00:25In the last 24 hours alone, Israel has committed 3 massacres in the Gaza Strip, killing 26
00:30people and injuring 84.
00:36And Venezuelan Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, reported on Tuesday
00:40the capture of a U.S. individual involved in terrorist plans against the country.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:56In Lebanon, on Tuesday, 9 people were killed and a large number were injured as a result
01:01of the explosion of wireless devices in several regions of the country.
01:05Preliminary reports indicated that the cyber attack managed to hack into message-receiving
01:10devices known as piped pagers, which exploded almost simultaneously, injuring those in possession
01:16of the equipment.
01:17The Lebanese Minister of Health, Firas al-Abyad, stated that the number of wounded amounts
01:22to more than 2,750, with 200 critical cases being treated in 100 hospitals.
01:30Al-Abyad called on all the citizens with wireless communication devices to stay away from them.
01:36In an initial statement, the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah informed that their agencies
01:41are conducting an extensive scientific and security investigation to discover the reasons
01:46that led to the simultaneous explosions.
01:49Meanwhile, the Minister of Information of Lebanon, Asyad Makkari, has called the attack
01:54an Israeli aggression.
02:06Lebanon's acting Minister of Public Health called on health centers to urgently treat
02:11all injured people following the explosion of wireless devices in several regions.
02:19I make a call to treat as urgently as possible all the wounded.
02:25We also call on the entire health team to assume all their responsibilities.
02:32The Lebanese minister denied that hospitals had refused admission to those injured in
02:36the attack and urged the population to consult official media outlets.
02:43There has been talk that some of the hospitals have refused to receive some of the wounded.
02:47That is not true.
02:50I say that unfortunately in these critical cases false news are spreading.
02:57Please everyone get the information from the official media.
03:04We are trying to give the information almost immediately.
03:10There has been an excellent response from the health teams.
03:17I also reiterate our call for all parties to assume their responsibilities and I wish
03:22a speedy recovery to all the wounded.
03:25For his part, Communications Minister Asyad Makkari reported that the Lebanese government
03:30is in discussions to approve the budget to care for all the victims of the recent Israeli
03:35attack.
03:39We are discussing the draft budget to attend to all the people affected, taking into account
03:44what the government income allows.
03:47We are called to attend to all the needs of the citizens.
03:53We are working together to solve all these problems, far away from populism.
04:00Here is what we know so far regarding the mass detonations of communication devices
04:04reportedly caused by an Israeli cyber attack on Lebanon.
04:08After more than 5,000 pagers exploded throughout the country, the Lebanese health minister
04:13confirmed the death of at least nine people, while the number of wounded has reached 2,750.
04:19The minister added that around 200 critical cases are being attended in more than 100
04:25hospitals.
04:26Unfortunately, as a result of the attack, it's been reported that a little girl named
04:30Fatima Yafar Abdullah Named died when a pager exploded inside her family's house in the
04:37city of Sarin in Bekaa, eastern Lebanon.
04:40In addition, the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Mostafa Aminaran suffered minor injuries but
04:46is reportedly doing well.
04:53In a recent statement, the resistance movement Hezbollah blamed Israel for the widespread
04:57attack on thousands of communication devices in Lebanon.
05:02Precisely, the group said,
05:04After examining all the facts, current data and available information about the sinful
05:09attack that took place this afternoon, we hold the Israeli enemy fully responsible for
05:14this criminal aggression that targeted civilians too.
05:18Hezbollah said it will continue to support the Palestinian resistance and added the treacherous
05:23and criminal enemy will certainly be punished for this aggressive act.
05:28In a previous statement, the movement had called on people not to pay attention to rumors,
05:32false and misleading information that some parties spread in order to wage psychological
05:37warfare in favor of the Zionist enemy.
05:41Hezbollah stressed that the resistance at all levels and its various units are in full
05:45readiness to defend Lebanon and its brave people.
05:59In Palestine, authorities denounced that in the last 24 hours alone, Israel has committed
06:16three massacres in the Gaza Strip, killing 26 people and injuring 84.
06:21At least four people, including a child, were killed by shelling by the occupation army
06:25on Tuesday morning on homes in the Bureij refugee camp, while some 30 civilians were
06:30left to parade under the rubble.
