00:00Oh
00:13Just a few hours old
00:16So the first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna put on some gloves
00:19So we have to put on some gloves
00:21We don't want to accidentally maybe give this little baby some diseases that we might have on our hands
00:26So we're gonna put these on
00:28This is so cute, it's adorable
00:31It's making cute little squeaking sounds
00:34So cool. I love this
00:37Probably gonna lay the baby down right here in this open spot. Can I help hold you it?
00:45If you hold the front legs and then we'll just kind of lay it down a little bit
00:53We've got a face mask and we're gonna put this face mask on and that's gonna help keep it calm
00:58If we get it over its eyes
01:01Look at how as we put the face mask on she immediately calms down
01:06We're gonna take some measurements. So we're gonna measure the back foot length
01:17So I've measured the whole length from here to here to the tip of the foot and it's 41 centimeters
01:23Is that small for her?
01:25Um, that's actually she's a pretty good sized one, which is what we like to see
01:30We like to see him to be pretty good size
01:32We're just taking some measurements and all of this is very very good data for conservation
01:38So we're gonna put her in this pillowcase and we're gonna try and keep her calm as we kind of slide her in
01:43Back end first. So we're doing that gently and carefully so we keep her stressed Anna
01:48We're gonna tuck her head in here as well. And then we're going to weigh her so that we can
01:54Monitor growth when we hopefully recapture her again this fall
02:00Lift her up
02:03It will beep when we get the weight
02:08She's fourteen point nine six kilograms hold will you hold these things for me?
02:14While I put the collar on so where's her mom?
02:19So mom ran off when we walked in but she will stay close by and
02:24When we leave she will come back to check on her baby
02:28When we put the collar on we want to make sure it's not too tight
02:31And then as the baby grows these the stitching right here, you see that will it's not very strong thread
02:38So as the baby grows the threads will break and the collar will expand with her as she grows this summer
02:44How long will the collar be on her the plan is to recapture her again this fall winter if she survives
02:52And then we will put an adult collar on her that will track her into her adult life. Wow, that's so cool
03:01You can see she's got little white spots on her and this is to help her camouflage in the bush
03:06But this is such a cool experience
03:09All right now we see Brooke that the baby calf is moving away and she's calling for her mom
03:14Mm-hmm
03:14And so when we leave mom is gonna hear her baby and she's gonna come hustling back in here and they're gonna be reunited
03:21She's so cute. Yes. I've named her. Oh, what have you named her? His name is Daisy Daisy. That's a good name
03:30All right. Oh, there she goes and there she goes. I think it's time for us to leave as well. Bye Daisy
03:38You
