.
01:31He waited impatiently while they were shunted into place.
01:35Hurry up, hurry up, chuffed Gordon crossly.
01:39Why the rush, Gordon, asked Thomas.
01:41If I must pull trucks, then I'll show Sulty how an express engine pulls trucks, Gordon huffed.
01:46Careful, Captain, Sulty tooted. You don't want to get too big for your buffers.
01:53But Gordon ignored Sulty.
02:02The next morning, Gordon raced along with his heavy load.
02:06Now this is how you pull trucks, he puffed.
02:14But the signalman had accidentally left the point switched to the branch line.
02:18Gordon rattled through the junction.
02:22That's strange, he exclaimed. I'm on the branch line.
02:26Oh no, the signalman cried. Express trains aren't supposed to go that way.
02:32But it was too late. Gordon had already raced into the distance.
02:37The old branch line was weak and rusty.
02:41There were signs warning all the trains to go slow.
02:45But Gordon ignored the signs.
02:47I'm an express engine, I don't go slow, he said.
02:50And he went even faster.
02:55The branch line couldn't take his weight and the rails buckled.
03:00Oh, help, Gordon cried as he slid off the tracks.
03:07And into a field.
03:20No one was hurt, but poor Gordon felt very undignified.
03:25What will the fat controller say, he groaned.
03:31He found out soon enough.
03:33Well, Gordon, the fat controller said, you won't show your face again.
03:38I'm not going to show my face, I'm not going to show my face.
03:42I'm not going to show my face, I'm not going to show my face.
03:46Well, Gordon, the fat controller said,
03:49you wanted to show salty a thing or two and you've certainly done that.
03:53You've shown him how silly it is to ignore go slow signs.
03:57Sorry, sir, said Gordon and he let out a sad wheeze of steam.
04:04Gordon was soon repaired and back at the docks ready for work.
04:08But he was very unhappy with himself.
04:11Everyone makes mistakes, said Thomas, even you.
04:15Salty sorry, he teased you, puffed James.
04:19And I'm sorry I was too big for my buffers, chuffed Gordon.
04:24And all the engines gave a jolly toot, even Gordon.