06:32According to civil defense rescue teams, it was a two-fold attack that struck firstly
06:38on a block of houses and secondly on emergency teams searching through the rubble.
06:43The death toll of the genocide launched by Israel on October 7 has increased to more
06:48than 41,000 victims, most of them children and women, while more than 95,000 Palestinians
06:54have been wounded.
07:03Palestinian aid group Society Israel is preventing 83% of food aid from reaching Gaza.
07:09A group of 15 aid organizations declared in a joint statement that the people of Gaza
07:14are only eating an average of one meal a day because the Israeli military is blocking 83%
07:20of the food aid needed to reach the besieging enclave.
07:24They added that the amount of aid blockaded by Israel has increased substantially since
07:282023, when only 34% of food aid was blocked.
07:33The director of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organization, Nedorkork PNGO, Amjad Alshawa,
07:40said in the statement that 100% of Gaza's population is now dependent on aid and shortages
07:46mean that people are starving.
07:48Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel's collective punishment of the Palestinian
07:59people in Gaza.
08:00Secretary General Antonio Guterres, United Nations General Secretary General Antonio
08:03Guterres condemned Israel's collective punishment of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
08:04The level of suffering in Gaza, the level of deaths and destruction have no parallel
08:08in everything I have witnessed since I am Secretary General.
08:13Obviously, we all condemn the terror attacks made by Hamas, as well as the taking of hostages
08:24that is an absolute violation of international humanitarian law.
08:28But the truth is that nothing justifies the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
08:34And that is what we are witnessing in a dramatic way in Gaza.
08:38In turn, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right Situation in the Occupied Palestinian
08:43Territory, Francesca Albanese, said that Israel has become a pariah and suggested that
08:48the country's membership in the United Nations should be questioned.
08:51It is unavoidable for Israel to become a pariah in the face of its continuous, relentless,
08:59vilifying assault on the United Nations on top of millions of Palestinians.
09:06But this year, the UN Secretary General, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council
09:13have been constantly vilified, not that it has not happened before, but never with this intensity.

09:38Venezuelan Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Josá Cabello, reported on Tuesday
09:43the capture of a US individual involved in terrorist plans against the country.
09:48The announcement was made during an ordinary session of the National Assembly,
09:52where Cabello informed that the investigations on the new terrorist plans against the country
09:56have also led to the seizure of a batch of around 400 rifles of exclusive manufacture
10:02and use by the United States military.
10:04The Bolivarian official also denied the allegations spread on foreign social media
10:09that the individuals of Spanish and US nationalities captured were doing tourism in Venezuela.
10:14Cabello reaffirmed the nation's intelligence agencies have the confession and other conclusive
10:20evidence that showed that the arrested belonged to paramilitary groups and foreign forces.
10:25The Minister of Interior said the capture of the US national
10:29was possible thanks to the information provided by the people.
10:35And here, 20 minutes ago, I was sitting there.
10:44Was captured another citizen from the United States. Right now, North American.
11:00We were following him. He was captured here in Caracas.
11:04Taking pictures to electric facilities, oil facilities, military units.
11:18Venezuela has a very powerful motor, which is the consciousness of our people.
11:29Cabello also emphasized that it is essential to preserve peace in the country and not
11:33cease in the effort to maintain tranquility across the nation.
11:36Look what they do in Palestine. They attack hospitals, schools, refugees.
11:46Saying that there's supposed terrorists there and what they do is killing children and nobody
11:52does anything. We need to preserve the peace in our country.
12:03I believe that our people voted on July 28 for peace and tranquility.
12:11We must not stop in the work of taking care of our country.
12:17We must not be careless and expect to see what happens.
12:29We need to stop it before it happens.
12:33In Colombia, through an agreement between the Reparation Fund of the Victims Unit, FRV,
12:38and the National Land Agency, victims of paramilitarism will receive 18,000 hectares
12:43to repair the damage they have suffered. According to Lilia Solano, Director of the
12:48Victims Unit, and Felipe Harman, Director of the National Land Agency, the FRV will receive an
12:55amount of more than $175 billion, which will make possible the distribution of the victims'
13:01resources in the purchase of the land destined to repair the community. For his part, Felipe
13:06Harman pointed out that this is the first time that the agency makes a massive purchase from the
13:11FRV, and that it is thanks to the political will of both administrations to break down
13:17the institutional barriers that prevented the implementation of the agreement.
