00:00Let's talk a little bit about the Vikings here. Vikings have a new quarterback. It's
00:06J.J. McCarthy, but not yet. It's probably going to be Sam Darnold for a while. I know.
00:11Don't get too excited, kids. I know how much you love the Sam Darnold. It gets you really
00:15fired up about the football season. We've seen Sam Darnold in a lot of places. It's
00:19really amazing how many chances Sam Darnold's getting at different spots. But that is a
00:24big question of, you know, is Justin Jefferson so great he's quarterback proof? Probably.
00:29But it's got to cap his upside. Don't you think, George? At the end of the day, you've
00:33got to look at this and say, sure, Justin Jefferson is still great, but it's going to
00:38be hard to be super elite, I think, with the quarterback play that he has this year. Maybe
00:42you think I'm wrong. He's still a top ten pick. He's still a top five pick, probably.
00:48But I think it's a little crazy to think he's going to be at 1,500 yards again with the
00:52way this offense is set up. What do you think about Jefferson's upside in 2024?
00:57Oh, I agree with you. I mean, if Kirk Cousins was still there, as much as we all hate Kirk
01:00Cousins, yeah, he's the number one overall pick. There's no doubt about that. With Sam
01:04Darnold and eventually McArthur, I mean, I imagine we see the quarterback change after
01:09week five. That's when their bye week is, right? Week six. And also, by the way, if
01:14you wait that long, you avoid the Green Bay and the Jets playing them back-to-back, those
01:17defenses. Maybe you don't want, you know, the rookie facing those defenses. You can
01:21put up there against the Lions, spread the solid defense, but once again, not the Jets.
01:26So I think that's where we're going to see the switch here. I think I'm taking Jefferson
01:29first round, but I have some concerns of what you said. I think he puts up numbers. I think
01:34in some ways he is quarterback proof, but we're not going to see the monster season.
01:37We're just not going to see that. How are we? I mean, do we really expect? I know some
01:43rookie quarterbacks come out of nowhere and wow, but that's a rarity. And a lot of those
01:47times in fantasy lands, of course they can run, right? So they're getting fancy with
01:51their legs here, not necessarily throwing it. Do I think to expect Jefferson to have
01:55a big season? No, I can't quite go that far, but it's not like I said, I'm not avoiding
02:00him. It's just a couple other wide receivers, one or two that I'd rather have over him.
02:05Yeah. Darren Jones, another one of these older running backs, jettisoned in, playing in the
02:09same division and stuff. It's going to be a tougher sell there. And then Hawkinson ahead
02:12of schedule. That's great. I think if you miss out on all the tight end runs, maybe
02:16you draft them late and hope that at some point in the season, you get him healthy and
02:19looking like Hawkinson. But the quarterback play at the end of the day runs the ecosystem.
