00:00Hello, and welcome to From the South.
00:11I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:15We begin with the news.
00:16The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, warned on Wednesday about the regrouping
00:22of the right-wing movement in Venezuela.
00:24During his daily morning meeting with the press, the Mexican head of state referred
00:28to the statements issued by international organizations about the Venezuelan elections
00:33and warned that several countries and the OAS seek to drag Mexico into interfering in
00:40matters that only concern the Venezuelan people.
00:43In relation to the electoral process held in the Bolivarian nation, LĂłpez Obrador reiterated
00:48that his government is waiting for the ruling of Venezuela's highest electoral authority
00:52before taking a position.
00:55Now, for example, in the case of Venezuela, I don't know if you have noticed that there
01:08is a regrouping of the right-wing movement, even the OAS, I don't know if yesterday,
01:13Did they resolve anything yesterday?
01:29Didn't the OAS meet yesterday?
01:32And what did it resolve?
01:33Nothing.
01:34The OAS is trying to resolve, the same isn't it?
01:51If one candidate won, yes, but they are into that.
01:55They are even trying to get us involved in that, we already said we are going to wait
01:59for the ruling of the electoral authority.
02:08Venezuelan National Assembly begins on Wednesday a public consultation process across the country
02:13on a bill against fascism which seeks to protect the population from the violence promoted
02:18by the extreme right.
02:19The bill was presented last April to the National Assembly by Executive Vice President Delsi
02:24RodrĂguez and passed its first reading by a qualified majority.
02:28The purpose of the law is to establish the means and procedures to preserve peaceful
02:33coexistence, public tranquility, democratic exercise and the recognition of diversity
02:38and tolerance.
02:39The norm has a chapter dedicated to social media, described in the law as a new machinery
02:45designed to promote hate and violence, over-tolerance, love and coexistence.
02:50After the popular consultation, the bill will be sent back to the Parliament for a final
02:54approval and its immediate implementation.
03:02On Wednesday the Government of Venezuela rejected the criticisms of the High Commissioner for
03:06Human Rights Volker Turk about the initiatives of the National Assembly to confront interference
03:11and violence in the country.
03:13On a communiqué, the Venezuelan Government expressed, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
03:17rejects in the strongest terms the intemperate statements of the High Commissioner for Human
03:23Rights Volker Turk, in which he dares to give his opinion on the legislative initiatives
03:28of the Venezuelan National Assembly concerning the regulation of non-governmental organizations
03:34and the fight against hate speech and the eradication of fascism and Nazism as political
03:39expressions contrary to the constitutional principles.
03:43The Venezuelan Administration further stated, Mr. Turk takes off his mask and plays the
03:49role for which he was appointed, at the bureaucratic post in the United Nations system by the imperialist
03:55powers, playing the role of plaintiff against the Bolivarian Government and the dismissive
04:02of the violent riots that attempted against the peace and tranquility of Venezuelans,
04:07killing innocent people, setting fire to schools, hospitals, political party headquarters and
04:12public spaces of the community, clear crimes that violate human rights.
04:17The text stressed the following, the Bolivarian Government is certain that it is not Mr. Turk's
04:22ignorance that pushes him to disregard that the vast majority of the countries worldwide,
04:29in all continents, have fostered laws to protect the people from the evils of fascism and Nazism,
04:35as well as have pursued an important package of legal instruments to regulate the functions
04:39of non-governmental organizations, which in many cases represent obscure interests that
04:45seek to twist the welfare of the people over the duty of the states.
04:49Finally, the Comunique noted, Venezuela reiterates its call to the High Commissioner to let aside
04:56his provocative behavior and approach his responsibilities to cease his brutal attack
05:01on Venezuelan institutions and to take the side of the victims of the far-right violence,
05:06as the far-right has tried to inflict damage to the Venezuelan population by using fascist
05:12methods.
05:13Argentina's former President Cristina Fernández testified before court on Wednesday in the
05:25trial for the assassination attempt she suffered in September 2022.
05:30Fernández questioned the failure to present in court the material and financial authors
05:35of the aggression against her and affirmed that it was a debt that must be paid with
05:40democracy.
05:41The former president described the investigation and the handling of the judicial case as a
05:46disaster.
05:47She was the victim of an assassination attempt on September 1, 2022, by an individual linked
05:53to extreme right-wing groups who pointed a firearm at her in the vicinity of her residence.
06:06A total and absolute disaster, only with the material authors, they never in general tried
06:11to do so.
06:12The truth is that the attempt to unify the case of the Federal Revolution against the
06:13Venezuelan people is not an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:14It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:15It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:16It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:17It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:18It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:19It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:20It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:21It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:22It is an attempt to unify the case of the Venezuelan people.
06:23in the things he or she does wrong by the higher instances, that is when the power needs
06:27to be questioned beyond any expressions, which are everywhere and cannot be generalized.
06:37The truth is that the attempt to unify the case of the Federal Revolution with the case
06:41of my attack was rejected several times when I asked the Magistrate in charge of the investigation,
06:47It was rejected by Dr. Cappuccetti and Dr. Cappuccetti's decision was ratified by the
06:51criminal court, which means not only Dr. Cappuccetti, but also the judiciary.