13:25The Chamber of Representatives of Colombia will continue this Wednesday with the debates of the
13:30labor reform promoted by the President Gustavo Pedro. The project, which is one of the flagship
13:35reforms of the Colombian President, will enter a new day of debates after 50 of the 93 impediments
13:41presented by the legislators on the measure were voted and denied. In this context, the
13:46Colombian Ministry of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, expressed that the approval of the initiative
13:51is important since the current legislation is more than 70 years old, adding that Colombia
13:56needs to move towards a right-based approach. The proposal, which still has to pass three
14:02debates in the Congress, seeks to warranty labor rights and to achieve sustainable work environments.

14:28the Shuar of the Cordurian Amazon, the Huichiperi of Peru, the Aymara of the Andean Highlands, as
14:34well as representatives from different territories of the Mapuche people, met to discuss common
14:39solutions to shared problems. The Congress also focused on community life and fundamental
14:44characteristics of NARIF peoples undermined by extractivist capitalism.
14:55In Argentina, thousands of students marched on Monday during the anniversary of 48 of
15:00La Noche de los Lapices, the Night of the Pencils in English. The mobilization this
15:04Monday was attended by young people, human rights organizations and political entities
15:10honoring the victims of the Night of the Pencils, a group of students kidnapped on September 16th,
15:151976, by police and army officers in Buenos Aires. The demonstration took place after the
15:21head of state introduced a budget bill to cut the 2025 investments in science, technology and
15:28education. The protesters demanded the president not to veto the education funding bill. Likewise,

16:00Welcome back to From the South. The French National Assembly approved to debate the
16:08impeachment motion of President Emmanuel Macron presented by the left-wing party La France Insoumise.
16:14The action was approved with 12 votes in favor and 10 against. The initiative has the support
16:19of 81 lawmakers and more than 300,000 signatures. This in view of the failure of the French
16:26president to elect a prime minister by passing the popular vote which gave the majority of the
16:31seats to the left-wing parties. In this context, the socialist party agreed to promote the study
16:37of the impeachment which, if carried out, would mark the end of President Macron's administration.
16:50In this context, the leader of the France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon,
16:53had this to say on Aix. The debate of the impeachment motion of Macron is approved.
16:59Where there's a will, there's a way. And now, action! Eric Coquerel is going to fetch the
17:05budget documents hidden at Matignon and on September 21st, rally with the youth for Macron's impeachment.
17:12In the French port city of Calais, a vigil was held to pay tribute to the eight migrants who
17:24died on Sunday while trying to cross the English Channel. Regional Prefect Jacqueline Villand said
17:30the incident occurred around 1 a.m. local time in waters off the coast of the northern city of
17:36Amblestous. The official stated that the vessel was carrying approximately 60 people from countries
17:42such as Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan and Iran and capsized due to the large number of
17:47people being transported. So far this year, 46 migrants have lost their lives trying to reach
17:53British shores. Hong Kong's chief executive Jean-Le Cachou condemned on Tuesday the recent
18:04legal actions of the US government that intend to close the three economic and trade offices the
18:09city has in the North American nation. The remarks come after the partisan Hong Kong Economic and
18:15Trade Office Certification Act got passed last week by the US House of Representatives as part
18:21of a series of China-related proposals being scrutinized. In this context, Lee stated that
18:26the punitive bill is part of Washington's political tactics aimed at suppressing Hong
18:31Kong's development. Furthermore, the Asian leader warned that businesses in the Western nation
18:37would suffer if the government adopts the bill. The Special Administrative Region of
18:41China currently has 14 economic and trade offices overseas.
18:50I strongly condemn the US House of Representatives for making use of the so-called Hong Kong Economic
18:58and Trade Office Certification Act to slander the Hong Kong laws on safeguarding national security.
19:08And also smear the human rights situation in Hong Kong. These are political tactics to suppress the
19:16development of China and also Hong Kong. These are shameless and ugly political tactics.
