पेरिस ओलंपिक में एक बार फिर नीरज चोपड़ा का थ्रो ऐतिहासिक रहा। हालांकि, इस बार नीरज चोपड़ा को सिल्वर मेडल मिला है। नीरज की जीत पर उनके परिवार-गांव और पूरे देश में जश्न का माहौल है। नीरज चोपड़ा के गांव में उनके परिजनों और दोस्तों ने मिठाई बांटकर जश्न मनाया। सिल्वर मेडल की खुशी में नीरज की मां ने कहा, "हम लोग बहुत खुश हैं। हमारे लिए यह सिल्वर भी गोल्ड जैसा है। जिसने गोल्ड जीता, वो भी मेरा ही बच्चा है, उसने भी मेहनत की है। उन्होंने कहा, जो भी बच्चे खेल में अपना करियर बनाना चाहते हैं, मैं बस उनसे यही कहूंगी, खूब मेहनत करो और देश का नाम रोशन करो। वहीं नीरज के पिता ने कहा, हर किसी का दिन होता है, फाइनल मुकाबले में पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी का था। नीरज ने देश को सिल्वर मेडल दिलाया। यह हमारे लिए गर्व की बात है। नीरज काफी समय से इंजरी से परेशान है, शायद इसलिए फाइनल में उसे संघर्ष करना पड़ा। वरना अभी तक अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर ऐसा कभी नहीं हुआ कि वो लगातार फाउल कर रहा हो।
