00:00The VIT is a tracking device placed inside the adult female elk, and it lets scientists
00:07know when the mother gives birth to her fawn.
00:11After the elk gives birth, the VIT falls out of the mother and sends a radio signal to
00:16the scientists.
00:19We then use radio telemetry to find the VIT and return it to the scientists.
00:23It's getting louder.
00:24It's getting louder.
00:25Oh, yeah.
00:26You see it?
00:27Oh, there it is.
00:28Right here.
00:30Wow.
00:31Look at this thing.
00:32Right as she pooped after she gave birth.
00:35You're the expert, of course.
00:38I'll just reach in there all unsanitary and take it out.
00:42So, now that we have it, what are we going to do with it?
00:45Well, we probably won't reuse it because the battery is going to run out pretty soon,
00:50but in case of an emergency, we could, but we'll just pull it out of here because it's
00:55also synced up to mom's collar, and we want the baby's collar to sync up with mom's.
01:00So, we'll just carry it out of here, and then baby's collar will sync up with mom, no problem.
01:04Awesome.
01:05That's going to be so cool.
