A man arrested for allegedly beating and pushing his wife into a ravine pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Kangsar Sessions Court on Friday (Aug 16) to charges of criminal intimidation and attempted murder.

Mohd Azzuan Ahmad, 39, claimed trial after the charges were read before Sessions judge Rohaida Ishak.

00:25For the first charge, the father of five was accused of criminal intimidation by making
00:29death threats against his 32-year-old wife, Nordiana Ahmad, in a vehicle while travelling
00:35along the North-South Expressway towards Kuala Kangsar on the night of July 26.
00:41The offence under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a penalty of up to seven years
00:46in prison or a fine or both upon conviction.
00:50For the second charge, Azwan was accused of attempting to murder Nordiana, causing
00:55her injury at the roadside near kilometre 31.2 of the East-West Highway on the Garik
01:01Jelly Route between 4am and 5am on July 27.
01:06The offence under Section 307 of the Penal Code carries a penalty of up to 20 years in
01:12prison if convicted.
01:14The court denied bail and set September 19 for next mention of the case and for the appointment
01:20of a lawyer.
